I could do stories for years on the reputation of this family owned local business. What lead me to my reviewing is the father of the owner, never met this man before in my life until Christmastime. He noticed my husbands work van was missing a hubcap. On his way to work one evening he stopped and gave my husband "a hubcap he laying around his yard". Support local. And thank you for servicing our cars for the past decades.
Yesterday evening, I had a sudden drop in tire pressure on my driver side front tire on my truck.
I had to get clear of the road quickly.
I found a parking lot and scheduled a tow to my house and I would deal with it the next morning.
Michael, from After Dark towing showed up for the tow.
The gentleman was conscientious and courteous.
He was a complete professional and was able to inflate my spare so I could drive myself home.
I will not forget this company.
Their card is now on my console in case of emergency in the future.

I'm sure they've been good for others - I'm giving this rating solely on my experience.
They accepted a job from Erie Insurance for my tow today at 4:55am; I unfortunately hit a deer. My vehicle was stranded IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. It died and I couldn't move it, I couldn't turn the wheel, and it was pitch black and 18 degrees. I stressed that to Erie and the towing dispatcher since the vehicle was a hazard where it was. They gave a farther out time (75-105 minutes). Not great, especially for the vehicle being a hazard, but there has been adverse weather and it was early in the morning. However, they delayed the tow at least four different times. I have a text from 6:06am that they we were arriving in 12-42 minutes. At 8:10a, 29 minutes out. I never once got a direct call from them to communicate anything or ask about me or my vehicle. I get a call at 9:10a from them where they tell me that my car was picked up due to NC Highway Patrol getting it towed. Apparently, NC Highway Patrol could get someone to, and quick enough to beat After Dark, but After Dark could not. They blamed weather when the entire route to the collision center was bone dry. I drive it every day.
They tell me that they don't know where it is and that I will have to call NC Highway Patrol. That's it - no help, no apology, no offer to get it from there and make it right. They were just done with me. All of this went on but THEY accepted the job from Erie. Why would you pick a job and then provide all kinds of excuses to not get it? They didn't do what they committed to do, then didn't even TRY to make it right. Then, when I went after Erie to try to get it towed from the wrong place to the correct place, by this time it was after 4pm, After Dark tried accepting it again! I flatout refused their service and will continue to. Again, if my experience is any indication of how they are doing business these days, I'd strongly advise against using them. If nothing else, DEFINITELY their towing service. They over-accept, terribly under-deliver, and then don't make it right. 16 hours later and my vehicle is still not where it needs to be.
Edit: Their response to this review unfortunately reinforces the concerns I described. Rather than addressing the documented delays, lack of communication, or failure to complete the job they accepted, they chose to publicly blame the customer, despite the fact that I followed explicit guidance from my insurance.
I was stranded in the dark, in freezing temperatures, with my disabled vehicle blocking a roadway and unable to be moved or safely stood beside due to icy conditions off of the road. Erie was actively concerned about my safety and advised me that it was acceptable to leave the vehicle. That context was ignored entirely in their reply.
Their response does not acknowledge a single service failure, offers no apology, and makes no attempt to resolve the outcome - even after my vehicle was towed by NC Highway Patrol due to prolonged delays. Blaming weather after the fact, when the route and roadway were dry and passable, does not address the core issue: accepting a job, repeatedly missing ETAs, failing to communicate, and then not making it right.
Based on both the experience itself and the business’s public response, I cannot recommend their towing service. Others may have different experiences, but this one involved poor communication, lack of ownership, and an unacceptable handling of a safety-critical situation.
TOW: Michael, the driver, was courteous, a safe driver and talked to me in such a manner to calm me from the angst of the moment. He towed and delivered the car without incident including an incredible reverse drive through a tight aisle in the dealership lot to place the car in the space left for it. Outstanding!!! We had a great ride, especially talking about our state and the many blessings of our lives. Delightful, earnest and decent human being. Cannot say enough good things!!!
Afterdark Towing saved the day. They showed up much faster than I expected them to. The driver was super helpful and made a stressful situation much easier to deal with. Big thanks to him (I think his name was Jimmy?) and his friendly dalmation for getting me and my car home safe!

I just had to have my car towed to the dealership and have honestly been dreading having to do it all week. Michael with AFTERDARK towing made it so simple. Michael was so helpful when our daughter's tire blew on I-40. Not only did he tow her car from Greensboro to Rolesville but also sent photos and informed us of another issue he discovered. We loved the extra communication from him outside of the automatic insurance robo texts. We are so thankful for his above and beyond service!
My car died on the side of the highway. My insurance company called After Dark Towing. The driver Micheal arrived within 10 minutes. He told me he thinks was out of gas. He towed me to the gas station put gas in my car and sent me on my way without making me feel stupid. The only part of a recent accident that hasn't been a hassle has been these guys. Tow truck showed up ahead of estimated time, driver was friendly, helpful and great at his job. They provided valuable information on the process as well as helped me grab a few things I forgot in my car the next day. Between the insurance company and the dispatching service used by them not communicating well it created headaches for me and these guys, but they worked with me to make sure my car got to where it needed to be and were always pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend them if you every need anything towed.

Michael came to tow my daughter's car. He took the tire off, tied up the car and loaded it on the flatbed in less than 10 minutes. Michael was very courteous and pleasant.
This was the worst experience I've ever had. The company repeatedly lied to the insurance provider about their estimated arrival time. On multiple calls, they told the insurance they would arrive sooner than what they actually told me. During the third call, I overheard them say they'd be there in 20 minutes, yet the driver called me directly and said it would be 45 minutes.
It was clear they were intentionally pushing the time further out while giving the insurance a shorter ETA just to keep the contract. The owner and the towing driver consistently misrepresented the time frame. My daughter was left in an unsafe location, and instead of being honest, they blamed traffic—on a Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m.
Their lack of transparency could have easily led to an accident. Honesty and putting the customer’s safety first should always come before trying to make a profit through deception.
Best towing company around. My car wouldn’t start after trying to jump it and Michael came to tow my car. I told him the issue I was having and he said let me try to jump it. When he tried, it started right up. He told me what may be causing the issue. Michael was very nice, knowledgeable, and fast. This is the only towing company I will use and recommend. Best service that I have received!!! My Tahoe gear shift pin came loose and my husband and I were stuck in reverse. Requested roadside assistance through State Farm and After Dark was dispatched. My ETA for the tow truck to arrive was 90-120 minutes and Jimmy showed up about an hour later We explained to him what was going on and within minutes he was able to tell us exactly what was weong. Jimmy was very polite and professional he was a life saver this evening. I highly recommend this company if you ever need a tow!

I was shocked to find most tow companies in the area don't offer lockout or tire change services, After Dark Towing came all the way from Gibsonville to assist me. Their quick response, professionalism, and willingness to go the extra mile truly impressed me. I highly recommend After Dark Towing for their exceptional service and reliability. The service was fast and the rep that helped me was friendly.
My car broke down and After Dark came to the rescue. My AAA was horrible customer service to deal with, but once we got through all that confusion and was able to get the tow truck dispatched things went incredibly well. We were lucky enough to have Jimmy as our tow truck driver he picked up SUV fast and extremely careful. He definitely provided the type of service that you recommend to a close friend or family or anyone in need of a tow truck. You want to personally thank Jimmy and let him know he's doing an awesomely amazing job and should be recognized for it! Jimmy also grabbed a battery charger to charge my battery so I can roll my windows up because it was about to rain. Oh my god after dark towing is awesome. Michael was so sweet to us very careful with our vehicle. He also showed us some things that we needed to know about the vehicle. My husband was so impressed with his knowledge about his vehicle and also how much he was concerned about us getting our car fixed. If you want someone that is going to look after you and your vehicle and make sure you okay after dark towing is the company to book please book them. We are internally grateful. No one ever wants to have to have their car towed but if you do Brad with Afterdark Towing & Recovery is the best person to assist you. Brad was great to work with. He has a great personality and made the entire towing process a very nice one. The entire process was great from the moment I called th service. I received text notifications regarding their arrival and Brad was on time. He even called when he was 20 minutes away just as I requested. If I ever need a tow again I will definitely give them a call.
