Worst place to pick up load for truck driver.need everything like hard had/boots/ safety vest etc but just to pick up scrap west materials no make sense.Also I wait 4-5 hours to pu load.
Save your time go somewhere else don't get ripped off!
Scale isn't even visible for you to see how much is getting weighed at drop off area.
Worst experience selling copper.
Update, arrived at 3 o’clock Friday, April 18. The place was locked up. How can you run a legitimate business if you’re not open when you say that you’re open?
Drove up to the gate with another car ahead of me at 3:40 PM. I knew what was going on, just wanted to hear the excuse again. Was told that they close the gate at 3:45. You can’t close the gate, open the gate, tell two people that you are closed in less than a minute. It was closer to 330 then it was to 345. Doesn’t matter because the hours clearly state on the gate that they close at four. I got there before their soft close and was still denied entry. I called corporate this time. Trust me, if there was anywhere else, I would go. A lot of places in the north Winston area closed.
Almost always a pleasure doing business with these fine folks. Sometimes it gets busy around the scales, but they do a good job of moving everything along. Extra thanks to Lamar in commercial. He does an excellent job of keeping the flow during hectic times.
Last two weeks I’ve been trying to bring load of scrap metal to recycle, but tractor trailers and other vehicles backed up onto Glenn Ave, having to sit on shoulder of the road to even get in gate entrance. Also, someone should be out there directing who gets on scales next, seen several times when recyclers got mad, because someone got on scale when they thought they were next. Probably stop bulk metal recycling at this facility due to problem even getting in entrance.
Great way to dispose of.metals and make money. They are quick and just make sure you are taking metals that are beneficial if extra cash is the goal. If disposal is goal this is the place. Heck pruces to be sure not a waste of effort or time.
2/27/2024 I recently started recycling aluminum cans again. Process used to be confusing but it's much smoother now. The guy is very nice. Here are some pictures I took from my most recent visit:
Good luck if u scrap anything of value. I collect any copper I see. I was told I couldn't scrap it without permission... Like who am I supposed to get permission from?!?!?!?!
I've taken my aluminum cans there for several years. In the past I made very little profit, but my most recent visit was a pleasant surprise. I received more than expected. It's a gratifying feeling to do something to help the environment and get paid to do it.
Love this place been dealing with them the past two years now and I love the way they are setup have a retail for smaller less items and big scale for bulk items. Lamar. In retail is just a great dude and I always look forward to see how his days are goin. Guys at the window as well pretty straight forward and have a good sense of humor if Yu wanna scrap this is the place I personally recommend I've been to Gordon's in Mt airy and they are just a bunch of drama and. Attitude always looking. For a way to give you less but not Omni they are straight up and pay Yu what they say and if you call the nicest lady answers and more than happy to give Yu the prices I grew up scrapping and been too many but Omni is by far the best and I plan to stick with them thanks guys keep it up.!
I have been going to OmniSource for years. They were doing great. But now they cheating people out on they money and Junk prices. I well never go back to this location near again
Easy in and out with your loads it's clean. the people were very friendly and gave good directions on where to go to unload. Great place to take your scrap metal. Thumbs up!

Off-load what you brought (wear gloves, etc..). For this first-timer, I would recommend this place.
Truckers Beware......this is a scrap yard and the loads are recycled metal....and it isn't a clean load at all . You have to drive across random metal slivers just too get on their dock. Very nasty. And could cost you a tire .
Do not take anything there if you didn’t originally own it. I am surprised that I wasn’t required to bring the owner with me as much proof as they wanted.
Pulled in with cans to sell and they told me to park beside their trucks. They said they had too much going on to service us. It is now 30 min. later and were still sitting here and people who came in behind us are now getting service. Also, they kept my photo ID so that we can't even leave. Had coils from broken down units and they wouldn't purchase. Said needed AC license or receipt for new unit. What if owner of building only wanted units removed and not replaced! This place is terrible. I hope someone manipulates their scales on a daily basis.
