Plucked my Xterra from the side of Highway 12 just north of Avon and brought to me in Salvo. His fee was way lower than everyone else I contacted and he was friendly and jolly. Trust me. We live in Kitty Hawk and regularly drive down to surf fish off Ramp 23 in Salvo. Unfortunately, we got stuck today and had to call OBX Towing — and I’m so glad we did.
Buddy was the guy who came out, and he was absolutely fantastic. He knew exactly what he was doing, got us out quickly and safely, and made a stressful situation feel easy. On top of that, he shared some great stories that had us laughing and relaxed the whole time.

Our travel trailer had a tire blowout out on NC 12. He showed up quickly, helped with our tires and got us back going. Very nice fast and reasonably priced for the service. Its always good to have a 24hr hooker at your service. 😀
A couple weeks ago on our vacation, my husband and I got stuck in the sand. We called the business that came up first in a Google search. They asked a bunch of ridiculous questions and quoted an outrageous price to help us when we were stuck only maybe 30 yards from the ramp. I called OBX Towing while my husband was still on the phone with the other guy, and immediately knew this was the way to go, so I told my husband to hang up. We waited a bit for Randy to get back from another job, but it was worth it. He got us out in minutes, took us to a gas station to put air back in our tires, and charged less than half what the other guy wanted. It was as great an experience as getting stuck in the sand on the last night of vacation could be. He also made sure we knew how to get a refund from our car insurance company, which we successfully did!
Got stuck in the sand at 6:15, called them and they tried to assist me over the phone first, after a small conversation Sam said hold tight we are on the way, by 7:25 they had me out of the sand and back on the road. Cannot express how awesome the service was, and professional they were through the whole ordeal. Thank you again!

OBX towing. After getting stuck on the beach, I was stressed and worried, but they came to the rescue quickly! The dispatcher was friendly and kept me updated on the driver’s ETA, and the tow truck arrived even sooner than expected!
The driver was courteous, knowledgeable, and clearly experienced with beach recoveries. He handled the situation with ease and took extra care with my vehicle. What could have been a frustrating evening turned into a surprisingly smooth experience thanks to their efficiency and professionalism!!

Randy at OBX towing was an absolute lifesaver! He towed my POS Ford from Avon to Midlothian with 2 hours notice. He went above and beyond and I can’t recommend this business enough if you’re stuck in a jam.

As we were coming back from a great day of jet skiing with our kids and grandkids our suburban overheated as we were pulling back into our rental drive way. It was late and we had to wait until the next morning (which was Labor Day)…..we wondered who would we find to help us in Avon on a holiday. We called OBX Towing and were relieved “ Fat Daddy” could help us with replacing our radiator hose. He knew where to get the part, and we were on our way back home in a short period of time! Highly recommend as he was super friendly, helpful and a great attitude (funny too)!
Driving my Jeep on the beach one night, and got into some super soft sand, got my driver's side buried up to the floorboard. After calling a couple places that were either closed, or couldn't come to me, I spoke to Big Daddy. He first told me it would be 2 hrs, but put me on hold and a few minutes later he told me he had a guy on his way. 50 minutes later they arrived after after 10 minutes had me pulled out. Awesome people and company and I would recommend them to anyone needing a quick tow.
So I was on vacation in outer banks dealing with budget wanting me to wait over two hours. I called Obx he was there in 30 mins then came back with trailer since tie rod was broke! I also on top of matters was traveling with two service animals. He was very nice let dogs have break when got gas. He also let us ride to Norfolk with him to pick up new rental. I highly recommend. He was get you out of the situation and actually cares. My mascura ran from crying first thing he did was give me a wipe. True gentleman!
Honest guy, My truck went dead fishing overnight on the beach, of course I didn't find this out until about 3:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning. Called first thing 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, still stranded on the beach, the guy answered the phone second ring. He found a driver that he said could get up to me in about an hour and sent him on. Thankfully a good Samaritan cruised down the beach and gave me a jump just a few minutes later. I called the guy back and explained, he was more than understanding and didn't charge anything. Didn't get to use them, but wouldn't hesitate to if I needed to again!
Coolest guy I met in the Obx. Randy “phat daddy” Miller. This man will do anything to help anyone. He came to our rescue this past weekend in frisco at hatteras sno balls. We were broke down with a bad starter he not only towed us back to our rental but all the way home to va the next day. He was great with making room for all 3 of our kids in his truck and me and my wife up front with him. It was such a great adventure with more stories and laughs than you could imagine. He’s a great guy with a huge heart. If I ever have troubles in the Obx or surrounding areas he will be my first call for now on.
I buried my Tacoma in a ditch like a dumb a#@. It took me longer to deal with my insurance on the phone than the entire towing process including the time it took the tow truck to arrive. The owner told me on the phone that he knew exactly where I was and he would see me in 30 minutes. He was there in exactly 30 minutes! He jumped out of his truck and took full control of the situation, stopped traffic, positioned his truck, had the guy with him hook up the chain, and he pulled me right out! All in less than 5 minutes! It was so awesome! He was a super nice guy gave both my wife and myself a hug, he seemed as excited as were were.
Fatdaddy (Randy Miller) is the best ever. I’m from northern Virginia, which is about 7 hours away from Ocracoke, and I lost my only set of car keys on the beach. I called around the island asking every person I could find if they would be able to tow my car up the island, and F.D. was the only person who agreed to do it (happily, might I add). He rode the ferry from Hatteras to ocracoke & back again to get my car up to Avon, and then when it turned out the hardware store couldn’t program my new key, he towed it ANOTHER 2 & 1/2 hours up to Chesapeake Virginia to a dealership. F.D. was extremely friendly, fast, and very fairly priced. I will never forget how he helped me when I needed it most. He told me when I first gave him a call: “baby, you can’t buy google reviews” and boy was he right! Don’t even think about calling anyone else if you need a tow in OBX.
Cannot recommend Fat Daddy's services enough. During our first time on the beach in our new-to-us F250, we got ourself into quite a bind. Our tires became completely buried by sand as we tried to leave the beach at dusk. I found OBX Towing through Google and gave Fat Daddy a call. He answered right away, estimated he'd be to us in 20 minutes, and was there right on time.
When I saw him cruising onto the sand in his small Nissan SUV, I thought "there's no way this guy is going to get us out with that vehicle." I ate my words. Fat Daddy knows his stuff and was able to pull us out of a huge rut that our friend's Ram 2500 couldn't even do. Not only that, but he showed my husband how to avoid getting stuck in the sand again. He took 30 minutes to teach him about the settings on his truck and even provided an impromptu comedy show for the kids.
Great guy. What a character. We would absolutely call him again -- and his price was VERY competitive compared to other towing companies.
Randy REALLY helped us out of a scary situation tonight. We got stuck on the beach up on one of those sand cliffs with the back tire about 2 feet from the edge . His great advice got us safely out and we owe him big time! The world needs more Randys. Call him before you make mistakes like sinking your tires in a panic.
I am so appreciative of this company. Buried my super duty ford truck to the axles. We tried for a hour to get out. Finally called. Instead of charging me to come out and pull me out. The company talked me though it over the phone. And I was able to get by truck out. Could have come out and charged me. Thanks for the great service.
I am in AWE of how incredible this recovery service is. I had the honor of PhatDaddy himself pulling me out. This setup worked PERFECTLY and without hesitation he pulled my broken Isuzu off the sand (ramp 32 pictured). You see I had broken a clutch (or hydraulic system component) and the pedal was unresponsive. He pulled me to the road and then loaded me onto a trailer helping me get my car to the parts location (Autozone, Kitty hawk, Clutch Master Cylinder, our test showed no fluid pressure building). Sadly the part didn't fix the problem and the rest of the systems components weren't available. I have to work on monday so started to arrange transportation. He offered to use the same trailer setup and take me home, to which I engaged his services to do. The trip was incredible and I arrived safe and sound.
