This place quoted me 1000 to tow my vehicle and then charged me 4800. Refused to itemize or justify the invoice. Just taking advantage of an out of state person. When I sent someone to pick it up, they refused to take a credit card and tried to force me to pay cash. Also trying to charge a 7 percent CC fee. I have an expensive vehicle and I am a woman. They are doing everything possible to rip me off. The sheriff had to come down there. Then they miraculously found that the CC machine was in fact working. Don’t trust these guys. They could have had a lucrative repair job paid by insurance. But instead I am going somewhere for repair where they are more ethical than this. I will be seeing these guys in court. Don’t give these guys your business. They do not honor their quotes in any way. Not even trying to justify charges. Barney owns Monkey Wrench and this guy Larry owns Smith towing. They work together. Hope this helps someone else.
Black's Tire in Dunn gave me an apprisal for $2400 for a front end rebuild. I had Smith's Towing Do the job for $1000. Very Satisfied with the work and customer service. Floyd Barefoot
While traveling 95, a piece of metal was kicked off of a truck in front of us. It went under our tire which caused a slow leak. We saw Smith’s Garage was close, so we figured we’d try them. They immediately helped us by removing and patching the tire. We were back on the road within 1/2 an hour. Only charged $35. Thank you Smith’s Towing & Repair for a job well-done!
Sent my truck to these guys seeing the good reviews here, but very bad experience. Folks in business whose time is valuable, this is prob not the place to be. I called them 10 minutes before sending driver and they confirmed they'd be able to start working on truck asap... however, once driver showed up, he sat at the shop for 2.5 hours before they started working on truck.
Once radiator was replaced, they didn't have anti freeze so made us wait overnight and ended up charging an extra hour for something they should have had in first place, or not even started the job!!
To top everything off, charged $52/bottle of antifreeze (for 6 bottles), when even the place they bought it from verified on phone that retail price was $28.5/bottle. ($140 markup just on antifreeze!!!!)
Lastly, they overcharged $10 on final receipt (due to wrong math) which they eventually refunded once I caught it. They also charged 8% sales tax on receipt which I am pretty sure should be 7%.
[10/10/24] MY RESPONSE TO SHOP COMMENT:
1) At 6:30PM I was told work was completed, but since no anti freeze, wont be done till morning. That's 30 minutes after close time (not 1.5 hour).
2) You should NOT have started the job if you didn't have anti freeze to finish the job, after assuring me it would be done same day. Between Noon to 6:30PM, there was plenty time to arrange anti freeze ourselves had you told us!
3) Your shop called NAPA to reconfirm the msrp of antifreeze (Part # FAF 00836) you bought from them with me on the line, and the rep confirmed msrp was $28.5, yet you went ahead with $52/bottle. 3 other NAPAs in area also confirmed this.
3) It doesn't take 2.5 hours for a truck to cool down that only ran 20-30 minutes.
4) In the grand scheme of things, $10 calculaton mistake and 1% extra tax is minuscule, but I just wanted to warn future customers to look closer at the receipt to be safe.
I found myself 4 hours from home with a broken starter and 4 hours from home. Larry & Robert came to the Loves truck stop to tow my car, got the part from the store, and stayed late to fix it so I could get back on the road as quickly as possible. Extremely grateful to both of them, they did a great job. If you have AAA, don’t wait on them - they are unreliable in this area. Give Larry & Robert a call instead!
My insurance company gave me this as the name and contact of the towing company that came out to my mom. This was incorrect and my past review was based on info given to me by insurance company. I apologize and edited the review to reflect this.
I had a breakdown on 95 near their shop at almost 11pm at night. They got me off the highway with a contracted towing company and then fixed my truck first thing the next morning. We were on our way 12 hours later!
Charged me $300 to get my ac diagnosed. They told me it was a body control module , they wanted me to pay $1500 for a part that they even said It might not be & then $500 to install it & on top of that stole my FM transmitter & iPhone charger out of my car. I’ve went to them in the past for small repairs but after this I will never be returning to them for anything
Very nice people. Car broke down on my way to vacation. They had to keep car for a week. Accommodating friendly explained what they were doing as they did it.
Came in on a Sunday evening with a cracked rim. The guys were very helpful, called a welder and fixed it up within two hours. Very happy with the service!
Got into and bad accident yesterday with my tractor trailer and these guys was up early to change two tires and and a bent rim on my trailer I had them fix my trailer up that was damaged and these guys was professional and they worked together had a few good laughs to make my morning to start rite thanks Phill for helping and thanks Smith’s and Towing for making us truck drivers get back on the road safely
Driving down I95 and our tire sensor goes off and we found a nail in the tire. I called smiths and when we pulled in they plugged the tire without hesitation and were super helpful. Thank you gentlemen for your help
I couldn't have had car troubles at a better time, at a better place. They took such great care of me and I'm so grateful to God for leading me straight here when I started have car problems far away from home. Love these guys!!

Let me tell you about our Angels at Smith's Repair Service on exit 65 in Godwin, NC. On our way to SC. My daughter noticed the tire gauge signal I said let's stop at the nearest gas station. Exit 65 was our immediate exit, got out of car and could hear the air coming out. Right next door is Smith's I called just in case someone was still there, it was passed their closing hours. The 1st Angel answered and the 2nd came to our rescue. Praising God for His timing.
Traveing from Columbia Sc to Pa our rental car started smoking, stopped in to check the engine, Pete came over helped us out told us we could get home just take it easy. We made it home 5 hours later than expected, but we made it home safe! Thanks Pete and God Bless..Our true Angel!
My water pump decided to go in my truck at 1:30 am this morning. I called these guys and owner Larry said he would have someone there as soon as possible. I was sitting along side 95 South bound. Pete shows up within half hour. Very nice guy also. He asked if someone coming to get me I said no I'm 3 hours from home I got to go to hotel. He said hop in we will take truck to shop then I'll take you to hotel. Here drive out of his way to me to hotels and waited for me to make sure they had rooms. He did and finally found one on the fourth try. Then Larry called me at 8:30am (on Sunday) said what I needed and told me what the cost was for each thing. PRICE WAS A GREAT DEAL.. This man could've charged me triple amount if wanted to but no he was honest from beginning.... If your in area and need work done or towed call these guys. It's very seldom these days you can trust or find an honest mechanic like these guys. THANKS AGAIN GUYS.. they had me on road again in 11 hours on a Sunday... GOOD BLESS YOU
