Stony Knob Cafe. We have been customers for many years. We have never been disappointed with the quality of the food and the service. We had an amazing experience last night. The appetizers were delicious. But the entrees were even better. The octopus, the special of the night - perfectly cooked filet mignon accompanied by a delicious crab cake and sautéed shrimp - was great. I highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic dining experience in a uniquely decorated place. Since 1962 family run and community loved! You gotta go.

Wow. Just wow. Start to finish , amazing. Definitely make a reservation! The Bloody Mary was fantastic- that’s how I want a Bloody Mary to taste, the seabass saute was so delicious and flavorful, perfectly cooked. The rice pudding brûlée was amazing. Our server Elly was very sweet and attentive. 10/10 will be back. Such a cool , chill interesting atmosphere. What a gem!!

As locals, we definitely recommend this place. If you’re visiting the area as a tourist, you should stop by. The food is excellent, the portions are generous — not just big, but truly delicious. The menu is diverse, and the atmosphere is interesting and welcoming. A great spot to enjoy a real local experience.

Ate here for a birthday dinner. Everyone loved everything we ordered. Service was great. Baklava ice cream cake was a little weird and tasted like oatmeal (not entirely a bad thing), but probably wouldn't order again. Everything else we'd absolutely order again!

This place was so amazing! my husband and I had a breakfast date this morning and the food and drinks were so good and fair pricing for sure!! ELI our server was so kind and on top of everything and checked on us often, even offered to box our food for us. def deserves a raise!! thank you for an amazing start to our Sunday! :)

My daughter and I went for breakfast around 10 am on a Sunday. Crowded, but sat us right away. The decor is eclectic and funky. The crowd was a mix of young and old hipsters and flannel wearing folks. If you enjoy a morning cocktail, I assure you, you will not be judged here... I stuck to coffee, but the bloody Mary's at the tables surrounding me looked great. The food? AMAZING! If you like crispy, perfectly seasoned breakfast potatoes, this is your place. No soggy, floppy toast either. I had a perfectly cooked omelet and my daughter ordered the sausage gravy and biscuit breakfast which was enough food for two meals! We will be back next time we are in town!

Amazing food, great service and drinks. Wide selection, everything my party tried was excellent. Greek plate, chicken pot pie, mushroom ravioli, and even the burger was a standout.

Amazing funky place! Wife and I stumbled on this place during recent Asheville overnight. Service is Top Notch! Very proffesional yet warm and inviting. Loved the decor! Something different around every corner. The food was Perfection! The Octopus is a must! The Gnudi were little dumplings of cheesy goodness! The Scallops & braised Pork belly were fanstic!The Risotto is probably the best I've ever had! Can't wait to go back and try some other items!

What a delightful and delicious place to eat! Food was fantastic, service was great. My dining partner had the wild mushroom ravioli which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the Greek style lamb shank which really was fall-off-the-bone tender with a wonderfully flavorful sauce. Somehow we also managed to share (and finish) a slice of coconut cream pie, not because we really had room, but because it was so good.

We went to brunch on Sunday to the Stoney knob Café. We got there 15 minutes early and small line had already formed, but we had no problem getting seated. At the risk of making that queue longer, I’ve got to say this is a great place-unique vibe, and over the top good food. We haven’t tried everything on the menu yet, but we intend to. Our waitress Taylor was super nice, and seemed happy to be there. In fact, everyone in the restaurant seemed happy to be there. We had some friends from Minnesota who spontaneously ordered the biscuits and gravy along with myself . Included Eggs over medium with chopped breakfast potatoes and sausage paddies. The gravy- was …. Splendid. My wife had the huevos rancheros which was also incredibly good. Ambiance is quirky but cool, just like I like it. Don’t everyone flock there at once!!! But - seriously love this place.

We are already looking forward to our next visit. We dined during lunch and hope to grab dinner sometime soon! Chocolate cake is in our near future! Only disappointment was the server not knowing who ‘Gus’ is when asking about a dish on their menu. It lead me to research on my own which yay more knowledge!! Very cool place. Check it out.

I used to go here for work lunch events when I worked in the area and the food was always great. My wife and I went today and had an amazing lunch experience: the Carne Toscana lunch special was out of this world good, and we sampled six different sides in total and they were all delicious! 11 out of 10... We will be back!

One of our favorite places to dine. Great eclectic atmosphere inside. This time I had the scallops and braised pork belly. The sauces were to die for, especially the reduced red wine sauce. I had never had the braised pork belly but it was good. The scallops were cooked perfectly. My wife had the sea bass and butterflied shrimp which was done perfectly. Desert was the sinful chocolate cake. Recommend a reservation. Jordyn was our server and was excellent.

What an amazing meal! Everything was seasoned perfectly and had so many dimensions of flavor! The ambience is so cool, like eating in an art museum. Excellent service and timing. The oldest restaurant in Asheville has figured it out. Yum. Highly recommend. 10/10.

This was the cutest place ever! What beautiful decor and theme. Our server was super sweet. The gyro was fairly decent. Great menu options and drinks.

The coolest restaurant ever. The decor and vibe is amazing. The food was exquisite. I have a wheat allergy and dairy intolerance and there were plenty of options and our waitress was so helpful and kind. 10/10 recommend.

Still our favorite place to go for brunch. Love the combinations. The staff is the best and you know it's a good place to work when you see the same people year after year. Updated review: I would love to know how they come up with the combination for the specials!!!! Always try them and never been disappointed!!! We have become regulars for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Make sure for weekends and evenings to call in for reservations. The food is great and at a fair price. The atmosphere and all the staff we have dealt with have great personalities.

What a cool spot! The service was spectacular, and the food was delicious with a great presentation. Best part of it all - the value! The prices are hard to beat- definitely worth a shot! I indulged in the Sea Bass Saute special and I devoured it. My wife got the meatloaf and was pleased Our one Aunt got the Pimento melt, and the other went with The Cuban- I was jealous of them both even tho mine was amazing!

Good brunch selections! The chicken n waffles were very good, zero complaints! The stuffed French toast also looked fantastic. Crab cake Benedict’s went down well on the table also. Drinks wise I do wish they had a spicy Bloody Mary. Just a normal on the brunch menu and it was just “ok”.

I'm so glad I read so many good things about Stoney Knob Cafe. After a year or so of wanting to go, I finally made it to celebrate a 10 year Frien-versary!(I read in previous reviews suggesting reservations- definitely make them if you decide to go on a Saturday night) We were seated immediately.The ambiance was eclectic and cozy! We sat in the "diner" area. Our waitress was the best. She was so nice, efficient, knowledgeable, communicated often, and went over and beyond! We had 2 appetizers: Grilled Mediterranean Octopus & the Duck Egg Rolls. 3 Entrees: Mamma Minnie's Deep Dish Pizza, The Lamb Shank with mashed potatoes, and Sea Bass over Fettuccine with a tomato vodka sauce and asparagus. We also had 2 desserts: Key Lime Pie and Baklava Ice Cream Cake. Seriously, everything was fantastic!! Everything came out in perfect timing (Note: if you do get the Deep Dish Pizza it takes about 20 minutes to cook- we were already aware because I had done my research but the waitress also told us...lol) *Side Note: We live about 40 minutes away and were going to a movie after, so we brought a cooler (left in our car)knowing this .. our waitress was so kind and was boxing as we asked & labeled everything without us asking and was so helpful.love love 10/10!!!

It’s all about the baklava ice cream! Tips on ordering from a frequent diner. We have been coming to Stoney Knob since they opened. We’ve had some exquisite meals here, and we’ve had some good meals here and we’ve had some very good meals here. Here are some menu items that are consistently outstanding. 1. Good girl pasta (favorite of my mother and my mother-in-law and my daughter) 2. The octopus. It’s always tender 3. The shrimp wrap (lunch only) 4. Baklava ice cream 5. lemon cake Some suggestions for improvement 1. The gyro meat is only OK, so that’s a bit of a disappointment for Mediterranean restaurant. 2. They used to serve delicious bread at dinner; they just brought it to the table, that does not seem to be the case any more. 3. Where is the lemon cake? They used to make such an exquisite light, fluffy lemon cake, and I have not seen it on the menu in a long time. 4. I would love the shrimp wrap to be on the dinner menu as well. It’s just delightful! Servers are usually attentive and smiling, even when they are overrun with tourists, and the atmosphere is always fun! Great wine list as well.

We found the Stoney Knob Cafe by chance while traveling home from Hot Springs. We were very thrilled about the service and food we ordered. The Chicken and Waffles were the best my wife and I have ever eaten. The breakfast special was also top notch. You can really tell the Chef takes pride in what he does. The food was superb. Highly recommended if you are in the area!

Wow, wow, wow. This place was such a surprise. It looks like a diner from the outside and the art on the inside is all over the place…like a floozy on one wall, a bust of David with an ice cream cone for a nose and the last supper on another wall. Looks like Andy Warhol decorated the place when he had one too many. But this food lets you get past the totally eclectic decor. It was amazing. I know this is going to sound a little strange but we had a scallops and pork belly dish over a type of potato pancake with a berries drizzle. It’s some of the best scallops I’ve ever eaten and I’m from Florida. The mushroom ravioli; incredible and the salmon special was wonderful. The prices are in line with local fine dining but worth every penny. Don’t miss this place. Make sure to make reservations because this place fills up fast.

What a fantastic, last minute dinner find after a long day of hiking! The food served was quite a surprise given the almost diner-like outside aesthetic. Delicious cuisine: the grilled octopus appetizer, sea bass and risotto balls (like arancini), deconstructed chicken pot pie, and lemony chicken picatta were awesome. A little pricey, but honestly, the food was great. Our server was nice and the whimsical and quirky decor was really cool.

A unique place with a really cool vibe and a menu that has something for everyone. The interior of this place is funky and probably unlike any restaurant you’ve ever visited. Just check out the pictures! The Duck Spring Rolls and fried oyster appetizers were very good! We thought this was the best part of the meal. We ordered a couple cocktails, the Southern Gentleman and a regular old fashioned, both of which were decent. Our dinner meal was good, but I couldn’t get past the feta cheese on the chicken pot pie. I didn’t think that was necessary and it didn’t add to the dish. The hamburger steak was tasty and the potatoes were excellent. Finally, I thought the portions were good. I can’t imagine that many people leave this place hungry. I really want to visit again for brunch, because I imagine this place may be dialed in for a brunch menu.

Went for a special mother / daughter dinner. The food was amazing. We had calamari for an appetizer, scallops with pork belly and Chicken Picata and finished with a chocolate mousse for dessert. The food is like they make on Top Chef and the service is fast and very friendly. We love the ecletic decor of this place and it is just the best place for a mom and daughter dinner! Would recommend to everyone!!!
