I have to be honest. I was very apprehensive about stopping here, but oh my God! it's a must see, just the owner was there... Gave us full history about the bar. Very cool place, so glad we stopped for a few

Stopped in here a couple years back while I was headed out for a bear hunt. It’s the kind of country bar you hope to find—laid-back, wood-worn, with locals who don’t mind a stranger pulling up a stool. Service was quick and the folks behind the bar treated me right. The regulars were friendly too, the sort that make you feel like you’ve been around longer than a single visit. Only shame is the thought of this spot eventually getting swallowed up by cityits. For now, it’s still the real deal.

Coolest place I've ever been to. You think it's not open upon driving up to the back. Go inside and see the bar isn't anything like the outside of the house . COOLEST

Awesome little hidden gem. Nothing fancy but great people and atmosphere inside .

Planning a vacation for the summer. Used to be stationed at Ft Drum many years ago. Thought I would look for places off the beaten path to visit. This place ended up in my cross hairs. Was reading the reviews and saw a poor review. As it turns out they mentioned this place was covered in Trump flags. Sounded like their poor little souls were offended but it sounds like my kinda place with like minded people. I'll see you this summer!!

Never been here but it’s on my bucket list now. Especially after reading some of the kids 1 star ratings. They seem pretty full of themselves.

Never been but seems like a cool place although I did here from a local if you're not from there you get a good side eye so if that doesn't bother ya I'm sure it's a neat place to check off the bucket list

Was closed when we visited but I love how beautiful this old home is! I posted about it on social media and the amount of people that said Chet makes a good ole fashion means we definitely have to come back!

Just a Bar, no food. But they are always pleasant to sit with. And of course, it looks haunted on the outside, but typical well stocked bar on the inside.

Pretty unwelcoming environment. We (mid 20’s, clearly from the city but respectful, polite, & smiling, especially because we’re visitors to the town) popped in at 4:30pm on a Saturday after reading positive reviews and everyone immediately turned and stared (like continuous cold stares) at us without so much as a smile or nod when we walked in. The older gentleman who was behind the bar did not show any interest in helping us, even after my female friend and I walked up to the bar and politely smiled after saying hello. He proceeded to offer to help 2 other folks (and finished serving them) and then started to walk to the back— still without even saying hello or asking if we wanted anything. It actually took another gentleman sat at the bar (Thank you to him! Appreciate his humanity & kindness) to say “Hey, why don’t you help out these folks first” for him to finally turn to us (mind you, we were standing there clearly politely waiting since we had tentatively walked in). Would not recommend going to Snyder’s if you’re queer, Black, and/or from the city and present in any way as “alternative”. Even if you’re nice, polite, & respectful, you will probably be made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, which was too bad. We ended up having an excuse to leave because they don’t have an ATM and are cash only, but honestly would have left anyway because they didn’t want us there and the bartender, at least, made that extremely clear. Bottom line is we just wanted a drink, to support local, and play a game of pool to celebrate our girl’s bday. Would have been awesome if we could have done that. Don’t worry, old paranoid white men and women of Snyder’s, we won’t be back, no need to lose any sleep at night over it. :) Edit: We mentioned this experience to a co-worker who lives part time in Phoenicia and she said if we’d told her we were thinking of going she would have said never to step foot in there because the building used to be covered in Trump flags. Honestly, given that the hostility is still the same I don’t know why they took them down, would save a lot of folks time!

A Saturday at 3:00. No one there but bartender and 2 local gentleman. Not much interaction. But we loved being there. Very old and funky and clean. As we left, we talked a little. Great Americans. ??

Very welcoming bartenders and crowd. Felt like home on a cold winter evening. Will find an excuse to come back

No food at this tavern but Beverages and accommodating bar tender. We quite enjoyed going there after years of wanting to go.

Want to see an old historical bar that looks scary at night? This is the place. Everyone was nice, but the building itself looks haunted. Check it out!

Drinks mixed at the 100% perfect ratio. Rum, 5 ice cubes and just enough soda the taint the color. All that for the best price I've had one for in a decade. Can't beat the place in my opinion.

If you want to go to a TRUE HOMETOWN JOINT then YOU better stop at Snyder's Tavern. The owner is behind the bar and the Old School Olive Alum are on the stools tipping'em back. Beer is cold and the Pepsi-Cola is in a can?...... a TRUE OLD SCHOOL GREAT DIVE BAR????.

If you’re a local, definitely a nice quiet little place to get a drink. Nothing fancy and if you want bar food it’s going to come out of a bag, there’s no kitchen.

It's a place that time forgot ... a tavern of old. From the road, it looks like a neglected house overgrown with weeds. But inside, its a place where locals who work with their hands go in for a drink. I would refrain from talking politics in here. ;)

Yes - it's really a bar. If the front sign is lit, the place is open. Such a great old, original place! Highly recommended.

Great country bar. Stopped after a hike and were warmly welcomed. Full bar, wine, and large selection of bottled beers.

We had a great time here! Don't let the outside fool you! The home was built in 1910. This bar has the longest continuous liquor liscense in the state of New York . (1933 to present). The owner was really nice to talk to. Just a relaxed and fun atmosphere! We are in the area for a few more days and will definitely be going back!!!

Stopped off here for a late night drink or 3 and its too dang cute you have to see for yourself. Reminds me of the old country song that says "We're gonna hire a wino to decorate our home" It's an old house that has been made into a very small bar with not much of a selection of alcohol, a pool table and juke box. It's where the locals meet up. Just watch some of the locals. For small town they have a bit attitude. Love the owner!!
