For nearly two decades, Scottie and his team have consistently provided honest, reliable, and top-quality service for all my vehicles. Must’ve gone downhill since Junior took over. Work done is not great quality takes forever to get something done and communication is extremely poor. When you call for an update after your vehicle has been sitting there for weeks and the lady on the phone. Tell Scotty just pulled in already, She’s tired of hearing me call. Not only would I not recommend this to a friend I would bring this up as a place to avoid

Been using Scotties since 1996 they won't rip you off and tell you if the vehicle is worth fixing or not. Highly recommend- Scottie and his family are excellent auto mechanics. They work on hybrids and plugins too.

Throughout the years living in the Ithaca area this family operated business is the top of their class. Honest assments and pricing. Their mechanical know how is second to none.

Best mechanics in Tompkins. I've been for a rotor/brake pad repair, and leaky wheel repair. Prices are always reasonable, generous even, they're fast and friendly.

Scottie snr is the best.Their auto repair is top-notch and a very affordable place to fix your car .The mechanics are well trained ,especially Scottie Jr., who is very knowledgeable about all the foreign cars you can mention. LOVE them!!! A girl at work told me about them bc an auto parts shop told her and she loved them too! They are the nicest people and very very honest and affordable! Rev. Dave Robinson My family has lived in Dryden 37 years and we have brought our vehicles to Scotties for well over 20 years. We currently have a 2017 Honda CRV, 2015 Chevy Impala and 2014 Audi A4 and Scott keeps them all running great. Scott’s and Judy’s honesty and integrity have made me a loyal customer over all this time and their business is one of the reasons that Dryden is such a wonderful place to live.

I have only had one experience here with a truck. Also got it inspected. Scottie is a busy man, and he is good with letting you know what he can and can't do within time frames and prices ranges.

I have logged 2.5 million miles behind the wheel in business and have developed a soft bigotry of low expectations of repair shops....until I came to Scotties. There were many reasons why they had a 5 star rating! And why thier parking lot is always jam packed.The simplest being they answer the phone, return your calls in a timely manner, do the work when they say they will, do the work correctly the first time, don't break anything else while they do it, and stand by thier work. They don't just say that....they do it. They have some of the most experienced and talented mechanics I have had the pleasure to work with. If a job needs to be expensive they take the time to explain why but in general thier pricing structure is fair minded without cutting corners. This is the only shop in a 600 mile radius that I would take my special edition vintage Lotus too. They are also humble and will check thier approach with the manufacturer of the vehicle if needed. First rate!! Coming from someone whose been around....I trust them, with my cars....my very livelyhood...wholeheartedly.

In my opinion the best possible independent repair shop! Scottie and his staff are great! Repairs are done on time and done right! No do overs! Prices are more than fair! They are absolutely honest! Family owned and run, just terrific!

I went to three body shops for a tiny problem with the bumper. The other two: One cost me more than 50 bucks and forgot to put one piece back. The other one gave me a ridiculous estimate, basically wanted me to replace everything. Scottie got it done in 10 minutes and charge me 27 dollars only for the clips they used on my car. This is the first time i feel like I'm paying less than they deserve in an auto repair shop. Finally some honesty in car repairing services.

Honest mechanics that do not overcharge. Have been consistently happy with their work. Friendly staff. They can weld on site which can really lesson costs when it comes to repairs on the exhaust (lots of shops will just replace the whole thing even if only one piece needs repair).

So, first off this easily could have been a five star review if not for one really annoying factor. The people were friendly, I was able to get an appointment easily and quickly, the work was done and the price was about what I expected. The communication, however, was awful, and led to me being incredibly stressed for a few days. I took my car in on a tuesday with brake problems, they immediately pulled it in, looked at it and told me they could have it done by that afternoon and that they'd call me when it was done. I got a call a few hours later saying that it was worse than they thought and it would take until 12 on Wednesday. I told them that was fine, I just needed it by 1 on Wednesday for work. Wednesday, I heard nothing from them, so I called around 12:30 to ask if it was done, they told me that they had another issue with it and it was going to take until Thursday at around 10am. I had to frantically find coverage for my shift at work, because they didn't bother to let me know. Thursday comes, around 11am I still hadn't heard from them, so I called to ask if it was done. They told me they were finishing up and it would be done in a half hour, I asked them to call me back when it was done so I could get a ride over to get it. 45 minutes later, I still hadn't heard anything, so I had a friend drop me off, and sure enough it was done, they just hadn't let me know, and I had to hurry out of there after paying to get to work on time. Truly my only issue was the complete lack of communication, I spent two days being anxious about whether or not they would actually let me know when my car was done. Probably will take my car somewhere else next time though, to be honest.

If you need work done, and the cost seems excessive at your regular mechanic, call these guys. They are the most honest and trustworthy mechanics I've encountered in my 26 years as a licensed driver. Scotty and his crew, (mostly family), have been consistently honest and helpful since I started coming to them over a decade ago. Not only are they the most pleasant, and compassionate people I know, but they've likely saved me thousands of dollars in that time because of their extensive knowledge, and caring personalities. They are constantly busy, so MAKE AN APPOINTMENT if you need work done. You won't regret it.

I have owned a car for the past 50 years and have been to many garages as a customer. The folks at Scottie's are the best. Honest, trustworthy, congenial, more than fair, and willing to walk the extra mile for their customers. I won't go anywhere else.

Hands down Scotties is the best mechanic in CNY. Always honest, always dependable. The team is skilled, friendly, and efficient. Every member of the crew has taken time to talk through their work with me from a simple inspection to a complex job. The shop is popular, always operating at max capacity, but somehow they always work quickly and do a quality job. Scottie has frequently gone above and beyond, but never over charges. They are also never looking to make unnecessary work which is great if you are a DIY mechanic like me, or just looking for honest answers. It is rare these days to find a mechanic with such integrity in his craft and a team that commands as much respect.

Scottie bent over backwards to get me the best price on my rebuilt transmission, and his crew took very good care of me. This family business is honest, friendly, and affordable. Referred to me by a friend, I will refer them to mine.

I went to Scotties because I was friends with his son, who works for him, when I was in school. I brought my car into Scotties last year to get my power steering pump replaced and an oil change. My first problem was that they closed my hood and said I'm all good to go and I began to drive but they had left my oil cap off of my engine and motor oil sprayed all over underneath the hood and even though it has been cleaned, it has caused slow damage over time. That was the day I stopped dealing with Scotties auto. I had my power steering pump "replaced" for $750 and then that same week it broke again, brought it back into the shop and got it "replaced" one more time for another $750. I had thought that the power steering pump had been replaced and was working fine because the leak had stopped for quite awhile. But, it has been less than one year since they "replaced" it twice and my new mechanic who is very honest and upfront pulled the pump out and showed me that it was covered in rubber bands and had never even been replaced! So I basically paid $1,500 for some rubber bands. This is a true story and I'm posting this so everyone knows. Scottie has probably done some honest work before at some point in his life but he stole over a thousand dollars from me and there's no way I can prove it at this point. !!So, no don't bring your vehicle here unless you want to be ripped off royally.!! This place needs to get shut down. STAY AWAY. Who knows what else he did to my car when he had it, but now after having him work on it I have to trade my car in and get a new one. Bad business. Untrustworthy. Poor excuse for a mechanic and anyone who says otherwise, it's just a matter of time before they realize his mistakes. My sister had a similar problem with his work and refuses to go there now too. I know you can't trust everything you read online but seriously, save yourself the stress and go to a different shop. It's not worth it even though he offers payment plans.

I've come here for a variety of services with two different vehicles and they've always been very friendly and most importantly, honest. They won't try to nickel and dime you with things you don't need like many places do. They only suggested the necessary work to get my car running the way it should and the mechanics there were very knowledgeable. Thank you to everyone at Scottie's Auto! (Hi, Scott. This is the guy with the donuts.) Well, this is my very first time to write the "review thing" on Google. Anyone who has a German (especially Mercedes) should check this place rather than the crazy expensive Mercedes dealership at Syracuse. I visited here and asked powertrain-related jobs includes quite a tricky differential issue. Yes, Mercedes (and other Germans as well) have unnecessary over-engineering stuff in their cars. It is absolutely the mechanical beauty, but in the real world, it is hard to find repair shops for owners who live in small city/town (like Ithaca). As I tried a lot to find the decent auto shop for my Mercedes in Ithaca, sadly, NONE of the auto shops in Ithaca area can handle Mercedes like Scottie's. Yes, I probably tried with around 15 auto shops and you can trust me. If you are a German owner in Ithaca, you probably tried with AJ auto shop (the only so-called, foreign specialist) in Ithaca, but AJ is infamous for their high dollar bills with low-quality jobs. Other nation-wide big name shops in Ithaca, they cannot handle the Mercedes. The Mercedes dealership at Syracuse, they are solid, but they will charge you thousands of dollars. I used Cuse Mercedes dealership for 3 years and spent tons of bucks already. I know there are many Ithacans who having trouble to find the right place for their German cars. Well, this is the place for us. - For other car owners than German, well, as a car enthusiast, I have to say, you guys definitely need to check the Scottie's for yours as well. I will keep writing / updating my review for this place as I will visit this place with the additional service request soon.

Friendly, dependable , trustworthy. In today's world that's all you want from a mechanic. Scottie has always been honest and straightforward and never tried to do more than needed. I appreciate good fast service but it's the sense of trust I get from Scottie that I appreciate the most.

Scottie is a wonderful man and a genius at fixing cars. This is a family business where I always feel comfortable. Many times I thought my car needed expensive repairs and was pleasantly surprised when these mechanics fixed it simply and cheaply. There were times when I thought my car could not be fixed and they came up with an idea to save it. Scottie and his family are always polite and go out of their way to be helpful. This is the first review I have ever written but feel the honesty and competence of this business deserves recognition.

I was very happy with the service I received at Scottie's. While driving one day, there was a burning rubber smell, and upon inspection, one of the rear tire rims was flaming hot. It was too late to bring the car in for repairs, so early the next day I called around. Every other repair shop I called was booked and wouldn't even take a look to see what the problem was. I called Scottie's and he told me to bring it in for a look (even though he was very busy for the day). I left the car there for a few hours. I received a phone call later explaining that he couldn't see any problems, and that the parking break had probably jammed, but was fine now. Other mechanics could have easily said that there was a problem just to get some extra money, but they were honest at Scottie's. Even more, when I went to pick up the car, he didn't want to charge me for his time! I am truly happy that I found a place that I can trust to bring my car for repairs.

As I'm sure is the case for most of us, a friendly and straightforward mechanic is hard to come by. Fortunately, you can stop looking; these guys get the job done right. Call and schedule an appointment, they'll look at it and either take care of it then and there or schedule another quick appointment if they need to order a part. You can wait there while they take care of it. Took about an hour and I was on my way. Cheap, too! Give these guys your business.

Scottie's Auto Repair is a bit out of the way from where I live, but based on what I'd heard about his business, I decided to try his shop. I was smelling a potential gas leak from my car, but not seeing any dripping or fluid anywhere. Scott and his well trained staff found the problem in five minutes; a broken filler neck. And when I mentioned my car had been pulling, they checked my wheel bearings for me and found my right front bearing was not in good shape. He was able to order a part in very timely fashion and for a great price. It's one thing to be impressed by the prices and service, but it's another thing to feel a sense of trust with the people who are working on your car. It's extremely hard to put a price on that, especially when other mechanics are far too willing and able to "create" and "imagine" problems with your car that aren't there. I strongly, strongly recommend Scottie's as I know I'll continue to make them my go-to mechanics. It's family owned with a wonderfully nice staff, two lifts, a license to perform inspections, and a level of trust that puts me at ease leaving my car in their hands. It may sound like a bit of a cliche' but I can't say enough about how pleased I am with this shop.
