I went to Annie’s Ruff Cut last week and the experience was interesting in a good way. First thing, getting in can be a little confusing. The parking is in the back and the entrance is only from the back. At first I thought I missed the place, but then I noticed two doors back there, one for the kitchen and one for the bar, and realized that’s the main way in.
Once inside, the vibe was great. It’s full of local, friendly people and feels very authentic, not fake or touristy. When I arrived, there was a live singer performing, which made the atmosphere even better.
I ordered the chili and that was amazing, easily the highlight of the meal. I also got a burger. I ordered it medium but it came out well done. It was still good, just not exactly how I asked for it.
One thing they absolutely get right is the beer. Bottled beer comes out ice cold, they keep it in a cooler packed with ice, and it’s perfectly chilled.
Overall, solid local spot with good energy, great chili, cold beer, and live music. I’d definitely go back, especially for the vibe.
There’s a gem in the Borscht Belt called Annie’s Ruff Cut. The locals have known about it for decades and go for the quality and value. Whether it’s the vibe of great food, it’s a carnivore’s must-stop if you’re visiting. The roast beef is served perfectly, sliced so super thin, with that full-flavor juicy reduction for dipping. Order the beef cold, and it’ll be the rare. Or, order it warm, and it’ll be dipped in, just to cook it enough, Also a fan of the chicken wings, but get them when it’s not busy or early on wings night. Bourbon is my favorite. The burger is generously sized and does the trick—it’s delicious l. The Mac and Cheese isn’t worth it unless your kids ask for it.
This place is a staple of mine anytime I am in the area. Sometimes the food takes a little while to come out but its a different pace up there. Relax and enjoy it.
Ate here a couple of times. Last night was off. Had a crab cake special and it was fishy and I got sick for 3 days. It was not even close to what a crab cake looks like. It was two thin fried pieces that were horrible.
Annie's Ruff Cut was a tasty delight. Our whole table ordered their mouth watering roast beef sandwiches and left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. Great place!
What a great little place, sat and chatted. The server was great, no pressure to oder food. When we eventually did order, food was excellent and plenty. Good times.
Would have been 5 stars all around- but took 1 hr 10 mins to get our order. 4 tables came in after us. Nd were served before us. Last served last to heave. To be fair they looked short staffed and it was before a concert - but our waitress barely acknowledged us or told us our food was delayed.
Arrived on a Thursday evening to find the place moderately busy. Was told to sit anywhere. After having time to thoroughly review the menu, was told we couldn’t sit where we were. We were moved to another table with no offer to take our order. Eventually, a drink order was taken and we were told someone else would take our food order. Drinks then arrived timely. Halfway through our drinks, someone finally asked if we were ready to order. We were then told the kitchen was “backed up” and that food would take 30 - 45 minutes. We paid for our drinks and went elsewhere. Hate to have to leave a 1 star review, but going to a restaurant and then not eating is pretty much the definition of a 1 star experience.
Unique little eatery with amazing food. I tried the patty melt and it was the best patty melt I've ever had. Kind of bar atmosphere, but mixed with fast casual. Server was kind. Usually dead around early afternoon before lunchtime.
We visited Annie's Ruff Cut while on vacation. We had no information going in, we just walked into the place. Very nice atmosphere, and exceptionally friendly service. The food was better than the usual expected bar food, especially the roast beef which was excellent. We had a great experience there and next time we are in the area this will definitely be a place we seek out to visit again!
Hello! I came here thinking this was an amazing choice for me and my family. But I was sadly dissapointed. After ordering the salad, I was expecting a good size portion. After waiting for what felt like hours, it finally arrived. After all this time, I just wanted a quality salad to fill me up. However, this salad was one of the worst thing I have ever had. Every order came out separately, and mine came out last! I am very dissapointed because I was hoping for a good meal. I attached the photo of the purely disgusting salad which was supposed to have bacon in it but didn't! Not my favorite place in the area
Am oasis in a rural area with few restaurant choices. Plenty of tables and seats. Same goes for the bar. Their roast beef is especially delightful and delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Clean establishment. Go there. You will be happy that you did.
Having a girl's trip to Cochecton and decided to make a pit stop here. My friend and I split a Bull Dog and the Philly Boy. So damn good! We also split wings between the 4 of us, the lemon pepper dry rub. I'm not a big lemon fan but they were darn yummy!
Had a golf outing at Villa Roma up the road from this place. After a round of golf, six of us went there for lunch. Sat down, took about 15 minutes till someone came to our table. Waitress was new and very nice. We immediately ordered food and drinks since it was crowded. Over an hour had passed and no food. We notice people coming in after us and getting food rather quickly. We were told our food was coming it’s just that we were six orders so would take longer. Apparently that was false as others were taken care of quickly. We eventually left without getting our food. Sad because the staff is poorly managed. So if you go make sure you stay on top of your wait time.
This place is ridiculous. Best roast beef sandwich I ever had. I went 3 times in 4 days while staying at villa roma. I loved it, absolutely amazing roast beef
Great food and friendly staff. Th Ruff Cut Roast Beef and Pretzel Fries were outstanding. Nice selection of drinks. The place was very clean and has a nice deck to sit on, have a drink and enjoy a meal. Highly recommend this place. Will definitely be back!
