I spent approximately $700 to have a faulty tire pressure warning light repaired. Reid Bros. claimed that four new tire pressure sensors were needed. The new sensors did not resolve the problem. I will not use Reid Bros. again.
Easy, got an oil change and tire rotation. Also had questions/concerns and they look into them. Call ahead for appts. I’ll probably come here again for the inevitable fixes
Overpriced, much cheaper and better service elsewhere. $400 for labor for a wheel repair and oil change? I came in to get an inspection and left with a $700 bill! Ridiculous!! I feel completely played and taken advantage of.. but I’ll be sure to go elsewhere in the future.
I read some of the bad reviews on this page and can't believe they're talking about the same garage. I am NOT a Sag Harbor local. I'm visiting for a few weeks and, for various reasons, had to bring my beater Subaru in for service on axle, oil, electrical, tire sensors. They knew I was from out of town, and could tell that I knew nothing about cars which makes me a target for overcharging and doing unnecessary work. They could NOT have been nicer, they did the work in a timely fashion, charged really reasonable rates, and actually encouraged me to NOT do work that would have made them a LOT of money. Suffice to say, Reid Brothers is one of the three things I love about Sag Harbor other than the beach and the Whaling Museum.
I like these guys and they are probably competent mechanics. But they just charged me $141 for an oil change for my 2017 Ford Explorer. I’m not talking about anything else other than a straight up oil change. In the past I have paid between $60-$80 elsewhere.
I understand that a lot of vendors will thieve on people coming out for the summer. But I’m a local and robbing me is unacceptable. The only way any an establishment whether it be a restaurant, service station or whatever will stop gouging practices is if people stop using them. I would urge anyone and everyone to seek service anywhere else. Unless you like paying double for something.
I wish I can give it 0 stars. They had my husbands car for days. They charge him over $1,000 and did shotty work. We now have to have all that work redone. Plus they put a hole in a line which was leaking fluid. So we also had to get that fixed. Dont waste time or money! Also my husband is a purple heart veteran. They are a disgrace!
Prices are ridiculous, was way overcharged. During a state inspection I asked them to take a look at my tire that had a slow leak. Didn't realize they'd charge me over $100 just for that part and tell me nothing was wrong. And after that inspection I went from refilling that tire weekly to daily.
Their hourly rates are super high too.
My daughter on her way to work hit a curb and damaged the control arm and joist. Being a dad and not being there was worrisome enough. I choose them based on reviews here. Honest friendly and cheaper than the dealer with better service. Thanks Doc!
I do most of my own work on my cars. Brakes, tuneups, AC, Shocks/struts, etc. When it's more than I can or want to handle, I have found Reid Bros. to be knowledgeable, thorough, and reasonably priced. I would recommend them.
These guys are the worst!. Kept my car for thirteen weeks to do a five-six hour job and charged me $400 more then the dealer quoted. "Doc" Reid barked like a junkyard dog when I stopped by to ask about the car. Stay away.
These guys are great! I trust them 100%. They get the job done and they will tell you if something can wait or if it's an urgent fix. Thank you Reid Brothers for great service!
Reid Bros is my mother's mechanic. I went in to get a car checked before I wanted to buy it. I drove the car to their shop, and the brakes were acting funny, so when I went in I specifically told the head mechanic "The brakes are funny. They fade, and aren't consistent." he said "What year is the car?" I said "1990." His response was "Oh. This car is going to be different than what you're used to!" That was the only answer he gave me no matter what I asked him about it. They charged $75 for the inspection, marked a few things off as "Ok" or "Good Condition," that ended up not being "Ok," marked the brakes as "Brakes Good" on the review. Told us the car was generally a good car for how old it is, and the make and model. So I purchased it. So the brakes continued to cause concern and issue, so I took it to MY mechanic, and he called back saying "Your front brakes are the average disc brakes, those are fine. Your rear brakes however are drum brakes, those are a bit of work to take off and check out, but we did and you have brake fluid leaking all over your brakes, and a main piece that is responsible for this other part of the brake [forget the name of it] to work has fallen apart. I don't know how this car passed inspection in April, and the other mechanic probably looked at the brake, saw it was a drum and thought 'forget it,' because of the added labor involved and checked them off as 'Ok' anyway." So $420 later, the brakes are better but still giving me issues, so I bring it back in thinking the new brakes just need adjusting as they told me the brakes might, so they adjust them and off I go. Brakes are still giving me issues. I bring it back in, and the mechanic says "Not only was it your drum brakes falling apart, your cylinder that is responsible for brake pressure is also completely worn." Now $620 later, the brakes are as good as new! And that mechanic actually showed me and explained to me all of the parts and their functions so I'd understand, not "This is a different car than what you're used to!" But, I also found out that I have two oil leaks in two different hoses, and one other part associated with that leak needs changing due to wear and a crack which will cost me another $600!!! But thankfully not an urgent, but just inconvenient, fix. But if I had known all of these issues were there, and the "Check Before Purchase" review had been done properly and accurately, I would never have bought this car knowing all of this. So now I am $2100 in the hole. Instead of just the $1500 I bought the car for and it's $30 oil change... I have heard horrible, sketchy things about this place from friends of mine and other people, but trusted my mother's history with these guys (not that it's THAT great), and got screwed. They also over price for everything! SO not worth it, and would/will NEVER recommend this place to anyone, not even for an oil change... Who knows if they actually did it, or did it right and they charge you anyway... Never again.

Robert promised a repair in a day without checking parts availability. When I came back to pick up the car, I was told it would be another 4-5 days!
When I asked for my keys back, he started cursing at me.
Horrifically bad.
