Nothing but good things to say! Staff are always pleasant and helpful whenever I bring scrap

TLDR- Small, chaotic scrap yard with questionable pricing. I'll preface this by saying I've been to most of the scrap yards on Long Island and this one is definitely on the sketchier side. I called in the morning to check on pricing and was quoted a price (which I was told wouldn't really change for the item). When we got to the yard it was chaotic (which is expected) except there wasn't anyone directing the chaos. Eventually we flagged down an employee who seemed annoyed that we were even there (as did the rest of the employees we dealt with) and we started offloading (maybe it was just the language barrier). Off the bat he told us certain types were "garbage" and the rest were going to be $1.25 vs the $1.50 I was quoted over the phone (we only chose this place because of their pricing). When we eventually got paid out I noticed the amount was substantially lower than I expected and we realized that the main bulk of what we brought was charged at $0.20 instead of the $1.25 we were told prior to weighing. We pointed out the problem and it was shrugged off as "a minor mistake" (that was conveniently the difference of ~$100 dollars). I'm not accusing them of doing it intentionally but for a place that does this all day every day, you would think those "mistakes" don't happen. We later realized that they lumped some of our more valuable scrap in with the lower grade stuff during weighing, which wouldn't have happened at the larger scrap yards. While we know the yard isn't out here to pay top dollar for scrap, it puts a bad taste in your mouth when stuff like that happens. I'm sure if you're local and just looking to get rid of bulk scrap this place is convenient, but if you're selling more valuable stuff I would recommend going elsewhere.

Worker wanted to buy a tool set I brought there. He put it on side out of my view and never paid me. I should have turned it in as scrap. Be careful out there.
