Do not go there ! Worst customer service ever. This Gus guy thinks he can talk to people however he wants… asking people for extra and then get an attitude when he doesn’t get the answer he wants. Terrible !!
Gus and his mechanics and office staff are knowledgeable, skilled, professional, and friendly. I took my 2010 Honda CRV in for a few different issues and his team fixed them all! They don’t take advantage of female customers - an experience I’ve had with many other mechanics. I highly recommend him to everyone in the Long Beach area.
Finally figured out the incompetency and wrong doing here. I brought the car in for a new wiper blade and a new battery. The mechanic broke the arm that holds the wiper blade and did not put the spring back in. Of course they didn’t tell me and denied breaking it. I was sold a new wiper blade on this arm but noticed the mechanic struggling to get the arm back on. The arm was working fine before I brought it to Gus. But after going there and paying for the blade that was put into a perfectly functioning arm, the blade did not touch the window. That’s because the spring was now missing. They broke my arm. I then brought it back to Gus, who denied breaking it. He said the arm was broken and he wants to sell me another arm. So he had put a new wiper on an arm that he broke.
He did not budge and I left and took it to my Lexus dealer who explained what Gus auto shop had done wrong and that they used too much force. Gus gave my car back to me without telling me they had broken it.
While I was at Gus to get the blade Gus said to make an appointment for me to get new brakes. I replied I just had the breaks changed. He says, “How do you drive? You press the brake pedal too much.” I said I hardly ever drive and it’s just on the Meadowbrook, but I made the appointment. But then I decided to take my car across the street to get a second opinion. There I was told I did not need new brakes - I suspected Gus was scamming me because the brakes worked fine and hadn’t been used that long. Just a year and rarely, , actually, just for a few months. So I called Gus to cancel the appointment and when I told them I did not need brakes, the office worker said that Gus had not removed the wheel, to look and determine whether the brakes were good or bad, he had only looked without removing the wheel. So he was planning to change my brakes without ever checking their condition. Also, at a previous visit where I paid for an oil change, the car did not feel like new Oil had gone in. Certainly not Mobile 1. I was also sold brakes and rotors another time and now I question if the rotors were done - I question it all.
For this broken windshield wiper arm that Gus broke and refuses to replace nor pay for, I’m taking him to court. And reporting him. Don’t go to Gus Auto Shop in Long Beach NY.
I cannot thank Gus, the owner of this shop enough. I drove from Boston to Long Beach for a friend’s bridal shower, when my 2020 Jeep started squealing with an hour left in our trip. The next morning, I went to Gus’s shop with a friend to explain my predicament (brakes were more than likely shot and I was hoping to able to make it back to Boston on Sunday.) He met us with a warm and welcoming presence and reassured me that he would be able to take care of the issue in no time (which he did!)
As a 30 year old female, I tend to avoid auto body shops because I am intimidated and have had a few unfriendly encounters, but from the moment we arrived, the owner treated us like family to the point I made a comment that he must have a daughter/child our age (which we later found out he did)
If you’re in the Long Beach area and you’re looking for an auto body shop you can trust, Gus’s Auto Repair is the place to go.

I went to Gus’s on a Friday afternoon to have my car looked at when I heard it making a strange noise. The team quickly diagnosed the issue, but what I’m most thankful for is the way Gus explained the issue to me in detail so that I really understood it. He was also able to salvage a $200 part that may have otherwise needed replacement. The office workers were also welcoming and kind! I’m thankful to have found a new “car home” here !

Great shop! It can feel a little intimidating not knowing much about cars but Gus’s Auto has the most honest and caring staff I’ve experienced! Will never go anywhere else
I’ve been here a handful of times for oil changes and inspections and every person in there is so kind and efficient! Today, I stopped in because someone hit my car in a parking lot and my bumper was rubbing against my tire. They instantly took my truck in to move the bumper away from the tire free of charge. These people are beyond kind and made my bad day so much better! I will absolutely going to them for all car related work moving forward!! Highly recommend!!!!

Extremely Unsafe and Aggressive !!!
I highly recommend avoiding this place for your own safety. I had a terrible experience recently when I accidentally parked there for only 5 minutes. The owner/big bald man of the establishment confronted me aggressively, to the point where I genuinely feared for my own safety. He even went as far as blocking my car door from closing, displaying an alarming level of hostility. Thankfully, my girlfriend was present and managed to deescalate the situation. It's worth mentioning that I am trained in self-defense, so while the owner didn't physically harm me, his intentions were clear - he wanted to start a fight.
I have never been treated with such disrespect and aggression before. It's important to prioritize our safety and avoid places where the owner exhibits such behavior. I urge others to consider their own well-being and steer clear of this establishment.

I went to Gus’s because my car was extremely loud & had an issue with the exhaust. They diagnosed & repaired my car in a timely manner & did a great job. The price was reasonable too. Not to mention the office staff being very friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back to Gus’s. Recommend to anyone needing car repair or inspection.

Gus is the most honest and fair mechanic you could have. He towed my car in after a bad break down on the parkway and would stop at nothing to get it running again! Don't trust anyone else with your car!
Gus was awesome from start to finish. For me, trust is key. Gus came on the suggestion of a friend, and it turned out perfectly. I strongly recommend Gus’s to anyone who needs anything from a flat fixed to major body and engine repairs. My daughter got rear-ended, causing front and rear damage to our vehicle. It came back like new from Gus’s. Just awesome.
I’ve been meaning to write a review for a while. Gus is excellent. Honestly I go to repair shops thinking I will be taken advantage of and I absolutely never-ever got that feeling at this place. Very professional and does a great job! Super happy to have a place like this in the neighborhood.
I have been going to Gus Auto 20+ years and he is the nicest, fairest mechanic I know. His business is reputable and used by many. The guys in the shop are great. His secretary Sarah is phenomenal.
Gus is a very honest man. Best mechanic I ever met.
I first met him when friend’s car wouldn’t start. After leaving the car overnight he told us a cable came off and he put it back. We didn’t owe him anything. He could’ve easily told us it was going to be a few hundred dollars because he fixed the problem. He did not!
I have been taking my car to him ever since. He is reasonably priced and has very fast service. Never left my car sitting there without care more than a few hours.
