My wife literally won’t come here alone due to the way the employees act. They treat you like you’re a criminal if they didn’t see your sticker and they default to assuming you’re trying to get away with dumping for free. I’ve lived in town for many years now and it used to be a pleasant experience, they were actually friendly and helpful. The past few years? Terrible, abrasive, borderline abusive. I don’t know his name but there is one older gentleman in particular that is particularly bad. I assure you, if we were trying to dump without a sticker we’d do it without calmly stopping, taking our time to make sure we’re at the right pile of waste, putting on gloves, etc, etc. My wife shouldn’t come home feeling like she was mistreated because she wanted to dump some garden waste, my kid shouldn’t get treated like he robbed a bank because he tried to throw a garbage bag away in the garbage can near the little office shed thing (literally, one small, empty, crumpled up garbage bag). To public works, who I assume is in charge at the town level, step in and do something about it. Do better.

Keep it out of the landfill! Recycling center has containers for all-metal recycling and electronics. It is also an unexpected good place to find things, such as the gorgeous wine glasses, plastic shelving, working CD player, and how-to carpentry book I picked up there. These were things that I needed. Get your mulch here, too. UPDATE: they added clothing and fabric recycling! Limited Seasonal firewood added!

Abrasive, and abusive to residents, Jack yells and curses at visitors to the Cranford Recycling Center, doing a great disservice to the town and residents for whom he is hired to serve. Jack Is the nastiest employee to work in the dump/ recycling center in more than 25 years. It is not what he says that is so bad, it is the tone. He has driven really good employees to quit and made for a very unpleasant experience of dumping grass clippings for residents. Someone in a responsible position in Cranford Public Works has had to defend Jack the horrible hire. Otherwise, he would have been replaced a long time ago. There are more than 20,000 residents in Cranford. All deserve better than Jack. Shame on Public Works for hiring and keeping Jack on staff.

New -er guys are very helpful. Take scrap metal now too. Agree that there should be more gravel laid down to make traversing the ground not so muddy.

Recycling center does not just take cans, cardboard and glass, but motor oil, electronics and Styrofoam. The staff has always been helpful.

Cranford conservation center continues to be a mud pit. Taxes are obviously not being allocated to make this a usable environment. Workers are no help as well.
