Been going to this place since I moved back to town in 2023. I really like this group because I never feel like I'm being jerked around and if they do recommend an additional service, they've done a great job explaining to me why it should be done. If you're looking for white glove treatment, maybe this isn't your place. But if you want great mechanics who know their stuff and do a solid job, I can't recommend them enough.

I grew up in a household of mechanics, we always had hotrods and classics.
When I finally found Chet, I felt like I was dealing with the real McCoy. New car or old. This place can handle it.
And their staff is great to work with.
I only discovered this wonderful place this past year. Chet was able to detect why the check engine lights were coming on when I had other places try but not fix it. He even explained how he fixed it. They go above and beyond. Their prices are fair and the whole place has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Five stars are not enough!
A few months back I got tires rotated from Chet's. Later when I went to another shop to get new tires I was told that a stud on one of the tires has been tightened so much that it needs to be broken for the new tire to be installed. When I took the car back to Chet's to put a new stud in place of the one which needed to be broken, he charged me $132. On top of that he refused to take any responsibility for the improperly installed original stud and instead tried to blame it on the well reputed tire shop.
Outstanding service. Chet and his team are hands down the best mechanics within 25 miles.
Very honest people. If you've been taken advantage of my mechanics before, (like I have) you will not experience that here.

Called the place up a week before for a car inspection, they said to come at 9am. I arrive the day of at the 9am, greet two people standing by the garage who don’t greet me back and continue their conversation. Once I’m arms length the man acknowledges me and says the person doing the inspection is running late, callback in an hour. I ask him to call me instead which he agrees. 11am rolls by and I call them back, no word on the arrival of the inspector, apparently caught in traffic and offers to call me back later. Still no call by the end of the day or end of the week. Unprofessional but whatever. I call Gelormini's in the next town over, Betsy was wonderful, prompt and courteous. Got me scheduled and followed up to let me know when my car was ready. Night and day experience, wouldn’t recommend Berkeley Auto Services to anyone.

Each time I have been extremely satisfied with their work. I trust them and highly recommend them to anyone needing car care services performed. Highly recommend Berkeley Auto Services! Today I took my car to have the tire sensor replaced. They checked it and told me that the sensor and battery were fine. It was only because I didn't inflate the tires enough. They inflated all the tires and didn't charge me a penny. The dealer's estimate price was 1,300$, but Berkeley Auto Services’s estimate price was only about 500$. At the end I didn’t spend any money. They are so nice! He said: You don’t need to spend unnecessary money! Last time, I saw some unknown liquid on the ground under the car. I went to their place. They took a look and said there was no problem and they didn't charge any fee! A big thumbs up! We go there to replace the battery and oil of our car, and the price is indeed very reasonable! Five-star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thought I'd found a reliable repair shop in town, but just picked up my car to find extra $100 charge on bill. This is not the first time Chet has quoted me a price, but because "the wrong part was sent" (it's never his fault) the price is double or more, than the actual part needed. Last time the parts guy sent the wrong tires, this time a sensor -because "THEY didn't ask for exact car model." Instead of owning the fact that HE should give specifics about the car model when ordering, & calling me with the updated price, Chet forges ahead with the repair & blames me for questioning the bill & the parts people for not guessing what he needs. I've chalked these mistakes up to poor communications in past years but the lack of accountability for repeated bumbling is unacceptable for someone entrusted with the care of my cars.
Chet was super accommodating and was able to take me in last minute for a starter replacement. He was very honest and upfront about the cost. Thank you Chet! I will be back
Chet and his team have become our mechanic since Rich's Auto in Gillette, NJ closed. Chet has worked on my family's vehicles and every experience with them has been great. Honest and timely service, fair pricing too. You won't be disappointed!

I brought my sons 1995 wagon that my aunt left him to Berkeley Auto - My son is taking the car across country and I asked Chet to go through the whole car and fix anything that was wrong - Chet said he would go through it like it was his own sons - A less reputable shop would have found all kinds of things wrong with the car to make a profit - My bill from Chet was $200. He fixed and recharged the air conditioner and some other minor repairs - I have not had a bill that small in decades - what a great local reputable shop with an honest owner -
Friendly service with knowledgeable staff. Given that this is not a brand-name place, it also seems that they don't charge a premium like the typical car service franchises do.
I’ve been coming to Chet and his team for well over 20 years, for service on my mother’s Mercedes. Hands down 100% I fully trust these guys with all the advice and repairs they have preformed every single time. I would say I bring the car in on average 3 to 4 times a year for numerous services. The timing and the pricing are very fail. They do a great job. They are the only ones I trust. You can not go wrong, and no reason to go anywhere else. They are polite and explain everything clearly. SUPER customer service and turnaround time. I got a tire pressure light on. I checked all four tires and found no issue. First thing next morning I Took the car to Berkeley Auto. They gladly helped and found low tire pressure in my spare tire in the trunk. They patiently explained the issue to me as well. All that for $0 charge. I’ve serviced my car there before but didn’t expect free consultation and prompt service this time around. Thank you so much!
I've been dealing with Berkeley Auto for about a year now, first when Gerry was the owner and now with Chet, the new owner. They are a great shop with fair prices and knowledgeable technicians. You are always treated with respect and not made to feel inferior like some shops due to your lack of car knowledge. They are not pushy or intimidating either when it comes to service.
