Had a pleasant experience at Blewetts recently after a not so pleasant experience at another one. Clean facility and staff was helpful from the guys in the back to the young woman at the window.
Absolute robbery copper prices. I've been to a different scrap yard in NJ last week and got triple the price. Do not go here it's a rip off. They say prices are posted but I called ahead and nobody knew nothing. Sorry I wasted my time and scrap copper at this place... Same old computer generated replies. The prices are conveniently located no where near the scales so you unload before you know they are robbing you.
Bad experience with this place. I went to sell copper for 256 pounds and they paid me 0.50 per pound and they put low voltage cable on the ticket. It's a rip-off. There's no complaint about the price of the new copper, but the old copper is very cheap.
Large variety of things they can recycle for you. Simple enough, experience was actually pretty decent at their yard. However, the prices they’re paying relative to nearly everywhere else suck big time. Wish we’d taken the time to just check what they were paying before we did the work of bringing everything to them. Do your due diligence, take a minute to compare prices.
They gave me four dollars to scrap a 25 lb wheel with a tire on it. Originally told me over the phone it was no charge to take the tire off the wheel once I got there told me there was a charge to take the rubber off. Didn’t even weigh the wheel.
Lady working the register had a horrible attitude literally mocked me for asking a simple question. Also the worst copper prices I’ve seen so far for scrapping my jaw literally dropped when I saw the price per pound that I got back. Do yourself a favor and go up north if you want fair copper prices and good customer service
They get 1 star because zero stars in not an option, but Everyone working there is disrespectful & miserable. Wouldn’t recommend going there. Beacon scrap metal in freehold is a much better experience.
I used to come here a lot but after the other day I remembered why I stopped coming. I’ve gone to plenty of scrapyards, I have NEVER seen someone BEFORE weighing waste 5-10 minutes of my time to clip off all of the #1 copper ball and gate valve handles, literally taking money out of my pocket. I’ll drive the extra 10 mins to go to make that extra 5-10$ at beacon, thank you.
Have been coming to Blewetts for 25 years plus. Always with the same Loads electronic equipment. It never was the friendliest place but it was easy and the prices were average. My last load weighed 2800 pounds But they took off 1400 pounds for plastic whiched totaled no more than 200 pounds. That’s fine, Your business, you call the shots, but to do it after the truck is unloaded , right when you’re getting ready to be paid with some arbitrary number off the top your head ? Of what the plastic Weighed? Without any discussion, Is rude and sketchy. . It’s a business transaction and you are not to be treated as if you’re a thief. When I was never told that plastic was a problem in 25 years . I left feeling like I just got Robbed. !
So they just gave me 20 cents a pound (274 lbs)for cat6 and security wire when anyone else would be roughly 55-65 cents...I was told it was "low grade" wire.... not sure what that means but I have other options and will not be coming back
Love going to this scrapyard family owned with good honest hardworking employees I take my kids with me and the ladies in the office give them candy.....I once ran out of gas in mid July and john blewett himself gave me 3 gallons to get to a gas station free of charge awesome family!!!!!
Place is VERY SLOW moving..... You aren't as important as the discussions about lunch or who got what for lunch. Prices are not average. But no options close by. But they can be polite , if you are viewed as a "local".

Worst place ever. They stole my money. I had mobile home skirting alot of it and they gave me $3.60 for the whole thing. It was aluminium. There thiefs.
