I had a long review a week ago, but I was threatened to take it down or I'd be sued for slander! So, all I'll say is if you pay cash, for instance, for a starter in June, make sure you get a receipt because if you have an issue, you'll be told he never did the job, "I must have the wrong shop"!! I've noticed if he gets low reviews, he calls YOU the liar. I called the owner after he told me to take the review down, to speak as adults, and wanted invoice for starter for my records and I would then remove the review. He still insisted he didn't do the job, or he just forgot since he said "he's so busy". But after paying him $938.00 in Aug to do my fuel pump, I questioned if I even needed the starter since my car had the same start issue after starter was put in and he told me I never had the starter installed at his shop. I dropped it off there, picked it up there and spoke to the mechanic who did he job. He took it for a test drive a few days after fuel pump installed and within a minute, told me I had an exhaust leak. When he told me this, I was beyond shocked since he told me HE was the one who test drove it after fuel pump and I needed NOTHING in the truck. When I called him, he said he never said he was the one who test drove it!!! I want an honest mechanic, and I found one!! I won't be called a liar or be taken, with his higher than book prices, ever again!

This guy does good work but insane price gauging. I got a $1500 quote from him and I took his diagnosis and bought the necessary parts online for $200. Then I went to a different garage and they did the work for $450.

I'm very happy with my experience at Tommy's Garage. Tommy assessed the issue, told me how he would fix the problem, and then did the repair, all. at a very fair price. In the future, I'll take my cars to him when they need repair. Thanks, Tommy!

Incredibly honest and knowledgeable service for whatever car you happen to drive. Awesome, quality service at a reasonable price. I truly feel that Tommy and his team look out for our best interest and safety instead of making a quick sale. He pays as much attention to our 10-year-old Subaru as our new-ish mid-luxe SUV. Definitely a hidden gem in Madison.

They were ready for me when I arrived and they quickly told me I need a new starter. My car now starts without any issues and the guys that work here are generally awesome. Bravo!!

Tommy is fantastic and trustworthy. He always takes great care of our cars and doesn't look to upsell us. When we had an old car, he talked to us about what needed to be done vs what could be done. And he always looked for the best price plan for us- whether we wanted used or new parts. With our newer cars, he is equally helpful. He always gives the car a thorough review and if needed, gives us a time table of repairs that can wait and those that can't. It is reassuring to have a mechanic you can trust. Tommy is very friendly and epitomizes the personal touch of small businesses.

My Jag XK broke down across the street at the Walgreens. Water pump. They let me know what else was wrong with the car and took care of it. You can't trust a Jag to anyone. These guys knew what they were doing. Didn't over charge me and had me back on the road in two days. Customer service. A+. If I didn't live two hours away they would be my regular garage. If I needed major work done I'm making the trip.

Finally seem to have found an honest mechanic. Brought my car in and he told me there didn't seem to be anything really wrong with it. Just needed some oil. Besides my old mechanic who is now retired (also named Tom), I don't think any mechanic has ever said "Your car is fine" and didn't try to charge me for a bunch of stuff I don't need. So far so good and I'll definitely be going back.

Trustworthy owner

Ok, when you move you observe, you query others in the area – in search of that one, an experienced, trustworthy mechanic who not only does a good job but also charges fairly. I just moved and now I had to find a mechanic who checks my noisy car breaks after it has been sitting for a little over two months. While this is, unfortunately, a common occurrence and will often go away after the rust scrapes of the rotors, I wanted to be safe and have it checked out by a mechanic. I went to Tommy's Garage (who was recommended to me by local customers) and he actually surprised me on various levels. First, he was very welcoming, friendly, and not patronizing (unfortunately, this is still happening toward women) and immediately said he'll check it out....which he did right away. Secondly, he called, explained everything, including what he had found regarding the front rotors and said I can pick it up. So I did. We again, talked about the front rotors who could be changed out but he said that they are still safe and good to go. So, I decided to wait on what will eventually be a bigger expense. Anyway, I wanted to pay and he said "Hey, I didn't do anything." Oh my gosh, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He had to lift the car, take of the tires etc., so he could have easily and rightfully charged for that labor. I mean, where do you still find people who are so kind and not trying to make a profit of every little thing? This is not only so very nice because every saved dollar is a big help. But especially, because you truly feel like he is here to help and trying to rip you off and make you another piggy-bank. This is watching out for fellows...something this world is in desperate need! So, I truly thank God for this guidance to Tommy's Garage and he will for sure see me again, should my car need something else. Thanks Thomas and God bless!

If you want honest and prompt service for you car, go to Tommy's garage. Pulled my car into his shop a while back for a burnt out tail light. He took care of it in 5 minutes. Another shop down the street wanted me to make an appointment. Called him about my car which would not start at home. Tommy diagnosed the issue as a locked steering wheel, came out to the house, fixed the issue and started the car. Another garage would not diagnose the issue and wanted me to make an appointment for the car to be towed the next day. Very thankful to have this mechanic in the neighborhood.

I found Tommy's Garage on Google Search after running over a screw coming home from Newark Airport on Monday. While they were not the closest Auto Body Shop where I was, I trusted the Google reviews and went there. I explained why I was there and told them I had been up since 3am and just wanted to get home and go to bed. They mentioned that they were busy but the gentleman at the front desk said he would be happy to look at tires. He initially said it would take an hour since they had a busy schedule. He explained what he had to do and fixed my tire in under five minutes. Tommy's Garage defines what Customer Service is meant to be. They were kind, courteous and the facility was clean. While I live an hour from them, the customer service I received yesterday gained themselves a new customer.

My daughter was having car issues at Drew University so Tommy went out of his way to drive to Drew University to take a look at her car. Tommy was able to resolve the issue and my daughter was able to get her car back in time so she could still make it to her part time job. Thank you so much Tommy!!!
