I don’t know where to begin. Maybe with a few words. A great gem in plain view. A great mechanic, professional, seasoned pro, honest objective pricing. Consistent results. I will only take my vehicles to Allen’s Automotive. Highly, very highly recommend

Top notch garage. The owners seem to be very honest and fair and we had a lovely time talking with them while they fixed my tire. Definitely my new go to spot for all my mechanical needs

Did not have any issues for a while when going here, stopped going here a while back because they lost one of my valve stem caps and refused to replace it. Small thing I know, but I don’t trust people who would do that. That’s not what this review is about anyway, since that is a small thing I wouldn’t want to write about. I had my pads and rotors done by them a while ago, and there was shaking while braking at higher speeds. I didn’t think much of it since I’ve had an issue with my tie rods for a while and planned to get it checked out eventually. This time around I decided to change my pads and rotors myself, and it turns out the actual source of the issue is they simply did the job CARELESSLY and INCORRECTLY. On my front calipers, when replacing the pads you are meant to insert a metal piece of hardware that helps hold them in place/stabilize them. Not only did they not replace it, it was completely absent. Lo and behold, when I get under the car and do it myself, the issue is solved. The hardware was present when I brought the car in, and any simple google search of replacing the brakes on my car would show the proper way to do it. Even just googling a picture of my front calipers would show you where the hardware should be. It’s not like I have a rare braking system shops don’t often see. Don’t go here if you expect simple bread-and-butter maintenance to be done correctly. Attached I have a google image of the hardware that was missing. Simple things can really mess up your driving experience and lead to issues in the future, including issues with the steering rack. Nothing I want to deal with. I won’t be going back.

Not good service. They charged one hour extra for replacement of my high/low beam bulbs of my Mercedes GLK350 but missed passenger side high beam. Also forgot to set the Service Reminder code.

I took my vehicle, a Nissan Versa to Allens Automotive for repair. Later that day, they called and said the vehicle needed an Alternator, Drive Belt and rear wheel bearing and the cost would be $2,300. I told them about the loud noises the vehicle was making and that it was not driving properly. I authorized them to repair the vehicle . The next day they called and said the car was ready for pick up. I asked the guy I spoke with are all the noises gone and is the vehicle driving ok and he said yes. When I got there to pick it up, I spoke to Jim the owner who says to me they had to do a transmission flush. This is something they did not tell me before I authorized the repair. Jim told me the car would have a few noises but will subside as I drive it over the next few days. The car broke down 2 days later. I called them back to tell them the car broke down and they had a nasty attitude over the phone. I took the car back and the guy named Mark had a nasty attitude toward me. Later that day, they called me and said my transmission was no good. THEY KNEW THAT FROM THE START WHEN I BROUGH IT IN. THEY CHARGED ME $2300 FOR WORK THAT WOULD NOT DO ME ANY GOOD BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WAS GONE. THEY DECEIVED ME AND TOOK MY MONEY. I HAD TO PLEAD WITH THEM TO GET A PORTION OF MY MONEY BACK, ONLY $500. I'M OUT $1800 FOR A SERVICE I PAID FOR AND DID NOT GET. ALLENS AUTOMOTIVE ON 3120 RT 27 KENDALL PARK NJ 08824 ARE DECEPTIVE AND SCAM ARTISTS. ALLENS AUTOMOTIVE ARE SO HARD UP FOR MONEY THAT THEY SCAM PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY. THEY RIPPED ME OFF. THEY SCAMMED ME. THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME MY TRANSMISSION WAS NO GOOD IN THE BEGINNING AS I WOULD HAVE NEVER AUTHORIZED THE OTHER REPAIRS. ALLENS AUTOMOTIVE ARE LIARS. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS PLACE. RUN, NOT WALK. STAY CLEAR OF THEM. THE OWNER, JIM WOULD NOT EVEN SPEAK TO ME. HE WOULD NOT COME TO THE LOBBY AND TALK WITH ME. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS ESTABLISHEMENT. THEY ARE BAD!!!

In mid June Allens Automotive fixed an engine stalling issue on my 19.5 year old car. The job was done extremely well in terms of quality, accuracy in quote, timing, and complete absence of haggling or attempts of fatting the bill. I would strongly recommend that repair shop as a very professional, no nonsense, clean in every sense place.

I was today in "Allen's Automotive in Kendall Park" and i'm very satisfied with the service. They checked my brakes system very quickly. The rotors and pads were changed in an hour or so. Before replacing, they clearly explained how much the spare parts and work will cost. And now brakes work well without shaking.

Brought car in for problem with surging idle/ rpm on 3/1 & spoke with service manager Mark about this. His mechanic did was called an idle reset that I told him was done 6 times before & did not solve the problem. I brought car back on 3/2 & was met by a very angry Mark who's "best mechanic" said there was nothing wrong. I informed Mark that I have been a Design & Development Engineer for almost 50 years & he told me very angrily to leave. This man obviously has an anger problem.Dont know who Allen is of Allens Auto butwould like to speak to him. Went to this shop because the owner is listed as a member of my church but seeing now that apparently means nothing. My advise is to stay far away from this bussiness & go to a shop with real craftsman who care about customer service.

I work at an auto body shop and noticed my car wasn't driving straight. So I took it to one alignment shop and they said they couldn't do it because of a rusted tire rod. So I put it up in the air at my workplace and checked it. I was able to loosen up the camber and caster adjustment in the front and the camber in the rear but I wasn't able to do the toe adjustment in the rear. Just in case I brought it to Allen's for an alignment. Within a day they called me and said they did the alignment. Excited I went and grabbed my car and asked for my alignment sheet and saw that they didn't even touch my camber. I talked to my boss and he said the same thing. I go back the next day ask why the didn't touch my camber and the first thing the guy says is that there isn't a camber adjustment. Now that is a full on lie because I saw the adjustment myself. I told him there was one and he kept saying there wasn't and then I told him that I was able to free it up myself. They finally took my car after talking down to me and then I get a call again that they were able to do the rear camber but not the front. I picked it up and asked why they weren't able to and they said that the bolts were rusted. I took it back to my job and within 30 minutes I had my car in the air and the bolts free so they lied to me again. Along with that I noticed they burnt my tire rod boot and melted the plastic which can really damage my inner tire rods. The reason I can't do my alignment is because I don't have a machine to do it. It doesn't justify the fact that I was talked down to and lied to twice. Don't come here if you expect things to be done right. I have uploaded photos of my tire rod boots being melted and also before and after photos of my lower control arm bolts (which is what is used for aligning caster and camber) being loosened and moved. They full on lied to me and talked down to me and didn't tell me about the damage they did to my car. They also stained my steering wheel with this white stain that wasn't there before.

Very professional l, great customer service. I took my car in to replace my catalytic converter that was stolen. I did not order the proper part that needed to be replaced. Mark explained everything that i needed, and once i get the correct part, his shop will be able to install. Thanks for your professionalism and knowledge.

Wouldn't go anywhere else. Honest, fair, and reliable. All the qualities you could ask for in a repair shop. They're the best in the county by far and everyone knows it. So, if you can, make sure to call ahead and schedule an appointment because they're busy making customers happy.

I'm from Michigan and on a road trip to see our son play hockey in New Jersey. After going out to eat, our car wouldn't start. We got a jump and I headed out to find an Autozone which was close by to see if it was the battery or alternator or ???. Just as I was about to turn down a side street to get to there, I saw Allen's Automotive so I decided to turn in there. What a wise choice it was. It was closing time, and Friday to boot, but Pete and Dean said they would stay a little longer to take a look and see what's up. 15 minutes later I was out the door with a new battery heading to my kids game. Thank you so much for going above and beyond. Highly recommend this place. Support local.......Chad

I own 1958 Fiat 600 that needed various maintenance issues resolved to get it back in perfect shape. It needed new generator, radiator had to be rebuilt, blown engine head gasket had to be replaced, the horn needed fixing and rear view mirror light was out. Quite a long laundry list and because this was a vintage vehicle some things like rebuilding the radiator took lot more time than anticipated but when it was finally all done I couldn’t be more pleased with the result! My antique Fiat 600 is again in perfect condition ready to compete in the next car show! The office manager, Mark, was coordinating the timeline of the repairs and kept me informed. Jimmy, the owner, was hands on throughout the process and the final price tag for the work was quite reasonable. I highly recommend Allen’s Automotive to anyone seeking quality auto repairs and good personal customer service!

My first time at Allen's, but I have to give it to the team, they were outstanding. The customer service was more like a family as I have been a victim of poor customer service recently it means a lot to me. Brittany is an amazing communicator and her attitude towards clients amazing. Jim was a total gentleman and all the guys at the back who put the work in fixing my car. I appreciate it. I will recommend Allen's to anyone who is scared in terms of pricing and quality of work. What you get here is honesty which is brilliant. I will definitely go back now for my cars regular maintenance.

I always take my car to Allen’s Automotive, since I trust what they tell me and I’m confident in the work they do. The owner Jim is always there and happy to see me. Joe at the front desk always keeps me posted with any updates on my car and what might have to be done. You simply can’t beat the level of service and value that they provide.

I've been having an issue for a year that the dealership couldn't figure out, so I finally took my car to Allen's. Not only did they fix the problem in a few hours, they were EXCEPTIONALLY kind and professional. Joe at the front desk is such a sweet person, I can't get over how well he treated me. I'm exclusively using Allen's from now on, I am extremely impressed.

Our automotive business with Allen and his crew goes back many years and you could not find a more talented, skilled auto service shop. They are totally expertly responsible for the repairs and service to all the cars in our family. It's a sincere pleasure doing business with them. I highly recommend Allen's Automotive to everyone. Staff is friendly and nice and overall great people. The service of the repair of my car was i thought good until i had to take it somewhere else for the same problem that i thought Allen's automotive was fixing. Brought it to their attention and they chose to not do anything about it, ended up paying twice for the same problem and more for the damage that the original problem caused. Sometimes the best price doesn't always mean the best work!

These guys are great. Honesty and trust are valued traits, especially in auto repair. I've had all my wife's and my maintenance and repair work done here for years. They are good with luxury cars too - they've been great with both our Audi and Acura.

I bought a 2006 Nissan Maxima from Jim. When looking into the car, Jim assured me that the car would last for years, and that he wished one of his own kids needed a car so he could give it to them. He seemed like an honest guy and the car looked good. Right off the bat the car broke down from leaving his shop but Jim offered to fix the issue for free. At first it seemed like a nice gesture, until I ended up in his waiting room every single week because the check engine light came on. I kept going to Jim because he was offering to make it right and I thought I could trust him. One day I brought the car in and Jim told me I would have to pay for the service. I was annoyed that he wanted to charge me, despite never having the car out of his shop for more than a week at a time. I decided to go to a different mechanics to get a second opinion on the car. They told me that the motor was melting, parts were being held in by clamps, and that all repairs Jim made were cheap fixes that would not be sustainable. I went back to Jim to let him know what I found out and he did not deny anything. Instead, his apology was that he would sell me a different car at a discounted price. Jim once told me he would drive that car personally to Florida and back, and yet I had to get rid of it in less than 6 months after purchasing it. I am out $5,000 now because of Jim, whether this be his inability to admit when he messed up or that he just didn't know the car had all these issues. Regardless, both are concerning, so save your money and by a car elsewhere.

The customer service at Allen's is top notch! I'm from out of state and had a part stolen off my car while staying at a friend's apartment, leaving me stranded. The staff went above and beyond to help get me a replacement part asap so I could get home. The price was fair and repair time was quick. We had some issues with the insurance company, but the staff was understanding and patient through the whole process. I wish I had an automotive place this great in my hometown.

Short version: * Got a tire rotation at Allen's. They only rotated 2 tires and tried to get away with it. I noticed. * Allen's quoted me at $60 to replace 2 cross threaded lug studs, which was preventing the mechanic from rotating all my tires. * Mavis (another shop) fixed the issue for $16, and they only found 1 cross threaded lug stud. Longer vision: I'll only state the facts. I go in for a tire rotation, and I get my car back. I'm about to leave with my car but I notice that one of my tires is still in the same spot. I can tell because that's the only wheel that's scuffed up. I confront the mechanic, and he tells me that the front left wheel has 2 cross-threaded lug studs, so they couldn't remove the wheel. They quote me at $60 for the work to fix the studs. I leave having paid for the full tire rotation. They did not offer a discount for a half-done job, or for being dishonest. I decide to go to my usual shop for the fix (Mavis in Green Brook), instead of Allen's. They say that only 1 of the studs is cross threaded. They fix it for $16 and rotate the left side tires for free. My car has 35,500 miles on it, and it has only been serviced by Mavis with no issues. I take it to Allen's once, and all that b.s. happened. Interpret this however you like, but I won't be going to Allen's ever again. On a positive note, the girl behind the counter at Allen's is very nice. Note: I hardly ever review on Google because it puts my name out there. I noticed that Google is where most of their reviews are. I felt the need to contribute here because it seems like more people will see it.

Just wanted to say I had a fantastic experience with Allen's Automobile at the corner of Henderson and 27. I bought in an after market add-on and they worked hours to make it right. They went above and beyond what I expected and did a great job on the car. If you are looking for a real partner in auto repair these are the guys.

I've lived in the area for 11 years and have been using Allens almost exclusively all that time. I've always found them to be extremely competent, courteous, clean and thorough. Two days ago I had a battery replaced on my wife's car and just now they called to tell me they found a $10 rebate coupon applicable to the new battery they put in, and are filing it for me now. Between service like that and never once having had to bring my car back to have the same thing fixed twice, this is an outstanding shop.

Not a good experience at all. I was sold a money pit car. I purchased a vehicle from Allens Automotive for $2500. It was a 1998 Honda Accord. I have not had the vehicle long before there was an oil leak. I replaced the brakes (front and rear) , the rotors and a tune up for general maintenance. I took the vehicle in for the oil leak to be fixed and when I got the vehicle back it still had a leak and other issues. Now the check engine light comes on. Everytime I take the vehicle back something else is wrong with the vehicle. They have charged me for every little thing to fix it when it was not done the right way the first time. Allens Auto is not a good place to purchase any vehicle or have any work done. It is not good business to sell a car and say its in good condition and the car is back in the shop after a few days. I just feel if I bring a car in for service and the problem is not fixed, I should not have to to keep paying for the same issue. I should not have to pay if the mechanics try to fix one thing but cause another. Not good business at all. A car that was bought for $2500 has now cost me an additional $4000. I feel They use the age the vehicle to charge for not fixing it right the first time.
