GT Japanese Automotive are the best automotive mechanics. The staff is professional, pleasant, and extremely knowledgeable. The owners, Julie and Kun, seek to meet their customers' expectations. GT Japanese Automotive has repaired our Honda/Acura vehicles for almost 30 years. Although GT Automotive specializes in Japanese automobiles, they will perform most mechanical repairs for most vehicles. Their prices are very competitive. Kun is the Nsx whisperer. I have been bringing my Nsx here from a solid hour away because of the leveling experience and the quality of the the work. The team here knows the Nsx better than anyone else in the tri state and it shows in the work. Rates are more than fair and they always go above and beyond to ensure the work is done completely and with great communication along the way. Couldn’t recommend them more strongly.
To start, I took my vehicle to a Toyota Service Center for their "recommended" service and ended up not noticing a difference with the smoothness of my daily commutes feeling like I had left with the same issues as I came in with.
This led me to conduct some research on private shops in the Central Jersey area. I always drive by GT Japanese Automotive, Inc. and read the consistent good quality reviews along with having a good friend recommend them.
I scheduled an appointment to take my 2022 RAV4 XLE in the third Saturday of this past May to get a diagnostic done to find out what the Toyota Service Center was missing. It ended up being something as simple as needing to replace the stock tires due to the tread being worn, thus leading to the vibrations I was feeling while driving at certain speeds. All-in-all, the $70 Diagnostic Fee was worth the peace of mind.
Scheduling the appointment was seamless along with the day of check-in with the service advisor, Josif. He is a very approachable and friendly gentleman to interact with. There was no arm-twisting or pressure, just a conversation on the results and what the next step would be whenever I was ready to.
I had scheduled my 45,000-mile maintenance along with the tire replacement for today. As Joe promised, I heard the difference, and the drive home was smooth and quiet (for what it's worth considering the natural road noise you're bound to experience in this state).
I don't know what the Toyota Service Center has their Techs doing, but I wouldn't go back to any of them ever again. The fact that they could not diagnose something as simple as having tires with low tread baffles me.
GT Japanese Automotive, Inc. has my business, and I hope to have my RAV4 on their wall-of-fame of vehicles they have on the road with up to 400,000+ miles.
Please avoid this location especially if you have nice or rare cars. How they have so many Expensive JDM cars is beyond me. Went in there for an alignment and was giving the worst spec sheet I have ever seen. I was told by the tech that “ it was All they were able to adjust because the bolts were seized” I inspected all my suspension and have video of the bolts and arms being Movable. I then went to a different location and they were able to get my Evo into spec. This place either doesn’t car or is just unknowing and lazy. Now I’m out 140 bucks. Please take your nice cars somewhere they actually care

Just knock toe out and not touch anything else because .5 of camber of a difference on each side is an appropriate camber especially with adjustable front camber plates

Save your money for a reputable auto service. Terrible service at this place, they messed up my gas cap and I was not able to get gas until I went somewhere else and they fixed it.
I can’t thank JT Auto in Edison enough! I brought in my 2013 Subaru Impreza after a dealership told me I needed a new camshaft — a very expensive repair. But the team at JT Auto took a closer look and correctly diagnosed the problem as a faulty solenoid, not the camshaft at all. They saved me a ton of money and had my car running smoothly again in no time. Honest, knowledgeable, and friendly — exactly what you want in a local mechanic.
Love this place, took my car to here for diagnostics after trying two other shops that couldn't figure it out what was wrong it. I had been playing parts cannon game without success. Most auto repair shops can replace the parts, but they lack diagnostic skills.
I’m glad they were able to diagnose the issue. Kun pointed it out for me and showed me what was wrong, along with some other minor problems that I had missed. His explanations and suggestions were solid and detailed.
Another great thing is that they accept customer provided parts, which is a big advantage for car owners who want to do jobs like installing aftermarket performance brake pads and rotors.
Started bringing both of my Mazdas here last year after finally having enough of my local incompetent Mazda dealer. Great service and prices, would highly recommend.

One thing to note is that they expect the cars to be dropped off early in the morning (8 AM) for them to start taking a look at the car. So even though one's appointment just says a date, they expect the car to be dropped off at 8 AM. This is not a huge issue, but we weren't informed about it while reserving our first appointment. During our second appointment, we dropped off the car early and everything went smoothly.
Also, they are open on 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, NOT ALL Saturdays. Good to know beforehand.
Best Japanese auto mechanics, or just mechanics period. I travel out my way to get my car serviced here and if I lived outta state I'd still go here. Every mechanic they have are all talented and highly skilled. Gt automotive #1
I don't usually write reviews unless someone is truly exceptional. I never had confidence to ride a used car not because I don’t trust used cars, but because I don’t trust machine shops when my car needs repair. Trust, honesty and exceptional service, this is how I define GT Japanese Automotive.

I am a resident of highland park and gt automotive has been very helpful I have a infiniti g35 and it’s my first car. They’ve always taken the task of working with my car and finding out the issues my car may have. They were very communicative and Ive recommend people to come here.
GT Japanese Automotive initially seemed knowledgeable and capable of handling the issues with my 1993 300ZX. I brought my car to them with concerns about smoke from the tailpipe and dash lights, and they spent months working on it. After nearly $2000 in repairs, the smoke and misfires persisted. Despite their assurances that these issues were "normal," a specialist at another shop and my local mechanic later revealed the real problem: completely shot piston rings, easily identified with a simple compression and leak down test.
Additionally, my oil dipstick broke after they repaired my oil pan. Their failure to properly diagnose and fix my car's issues was disappointing, especially since they had previously worked on other cars of mine. While they have knowledgeable staff and a commitment to OEM parts, my experience left much to be desired. I hope they can improve their diagnostic accuracy and attention to detail in the future.
Kun and his team is the best. helped me with the alignment spec and tune it to the best settings that my car can handle. 100% satisfaction.
back after a year, Koon is the best you can ask for for street and track car tuning. He fixed my supra once again quickly and car runs excellent on both street and track now.

They specialize in Japanese cars, but they've been able to accommodate my German cars without issue. I've brought my M6 and Panamera here and they never fail to provide amazing service.
I have had two big repairs done with them recently, my car suv is 10 years old. Both times they quoted me a reasonable price and never did a bait and switch on me. They completed the jobs when they said they would. My father always told me if you find a good mechanic stck with them. And I sure will.

Always did great work, knowledgeable with any Asian brand vehicles. They worked on my Mitsubishi eclipse many times and provided great service working with my odd scheduling and arguably odd vehicle. I've had many shops do work on my car and none have gotten mine back and running fast and reliablely as they have. Their so good I wish I could pack the shop up and have it move out of state with me.

I will never go back to a Nissan dealership after their screw up and how they treated the situation. I am so happy I found GT!! They were very nice on the phone when I called them. The service was fast and very convenient. Everyone was very nice when I went to pick up my Nissan and on top of that, the mechanic actually came out to show me the broken part and explain what was done. The service fee was also very reasonable. It was a very pleasant experience and I will absolutely be a repeat customer. Highly recommended!! These guys are awesome! The team that works here are the best of the best, this isn't a commercial auto repair shop where they run through cars for money. They will take your car -> perform their due diligence in completing the job. They will go above and beyond, they are honest people and are extremely good at what they do. There is a reason why you see such rare cars there, it's because car owners trust them and I do too. Thank you to the team there for doing amazing work and taking care of us!
The team at GT (front desk and mechanics) do their best to seek excellent customer service. They have fit me into their schedules for last minute emergencies and have given me fair and honest repair feedback and costs. I go to them for routine upkeep on my ride, feeling comfortable knowing my ride is in good hands. Friendly, quality, and fair priced. They listen to instructions and turn around is within good timeframe. I've never had an issue with them.
I have a 1993 Nissan Hardbody and I wouldn't trust it to anyone other than GT Japanese Automotive. I am a repeat customer and drive an hour South to bring my truck there when it needs something. Excellent work, great communication, they're professional and friendly. I can't say enough good things about my experiences at GT Japanese Automotive and highly recommend them.
Had such a pleasure dealing with Kun and his team. They went above and beyond getting my oil change and installing my Tomei Expreme full titanium exhaust as well as carbon canards on my Nissan R35 GTR. They absolutely made sure I was notified every step of the way and were extremely careful with everything, always double checking. Super knowledgeable and they definitely know their stuff.
