If you’re looking for a reliable, fairly-priced, experienced mechanic to work on your cars, look no further than Hudson Gas & Auto. This one-stop shop will take care of your car, no matter the needs, in a timely fashion. In addition to routine oil changes, tire rotations, and a flat tire, they’ve replaced my turbocharger, oxygen sensors, purge valve, and catalytic converter, as needed. Prices are always fair and significantly lower than dealer estimates, with the same level and quality of work. Friendly and approachable management and staff. High quality service and fuel. Proud to call them my mechanic.

I’ve been coming to Hudson Gas & Auto for years for routine stuff—oil changes, brakes, inspections, the usual. I trusted this place enough that I never felt the need to ask for pricing upfront. That trust is officially gone. Saturday Jan 10, I came in to replace ignition coils, spark plugs, and an air filter on my 2011 Audi A4. Important details: I supplied all the parts myself—OEM Audi coils and plugs, plus a Mann filter. I arrived around 8:50 AM, waited while the shop was busy, and my car was pulled in at about 10:00 AM. I stepped out for a quick coffee run (Dunkin is literally a 5-minute walk on Bergenline). When I came back, the plugs and coils were already installed and the air filter was being swapped. The job was finished before 10:30 AM. So tell me why I’m told the price is $219, supposedly for a “2-hour job”, 90/hour labor + parts + tax? That makes zero sense, and only parts used were wrenches! I had been sitting there the entire time. The owner’s son saw exactly when the car went in and when it came out. Even including my wait time, it wasn’t even two hours. When I questioned it, the owners son told me, “I go by what the mechanic says, and he said 2 hours.” I insisted in paying and after he called someone (I assume his father), the price suddenly dropped to $165 (which is still a lot), allegedly “including parts and tax.” What parts? I brought everything. To make this even more frustrating, when my car was pulled out, I still tipped the mechanic $20, despite everything. And this is how a long-time customer is treated. That tells me this was an attempt to overcharge, plain and simple. Once I pushed back, the price changed—huge red flag. Lesson learned: Always get a quote before any work starts. Loyalty means nothing here. Don’t assume you’ll get a fair price just because you’ve been coming for years. Replacing coils, spark plugs, and an air filter does not take two hours. Do the math yourself. I won’t be coming back.

I was on a family trip, we were heading home from New York City to Virginia. My car had several lights on, I know nothing about cars and just happened to make it here. It was a saturday late in the afternoon, and yet they were able to get me a new radiator (they showed be the broken cracked one), and when they found another part was broken, he had a friend drive to another part store that was still open to get it for us. He showed me the broken part again, and they worked on my car right there in the parking lot. We were able to have everything done and replaced in a few hours. When they gave me the bill, I called my mechanic to make sure everything was fair, and they were beyond fair for the work, parts and prices. They saved me what could have been another cost if they had waited for parts until monday, but I am so thankful I just happened to pull into their parking lot.

These people just robbed me infront my face. It was raining on the highway and my truck wiper stop working. Yes WIPER!. I explained to her that it probably slipped off the linkage, she tried to order parts but then the mechanic figured I was right. He literally took off the front panel of the truck and used a wrench to hook it back on in 20 minutes. On their chart inside it says $90 per hour labor fee. Im here thinking oh maybe I can even negotiate this $90 this lady said that I owe her $200. Two hundred dollars for hooking back a TRUCK WIPER on to the linkage. We end up having a small argument got it down to $170 as you can see in the receipt. Something that shouldn’t have been more than a 50 buck job. At that they did that to a ARMY VETERAN. I don’t wish bad for your business Jola or whatever your name is because I also operate my own business. But I hope you are ashamed of yourself.

1 Star - Horrible Service, Do Not Go Here! (take the time to read in entirety it will be worth your while) I took my car to this auto shop to fix my muffler, and instead of properly fixing the issue, they just put on a clamp that only temporarily reduced the noise. Fast forward three months, and the noise came back. When I went back under the 3-month warranty, I was told I should’ve come in “sooner,” either the next day or within a week. I explained that the noise had gradually come back, and as I live in Manhattan, it’s not as easy as just popping by whenever they want. They told me I would need to pay over $550 to fix the muffler *and* another piece they suddenly added. I spoke to receptionist who then transferred me to a man, and when I asked for a partial refund for the parts, he got *incredibly* rude and called me a thief! The total was $90 for labor and parts, I asked for $45 refund for the parts, which I thought was a reasonable request since the parts should have been covered under the 3-month-warranty and again did not fix the problem. His attitude was completely unprofessional, and he clearly has no respect for customers. Oh, and to top it all off, he actually told me to write a review because, in his words, he would just respond by saying I waited "too long." How’s that for customer service? Their scheduling is a joke. I made multiple appointments, and they either forgot i was coming or I ended up waiting 1-2 hours every time I showed up. One day, I waited 2 hours because they "forgot" I was coming and did not order the part, and another day I was told not to come at all because they had "too many cars." Again, I live in Manhattan, so this is a huge inconvenience. It is $22.06 every time to get across the tunnel. This place is a total waste of time, money, and energy. Unprofessional staff, terrible customer service, and no real fixes to the issues. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else! ------------ Response to owner: I can’t respond directly to the owner’s reply, and I feel it’s important to make my experience known. Frankly, this place deserves zero stars. Instead of addressing my concerns, the owner has chosen to deflect and misrepresent the situation. For clarity: I never demanded a warranty—I simply referred to the three-month warranty for parts and service explicitly stated on my receipt. If your shop doesn't honor that policy for certain repairs, it should have been communicated upfront. Similarly, the temporary state of the clamp should have been disclosed. It wasn’t. The reality is, the service I received felt rushed and subpar—likely due to an overbooked schedule. A partial refund would have been a reasonable way to resolve the issue and maintain customer satisfaction. Why wasn’t the issue fixed the first time? I’m not going to give more money to a shop that clearly doesn’t prioritize quality service. You claim I’m “twisting the situation,” but I followed the reasonable steps any customer would: I returned within the warranty period and raised my concern. Instead of a constructive response, I was met with a phone call where I was yelled at for simply asking for a refund—something I think should be standard when a service doesn’t resolve the issue. This is not how a business should treat its customers. As for the “free inspection” you mentioned—let’s be clear, I was not offered any such thing. I simply requested a refund for the parts, which I believe was the minimum fair response given the situation. This review isn’t about me rejecting a repair, nor should it be used to attack my decision to refuse service. It’s about a shop failing to communicate policies clearly, refusing to honor the warranties it advertises, and resorting to name-calling instead of offering professional customer service. If this is how you handle valid customer concerns, it speaks volumes. I strongly encourage potential customers to take their business elsewhere.

I've been to many mechanic shops over the years but this one stands out as the Best by far. Their prices are very competitivo, and the Quality of their work is second to none. The mechanics here are expertos at handling Even the most challenging issues. They quickly diagnosed a problem with My car that has stumped other shops, and their solution was both efective and affordable. If You are looking for top-notch service from true car expertos at a great price, this is the place to go.

Services on getting Gas is the worse. I am not at fault if you feel overwhelmed on your job. If you need help asked your management. Don’t come with attitude after seen more than two cars getting done with gas. And come with the nasty attitude to speak with me after pumping two car they were not done but you could give me service. I asked to speak with manager he stood shut. I don’t care if it was your own gas but you was rude and your service was the worse.

Great fast service and very friendly staff; highly recommend this place for simple oil change, ordering new tires or major car repairs.

It’s difficult finding a good mechanic because nowadays they look at you as a dollar sign. You go for one problem, they give you 10 problems. I have been a customer here for the last 3 years and I highly recommend this place, they will take care of you efficiently and effectively. Staff is down to earth with exceptional customer service.

I go to the convenience store, from time to time, usually to buy a coffee and a sweet treat. The coffee is very good, and the pastries in the same area as the coffee stations are fresh and tasty. The staff is very professional and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I have never had the need to use the bathroom there, so I cannot include that information in my review.

Took my car there for a AC repair ended up replacing more part without my knowledge and had to wait for a week for my car for tools they don’t have. Two months later AC stop working and the spare plugs that they wanted to replace ended up failing. Never going there again.

Very easy, and efficient. Came in twice to get work done and they were always accommodating, trustworthy and efficient. Did brakes here including rotors, pads, and calipers. Don’t know about their parts pricing because I brought my own parts. But they straight up with the labor time and commit to it. Very nice people, honest business.

This place is dope. Small but has everything you'd need when everything else around is closed. Open 24/7 plus they have lotto. Staff who's there late night is usually alone but always friendly and willing to help you out if needed.

I live next door and went to get my oil changed. It was taking longer than they expected (someone was scheduled for a repair right before me) and Carla (I think I have her name correct) called me to let me know they hadn't forgotten about me and my CR-V. Service got taken care of though (and very affordable compared to the Honda dealership down JFK) and I'm so happy to have a local repair shop like this a few blocks away. It was only a few dollars more than Jiffy Lube and I wasn't bombarded by filter and messy oil up charges, just a simple "This is what you pay." A true relief in the world of shoddy repair shops.

I had a very bad experience today. I asked if they can check the tire pressure for one tire after I filled up the tank. They come with excuses and asked me to buy a gadget. I will never shop from this location again.

I have been going to Hudson Gas and Auto for a couple years now for a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer. I have had a range of jobs from brakes to tune ups to new tires to electrical problems (sunroof not working for example). I have always had a good experience -- solid service, informative staff (Alexandra is fantastic, in particular), fair prices— and done within the day. I have recommended this business to others who have also had great experiences so I continue to do it. I have seen newer, more exotic cars there but mostly I see daily drive kind of cars being serviced. Keep up the good work! Top grades in my book.

I was recommended to this mechanic shop by a family member of my sister. I dropped it off around 3 pm and as their closing time got closer, I started to call the shop several times. There was never an answer. Closing at 7 pm came and went and no one called. I had to ask the family member to call his mechanic friend to see why I never got a phone call about my car. I was told that he was too busy and will be looking at it the next day. I found the fact that there wasn't a courtesy call to request the car to stay at the shop, very unprofessional. If he didn't have time he could have told me and I would have come back another day. Honesty goes a long way. Then the next day, I got a call around noon from who may have been the owner, not even the mechanic himself, to state that I needed to replace all 4 coils and sparks. Now, I have changed a coil and the sparks 2 months ago and the fact that they were lying to me to replace all of them got on my nerve. Again with the dishonesty. When I told him that I replaced a coil not too long ago, he asked me which one, to which I responded, "isn't that something YOU should be telling me?" I told him I will be picking up the car and not fixing it there, to which he replied that he thought that was best. Yes, because you don't know what the hell you are doing there, expect for maybe taking advantage of a woman. I will never recommend this place to anyone. They are extremely unprofessional and extremely dishonest. You want a place to go to not too far from there? Got to a place in little ferry called Stallion Auto Services and ask for Fadi. They will treat you like royalty and with utmost respect. Doesn't overcharge you either and is extremely honest. But this place is garbage.

Not a trust worthy business at all, they took on my car a job they said they can perform, but after calling a number of times and no return call at all, I was fed only lies to buy more time, later found out they could not do the job and had sent my car to another shop without telling me. Original estimate had doubled and when I questioned why the owner point blank told me more lies about needing more parts for the repair. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place, BAD NEWS.

My experience was great. I was greeted by the owner within a minute of my arrival. Mechanic was friendly, professional, and answered all my questions, saving me a trip to the dealership for a part I really didn't need. Fair prices. Thanks. I'll be back.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! PLEASE IF YOU VALUE YOUR VEHICLE STAY AWAY FROM THIS REPAIR SHOP. LIE AFTER LIE AFTER LIE! THEY PROMISE, DONT DELIVER AND AFTER PAYING DONT ACCEPT RESPONSABILITY. THE OWNER IS A LIAR, AT THE END I SPENT A LOT OF MONEY, MY VEHICLE WAS NOT FIXED AND ENDED UP GOING TO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP TO FIX MY PROBLEM. BOTTOM LINE, I WASTED MY TIME AND MONEY. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

I live in NYC but this NJ shop was recommended to me because the owner is a friend of someone I know. My car needed quite a lot of work - cracked windshield, catalytic convertor not working, broken engine mounts and more. I needed it all done in order to pass inspection in NY. The work was done impeccably and in record time. They checked it over and even scanned it in advance to be sure I'd pass inspection and I did. Auto repair shops are notorious for their dishonesty, especially when dealing with women. At Hudson, the quality of the work, the professionalism of the staff and the integrity of the owner were all very apparent. They didn't try to pad my bill with bogus repairs and in fact, saved me money by NOT claiming a repair I'd been told by a different shop was desperately needed but that this shop proved was not necessary. My 2003 Honda is running like new - even with nearly 170,000 miles of NY wear and tear on it. I highly recommend Hudson Gas & Auto Services!!! AAA+++

I have gone to this place more than 2 times and each time I get good service. Soliman is an honest man, he won't rip you off, the prices are reasonable and the work is done well. I brought my brand new car to him to assess after my car stalled in the morning. My dealer was going to charge me over 100 dollars to just assess. Soliman did it for free. I recommend this place very strongly. It's rare to find such an honest, kind, and ethical mechanic.
