The workers were very very helpful and nice. Never scrapped anything before and it was an easy process. All their rates are listed online, unlike other places. Would recommend to everyone.
Matteo's Scapyard is a great place to take all your scrap. The Professionalism is noticed right away. Never a waiting line, in and out, all day, everyday. The prices are good, considering what's going on these days , with the economysituation. Every time I go there, no matter what day of the week it is, or what time it is, the workers make it a priority to get customers in and out. Over all....it's the best dam scrapyard I ever went to, and will continue to when it's needed.
I love this place i like buying all the brass knick knacks people bring in I personally think its the best scrapyard around. Not only are all the people so nice they also pay more than emr.
Not a fan of the place. Gave no paperwork, didn't ask for ID. Not sure their scale was accurate for weighing batteries. Seemed low for the amount I had.
Last time I do business with this company. It is plain and simple. I don't like getting ripped off. Talk about classy. How about running a classy business? Don't rip people off.
Been an electrician for 40 years and I was told that the wire I bought was copper pipe grade not number one wire because it wasn’t shiny. Don’t be down graded with wire unless you power wash it before you go! Just letting everyone know.

just grab a roller cart from inside the scale building...

#1) I can off load my vehicle upfront on asphalt.. unlike some other places that make you drive thru mud, & puddles & who knows what to leave with a muddy vehicle...
#2) no nonsense upfront ( check webste) pricing & the pay office has my $$ in crisp new bills at rest in the window cash pass through before I even walk in the office door. ( when the wait room is empty otherwise of course !)
This is my favorite place to take my scrap metal. I come all the way from PA to do so because they pay exceptionally better for aluminum, and are more quick and organized when it comes to unloading both ferrous and non ferrous metals. The staff are helpful and friendly as well which is rare at most scrap metal & recycling businesses due to their approach on maximizing profits by not informing customers about accidentally unloading precious metals in with the steel or how to separate mixed metal components.
I am a commercial electrician from down South. I was working on a project in Logan Township from August 2021 until July 2022. I always scrap while on a job. I usually go online to find local dealers, and try a few before choosing a favorite. I found Matteo and used them for the first time, and never looked for another dealer.
Other local trades told me there were dealers that paid more, or were quicker, friendlier, or closer to my location, but I never went to anyone else.
My normal routine was to make loads on Saturday, and there were Saturdays I made two loads. I made a load almost every Saturday I was in Jersey.
I always found they were friendly, helpful, and never had bad service. Even if I had multiple types of scrap to sell, I was rarely there more than 30 to 45 minutes even if they were busy. I looked forward to my Saturday visits.
Don;t know if I will make it back to the area for another project, but if I do, that is where I will take my business.

Just went to Mateo's today with some wire. I had Cat5 network cable and a box of thnn wire. The Mexican guy who weighed the wire put it all together , weighed it and told me to go to office. Here he had given a total weight of the wire when it was 2 separate types of wire at different price per pound. DON"T RELIE OBN the people weighing giving you the right price. MY fault for not questioning the final price per pound. Next time, I'll go to another HONEST scrap yard.
My boyfriend and I had been there once before and had a great experience. When we went back this time we arrived at 3:30. Explained that we had a mix of light steel heavy steel copper and aluminum. We were directed down back and told to dump all the steel there. We came back over the scale at 3:59. They close at 4. We said we just have the aluminum which would of taken under 5 mins but we were told no we’ll have to come back they’re closed and when we looked at our receipt all that we got paid for was light steel. I apologized to the man for him having to still be in the building at 4pm which is when they closed and he was extremely rude! Definitely got ripped off today! Extremely disappointed and will Not return
I was there Saturday and got paid #1 prepared .....Today.. Monday.... No drop in steel prices I got paid for it unprepared for same EXACT recyclable product.... $3 per hundred pounds difference. Their scale does NOT have an outside display so you can see your weights in and out like SIMS IN DEPTFORD DOES so you can see your in and out weights. From now on I will ONLY go to SIMS IN DEPTFORD..... THANK YOU MIKE AND YOUR CREW AT SIMS.... YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!
Had never gone to a scrap yard before and decided to teach my kids how to make some side money. We brought some pipes, a grill that was stainless steal and other things. Was very confusing in there with no direction. You have to watch people so you know what to do. Ending up walking out with $12.
I am sure for people doing it all the time who know good value items it is worth it.
Either way, it is recycling... Which helps us all!
People, know your product before you get there and they will treat you with respect! Don’t act like a douche and act like you know everything!....Great customer service and competitive prices on EVERYTHING, especially copper wires.
Great group of guys working there...always clean and fair. I've taken copper and circuit boards there many times and always feel that i was treated correctly.
Honestly its the worst scrap yard in South Jersey. The guys who were working were very mean and didn't help or give any instructions on what to do. Also they underpaid me a lot. I did the math and I should of received $25 more than they actually gave me. I spent more money on gas getting there then what they paid me. I came there with 600 lbs (Weighed on Scale) of metal, iron, steel, aluminum, brass, and copper. I only got $43 when I should of gotten close to $80. Sims in Deptford is where I went the previous time and I received $22 with a single air conditioner and 3 pieces of metal. DON'T GO TO MATTEO'S!!!!
My Girlfriend called ahead of time to find out if they paid for Catalytic converters, they said yes, and would pay 100 dollars for an original. I spent 20 dollars in gas to take the catalytic converter over there, and when I got there, and Illegal told me 50 dollars. Then I went to the office, the over weight white guy told me, he never quoted 100 dollars, then called over at where the illegal was, then acted to speak to him over the phone and over hearing what he said, was the Illegal said 15 dollars. I soon left with the feeling of being had, or taken and not a good feeling at all. I would never ever tell my friends or family to ever go there, and people would be fair warned about the operation these people are doing there. Very Criminal and unconstitutional. They should be put out of business.
