he's my go-to guy now after trying a few mechanics in the area. he gets the job done quicky and provides photos and videos to give you more info about what's up with your car. he has very transparent pricing and is very personable,. dude runs at a million miles an hour at all times yet always takes the time to be incredibly thorough with the car and the customer

This mechanic is dishonest and swapped parts from my car with parts from another car he was working on. He kept my car for days just to do this. As a family man, this is truly disappointing and unacceptable. Please be cautious and avoid bringing your car here.

Please listen. When it comes to this shop, this man is one of a Kind. A rare, affordable, fair mechanic. He will listen to you, he will help you, and HE WILL NOT RIP YOU OFF. "Zee Auto", a nearby mechanic tried to charge me $2400 for spark plugs and injectors and Viejo charged me $420. That's super cheap compared to so many other shops, ALL OTHER SHOPS charged over $1000. 1300 was minimum. My car has returned in 2 days maximum. He has every tool you can imagine, and he always will remember your face. Please give this man a chance, no other mechanic compares to him, I promise

I had a situation with my 2012 toyota venza October of 2023. The issue with the car was the lack of power when pushing on the accelerator and when the car went over 50mph it would feel as though it was going to stop. I brought it to mieneke in Englewood and discuss the issue to them. They checked the vehicle out and told me I needed new spark plugs, ignition coils, and oxygen sensor. I agreed to the repair and waited a week for the car to be fixed. I paid 1600 dollars and drove the car out the shop. It only took 10min leaving the shop and the same issue occurred again. I immediately went back to the shop and asked what's going on. They gave a b.s. excuse saying that the computer Diagnosed the issue and there not sure why the car is still not functioning correctly. I ended up doing a claims with my bank to refund me what I've paid. I went to 2 more auto shops before finally coming to Viejo auto repair in Wallington. Richard was amazing he explained to me the parts that was put in was a cheap off brand. He also showed me other issues with the car that the other mechanics didn't even bring up or realized!!! They were respectful and pricing was amazing. I went to 3 mechanics and they couldn't figure out or fix the issue with my vehicle. Viejo auto repair found, explained and fixed the problem. Also, found other issues with the car that would've caused me more issues overtime. Before coming to Richard I had the car on the sidelines for close to a year going to different mechanics. Any issue or tune up I need for my vehicle I will becoming to Viejo auto repair ONLY!! P.s. DO NOT GO TO MEINEKE IN ENGLEWOOD. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!

I was recommended to go to this business from another mechanic. He definitely seemed honest, however I quickly learned that he was not. I brought my car here with AC issues. He ran a diagnostic which I thought he charged a hefty price for then he gave me misinformation. How did I find out? Well, thankfully to God my car was taken to some one else by a family member and they discovered that everything the mechanic in this place said the car did NOT have or needed is exactly what the car needed. The moment the other place fixed what the mechanic said my car did NOT have was exactly what it needed to get my AC working. He mentioned that there was something wrong with the wiring in my car and with the electric but when the other people checked for me they immediately knew it was all about the money. The car had no issues with the electrical wires. I also learned that reparing electric issues will also cost alot more. I am not a car person at all and unfortunately it seems like some mechanics take advantage especially when it is a female who brings their car in. That was the case for me. Long story short people do some research on your own as well, look around. Hope this helps!

This was my 2nd visit to Viejo Auto Repair for an oil change. I had gotten into a minor accident the day before and my front bumper gotten some damage. Richard took one look at it and told me can try to fix it to the best of his ability. Even though he is not a body repair shop the fact he offered to help, when I only came for an oil change, was amazing. He completed my oil change and worked on the bumper, which took about an hour! I was completely shocked on how well he fixed my bumper without trying to replace the entire thing! (Before and after pic attached) He even took the time to check the radiator and told me why my bumper can't be properly fixed. He was nice enough to not even charge me for fixing the bumper, just the oil change! Richard was also honest about my breaks and warned me to come back for them ASAP. Great place to have your car looked at and worked on. Extremely happy.

I recommend Viejo Auto Repair in Wallington, NJ. Richard (owner) fixed our car recently which was having issues and for some reason another mechanic was not able to fix it. Richard was quite honest, explained things thoroughly, recorded videos explaining issues, and showed us what the problems were. Cost of fixing the car was over 1k, I guess or supposed that's what mechanics charge which is definitely an expensive fix. IF you want to have an honest mechanic in North NJ work on your car - Richard Viejo Auto Repair is a great option. Richard also fixed the car in a matter of days which helps especially when you need your car to go to work. Great guy! Great Mechanic! Hopefully others can go by this recommendation (9/2023).

I had been having issues with the battery and alternator on my Nissan Maxima and was lucky enough to find Viejo Auto. After having the same issue addressed at several shops for several years, Richard was able to diagnose the issue and address it once and for all. I will no longer have to spend thousands of dollars trying to fix the same problem year after year. I trust this shop and find their prices to be affordable. I drive a Hundi Tucson. The dealership wanted to charge me $6,000.00 for replacement of the rear differential. They said it was leaking oil. They made it sound like it was undrivable. I brought it to Richard and it was not leaking it was a little wet by the seal. He put heavy duty oil in and the problem was fixed. Do not take your car to the dealer ship they are a rip off and just want you money. Richard has been my mechanic for years now and I never had a problem with him. He explains the problem and fixes it properly. I never had to take my car back to him for the same problem. I highly recommend him as your mechanic.

Richard really helped me out. He explained what was wrong with my car and promptly fixed it on a late Saturday afternoon. He is very passionate and educated about cars. I’m very grateful that he stayed a little late to help do the necessary diagnostic, replace a coil and check the compressor in my car. He knew what was wrong with my car right away and I just am thankful for his help and wisdom.

Richard he is the best mechanic in nj very honest. Take his time explaining you everything. His place is one of the cleanest repair shops I ever seen. Very organized. If he starts working on your car he won’t stop to fix another. It by appointment recommended. Specially for me I had a big job. He did front brakes all four struts , oil change and the stabilizer bar. He send me pictures and videos as he was working on my Toyota Highlander 2009. I highly recommended him to anyone. I was having problems with the air conditioning in my Hyundai Santa Fe for a few weeks. I drove in this morning in an emergency type of situation being that I was about to go on a road trip from Jersey to Boston by this afternoon. Richard was very helpful and looked into my problem right away. I forewent the diagnostic test and instead trusted his recommendation on the replacement of the blower motor resistor. He had the part in and repaired within an hour. I was highly satisfied with the speed and quality of the work and his friendly disposition. I will return with my future car repair needs.

Ritchie is a good guy and has been servicing my cars for a few years now. On a couple of occasions he could've taken advantage of the situation and charged me more but explained how the car didn't need the additional work. Most mechanics would've just said sorry I'm gonna have to do more work and charge extra for something I wouldn't be able to verify. Ritchie knows his stuff and has always gotten the work done in a timely manner.

Richard is an amazing, knowledgeable and caring mechanic! This was our first time using him but he came highly recommended from a cousin of mine who has been going to him for years. What I loved is how much he fixed major damage to our suspension and tire in such a timely manner. He also stayed in constant communication about everything. I appreciated that he sent us pictures of the damages along with explanations as to why he needs to order certain parts and what he can fix himself. Keeping us in the loop reassured me that he was working hard on our car even when he had other cars to fix. Lastly he went above and beyond to save us money!! He fixed our tire himself and also salvage our rim which could’ve easily cost us another $400. I feel no other mechanic would’ve done that!! He is definitely the hardest working, honest and caring mechanic I have ever dealt with. I will always recommend him and go to him from now on for our future auto repair needs. THANK YOU RICHARD!!!

Over the summer Richard replaced my engine in my 2010 Chevy Impala. He did an awesome job!! He was very thorough, sent pictures and explained everything every step of the way. He fixed it in a timely manner. We only take our car to him now for oil changes, maintenance, etc. We will continue to use him for all our car needs in the future! Richard is a very knowledgeable and caring mechanic. I highly recommend him!!

My car was towed to Viejo auto repair on monday afternoon after not being able to get it to start for over a week. The owner Richard was very kind and assured me that he would call me the next day with an answer. My car had a bad distributor and refused to start, this was also draining my battery. Richard and his team diagnosed the issues very quickly and ordered new parts to fix my car. By Tuesday afternoon my car was fully fixed. On top of diagnosing the issue and replacing the parts, Richard also recharged my dead battery and fixed all my ground wires to make sure my car was running better than ever! I highly recommend this shop to everyone. The employees are very kind and very helpful, I will definitely be taking my car back here in the future.

This shop came highly recommended and I can see why. When I arrived he was mid installation of some cameras and a sound system and I saw the car was from out of state. And this is the kind of mechanic you drive across state lines for. Richard, the owner, is very communicative. He sent pictures throughout the whole repair process. I saw the parts that needed changing and saw the pieces that were being installed prior to installation. I was informed on what to look out for, how to care for the car to get better mileage from the parts installed and given a time frame to expect when I needed to get stuff looked at. The works. He worked quickly and I saw that he devotes his time to each vehicle, unlike other mechanics I’ve dealt with, he wasn’t scrambling. Very organized, very clear and very efficient. The car was done way faster than expected. I got my whole brake system overhauled and some minor electrical work and I had my when he projected I’d have my car back. I called to schedule when I can drop the car off and he was ready when I arrived. It was the best mechanic experience I’ve had in my whole 16 years of being a driver. I expected to pay 1.5x more and was sure that somehow it would all cost an arm and a leg, but nope. Quality repairs, quality service and they’ve officially become the ONLY MECHANIC THAT I WILL RECOMMEND.

I recently brought my car in because I noticed a leak. Turns out the last mechanic I took the car to didn’t put a new exhaust as he claimed. The exhaust wasn’t even the problem. Richard not only fixed the problem, but he sent me pictures and videos explaining everything the other mechanic had done and what needed to be fixed. He even caught that my radiator needed fixing, while other mechanics said my car didn’t need any work. Thanks to him my car is better then ever. 10/10 service. Definitely will be returning for any future issues or maintenance.

I was referred to Richard by my BF and his family. I went in for brakes and tires and some lights on my dashboard. Richard was so thorough he sent me photos of the bad parts he removed and went over what he replace and the costs when I arrived to pick up my car. In 5 years that I’ve owned my car I’ve had the breaks done twice - wrong and was waiting to finally find a good mechanic. I brought my wife's 2009 Nissan Rogue in to Viejo Auto Repair because of the great reviews on google. The Rogue would start shaking when accelerating between 40 mph and 50 mph and I was concerned for her safety. I had the dealer perform all recall work and it was still doing it. Richard was very thorough and explained all the different things that could be causing it. He spent a lot of time on it, repeatedly test driving the car until he was able to pinpoint and fix the problem! Not only that, he gave the car a full inspection and showed me other issues the car had that should be looked into as well, such as my brand new tires already showing uneven wear indicating an alignment issue. My prior mechanic was always so busy, these little things would often be missed until it became a bigger problem down the road. I am very grateful to Richard for being able to fix the Rogue and for the level of service that he provided. He really cares about his customers and their satisfaction with his work. I will definitely be coming back to Richard for all of my auto repair needs in the future.

Visited Viejo Auto Repair on 11/6/18. I came in asking for transmission fluid to be replaced as another mechanic had recommended the service. Richard gave my car a full inspection and explained that this could wait for another 10,000+ miles as it's an expensive service. I appreciated he was both keeping an eye out of my wallet while ensuring my car was well maintained! He recommended some other routine maintenance, walked me through and sent pictures of all of his work. Would absolutely recommend this place!

Richard is an excellent mechanic, knows his cars and will go the extra mile to take care of his customers. I had my car repaired for the same break issue twice by another mechanic some where else. I just got frustrated and decided to try a new place. I tell you Richard will be my mechanic for my cars from now on. He is honest and meticulous with his work.
