Honesty, fair prices, and quality work - that's pretty much all you can ask for in a shop - and that's what you get with Jay, Eric and the rest of the crew at Contoocook Auto Clinic. I've been bringing my vehicles here for 7+ years and I know I can trust them to fix only what needs fixing, do it right the first time, and/or give honest advice. Whether it's a 40 year old hooptie (I have a few of those) or something a lot more modern, this is the only shop I trust to work on my family's vehicles.

Charged me $160 for an inspection, oil change and to check my battery… should have been $45 floor the inspection and $80 MAX for the oil change. When I asked the mechanic about it, he told me it took a half an hour to check my battery. I know for a fact it took max 5 minutes. Very disappointed…. For a mom and pop shop I thought their prices would be better.
We've gone to tooky auto clinic a few times. These guys are superb! They helped my husband, a us a.f veteran get his truck back on the road, as well as help with my vehicle after getting the run around from a dealership. They treat you like a human not just a costumer. Patient, kind and friendly, highly recommend!! Thank you to Mike as well for listening and being so helpful, trying to fix vehicles on a budget is super scary. They make it so much better!!
When one of my tires was losing air quickly as I traveled south on route 89, I was able to find Contoocook Auto Clinic. Although I did not have an appointment, they fit me into their schedule quickly and had the tire repaired in a short time for a very reasonable price.
Turns out not all gas stations in this state have bathrooms and I was desperate after several warnings from my in laws I still decided to go ask for a bathroom and the guys were as nice as could be! Thank y’all very very much!!
This is the only shop I trust to work on my vehicle. They have always done an amazing job fixing whatever issues I've had, and are super nice to deal with. I highly recommend this garage.
Dropped my truck off at 11:30 to have a slow leak in a tire looked at. Got a call at 2:30, all done, screw removed and tire plugged, all for a very reasonable price! Highly recommend!
The quality, savings and service were awesome! My transmission went out en route to vacation to NH from Virginia. Local friends swore by them so had it towed from car dealership to them and saved over $2K - also got picked up at the bus station in my car by mechanic who fixed it once I flew back up to get my car after it was repaired making my trip back so much easier!
Got a flat tire on a local dirt road and came in here for a patch, the people working were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Patched my tire quickly and got right back on the road. Highly recommend this shop
I was traveling through the area on our way to VT when my boyfriend and I ran over a screw in the road. With 15 minutes before closing, we called and explained our situation. They told us to come in nonetheless. We got there and the service could not have been better. The mechanic that helped us was extremely nice and very efficient. He plugged the tire in 10 minutes, filled all my tires with air, and charged us bare minimum before sending us on our way. Thank you so much Contoocook Auto Repair! Couldn’t recommend more!
Dropped my car off to have issues with intermittent shifting difficulty assessed and an oil change. Seven hours later, no word so I called them and was told that the shifting issues might be related to the transmission but they couldn't say what was causing them. Charged $52 to briefly drive it and check the transmission fluid. The person I spoke with on the phone couldn't comment on the clutch or flywheel, meaning it was likely never assessed. At the end of it, they had the right make but wrong model of the vehicle. So after paying $52 for a thirty minute thorough diagnostic assessment, they couldn't tell me why my car was intermittently having shifting issues or even correctly identify what kind of car it was. Basically I paid $80 for an oil change and wasted my one day off this week when I could have taken it elsewhere and had a more in depth assessment completed and possibly had the identified problem resolved. I dont think they are bad people, but I also am unlikely to return.
Addendum: Due to the pandemic, I have returned to this establishment several times as they are local. I will say that although there is nothing untruthful about my initial review, my interactions with them on subsequent visits was markedly improved. They seemed more competent and generally aware than my first interaction. Giving my first interaction one star, and my subsequent three interactions five stars, I am averaging them out and revising my review to four star. From my experience, there is a 75% chance that you will get excellent service, so take that for what its worth.
I needed help with a dead battery Was helped right away with in home service. My helper Eric was understanding professional and prompt with my battery replacement and also helped with replacement gas cap that l needed for months. Thankful for such caring service in our Town of Contoocook. So lucky to have them here.
Great guys—when we showed up with brake problems in the middle of a road trip, they squeezed us in at the end of the day and stayed late to finish the job, keeping us on the road and saving us a major delay in our trip home.
