Great fish fry Fridays (with other options too for the non-fish lovers). Our table had cod and carp and everyone enjoyed their food. We also got some kolaches, the cherry was amazing with such soft and tasty dough.
My late husband and I had planned to make the drive from Lincoln to Abie for it's renowned Wednesday offering of pork, sauerkraut, dumplings, and rye bread. Sadly, we didn't get there before he passed. But I was very happy to finally visit Abie's Place today in his honor. The food was hot, delicious, and authentic Czech fare. Outstanding! My beloved Bohemian husband would have approved! ❤️ ?
We have eaten at Abie’s Place on Wednesday's through the year! Their pork and dumplings, kolach, rye bread are the best. Also, we have had wings and fries, WOW!
When I'm in the mood for Vepřo knedlo zelo I make the 60 mile drive to the only place on the planet that makes it the way I like it! Even if you're not into Czech cuisine, Abie's Place is a rare find. I love the small town atmosphere and the super friendly people. As a bonus, you can pick up some of the best kolaches on this side of the Danube.
So the famous Bohemian Cafe in Omaha shut down a few years ago. Run into the ground by the children of the original founders. So along with me, and a couple friends and family, we made the 2-hour drive from Omaha into Abie's place to get a little little taste of Czechoslovakian authenticity. It did not disappoint. The food was amazing. The service from Mary and her staff was off the chart great. The back and forth banter with the entire staff was hilarious, and by no means interfered with the dining experience. We shared photos of our kids, along with a few fun stories about life the universe and everything. There is nothing bad I can say about this establishment. I was at first skeptical about the 4-Hour round trip commitment. But it was totally worth it. If you're hungry, go there right now. Last thing: kolaches. I'm not a big dessert guy, And mixing fruit and pastry is definitely not my thing. But Abie's does them in a way that makes me a convert.
We had a good time at Abie's place. The place was very busy the night we went. Lots a friendly people there. I assume they were mostly local to the area. It was nice. Server was very attentive and took good care of us even though it was busy. The place is functional; but not fancy.
We went for the Bohemian food on Wednesday night. It was good, but not great.
Not sure if we'll go again.
Love coming here. The food is very reasonably priced, the people are super friendly, and their food has always been consistent and delicious. Also, crazy to think back when I was a kindergartner at the school, but it does make for a great restaurant.
Also, their Kolaces are delicious and I have to get a dozen every time I come there ?.
A hidden gem! We enjoyed a fabulous Czech lunch of roast pork, dumplings, kraut and rye bread. They had one very hardworking staff member working the crowded dining room and cash register. Abie's Place has some incredible baked goods to go. I can't wait to go back.
Great kolaches and bread. Friday fish fry is excellent and they have polka bands and dancing. Very fun atmosphere. If it’s busy it takes a while to get food but that just means you have time to relax, visit, have a few beers and enjoy the fun.
Best duck and dumplings around! Usually only on Holidays, Mother's Day, Father's Day. Prime Rib night, fish night, burger night, etc. I drive 120 miles round trip! Oh yeah, I forgot, grab yourself a couple dozen of the baked kolaches when you leave. You'll be eating them on the way home!
We were so excited to receive this beautiful box of goodies! Kolache are hard to find in California and I can't physically make them myself anymore! Being ? Czech, our trips to Nebraska are few!
Good food and a good place to stop. The owners are friendly and the prices here are great. A little out of the way but worth the stop in you're in the area and looking to find a bite to eat.
The food was out of this world. The rye bread (and all of the baked goods) was so darned good. Great people. Fun customers. Really enjoyed the music and dancing with everybody!
