American Garage are always so quick with any vehicle work we need done, they are honest with good rates and have wonderful communication. They are a 5 star shop in all aspects of their business!
You show up, drop off keys with auto shop, they do their thing, efficiently, while you wait in their waiting area that has snacks and drinks, tv to watch and free WiFi to kill time until your ride is finished. The guy sits down with you and tells you what’s going with your vehicle when it’s done.
Had a wheel bearing fail later in a buisness day 1000 miles from home, Bob was able to get me in the next morning once i got my truck to them. Also recommended a couple towing companies in the area.
Had me in and out in under a day, and an extremely reasonable price for everything!

American Garage is what you should expect from a mechanic. Honest, fair, she transparent. In addition to that, they're also flexible.

I had a bad leak from a brick rock in my front tire on my way back from Glacier National Park to Michigan 15 miles east of American Garage and could not get the spare tire down on my F150 early in the morning. Upon my arrival at the garage with an almost flat tire, Bob looked at it and said: “we better get it in the shop before it’s all flat”. Everybody was very nice, professional and courteous. 35 minutes later I was back on the road with a repaired tire l. Great service. This experience made my day! Thank you American Garage!
I cannot speak highly enough of American Garage. Our vehicle started having issues on a cross country road trip and we stumbled upon the best automotive repair shop we have ever been to. The owner, receptionist and general manager were all incredibly kind, detail oriented, honest, attentive, fast and bent over backwards to accommodate fixing our car so we could continue on our road trip, even staying late to do so. They made our wait extremely comfortable with a nice waiting area, great refreshments and lovely conversation. The cost was less than originally quoted and very reasonable. We wish we lived locally so we could have them as our regular mechanic! Thank you American Garage for your excellent service, you were an incredible blessing to us!

American Garage exudes professionalism! After having my car serviced, an issue arose on a day they were closed. Scott came to my house, took the car to his shop and corrected the matter promptly! American Garage has just earned all of my business!!
We were fortunate to have our motorhome breakdown 1/2 mile from the BEST repair shop I’ve ever been to. American Garage took care of a broken serpentine belt and water pump V belt. This with rusted bolts that broke and had to be drilled out. Scott (the owner) and Bob the General Manager, worked later into the evening and early the next day to get us back on our cross country adventure. Their UNMATCHED kindness to let us stay overnight in the parking lot.
My experience at American Garage was pleasant and professional from the minute I entered their showroom, reception area, and waiting lounge. The personnel are all pleasant, well informed, and gave excellent customer service. The work on my car was thorough, efficient, and correct. I appreciated the amenities in the waiting lounge and the follow up call after the work was done.
Scott and his crew are amazing! I was passing through town on vacation from Michigan. My travel trailer broke a spring and he helped us tow it to his garage, sourced the parts, and installed it same afternoon. It was amazing! I’m so thankful for him being willing to help. It really saved our vacation and my marriage probably! Thanks again for being so fair and willing to help. 10 stars!!

I got a flat tire 30 miles from their shop, I called and spoke to Heather who was very nice and helpful, and Scott ( the owner) came out to help me almost right away. He got me back on the road. He was great and was very fair priced. So if you have car trouble near Chinook, MT definitely call American garage. They will get you back on the road. Thank you Scott and Heather for you help.

Hands down. Scott, Julie and all The people behind the scenes I didn't get to meet, did an awesome job. Super professional and are easy to work with if you're in the Havre Chinook area. It's well worth a little drive to give these folks your business. You won't regret it. I work on the road and they fit me in to their busy schedule. Not once but twice and went above and beyond to help me out when I was in a pinch. I can't say thank you enough to this crew for just being downright Awesome! Thank you again!
I brought in a very troubled diesel pickup of mine and American garage was able to figure out all the issue that were going on quickly and start tearing it apart. They walked me through everything that they fixed and replaced and made sure I understood the purpose of what they were doing. I would recommend them to anyone having automotive troubles or just needing to get vehicle maintenance done. Thank you American Garage!
The service was extremely helpful and friendly. Julie Neely is the best receptionist AG has ever had. The results of the exhaust work didn't really meet my expectations, but being it was a 6 cylinder engine and I wanted it to sound like a V8 I knew it was going to be next to near impossible job.

They corrected my exhaust system. It had more than 300k miles. Since I live in Great Falls they have parts ready and an appointment set. Great people to work with and be around. Please USE AMERICAN GARAGE in Chinook Mt. I highly recommend them.
I recently had the pleasure of American Garage providing service for my vehicle. Scott and his team were able to quickly diagnose, provide clear details about what needed to be repaired and, most importantly, why the specific repairs recommended were needed. Scott also informed me of items that could be postponed and addressed at a later time. Scott informed me that some of the work needed was under warranty and would be completed at no cost. I know that I can trust Scott and his team to provide me with excellent service and first-class information and recommendations. I know that I can count on Scott, Tony, and the two Heather's to do their utmost to provide me with 5-star service and courtesy.
Coming from a similar customer service business myself where we as owners tried to set an example for our crew to deliver genuine customer satisfaction, I can tell you the same is going on at American garage. It is very obvious that they are doing everything they can to provide the best possible customer experience. They squeezed me on for a tire blowout so I could get back to hunting and did it with a smile. I'll be going back next week for 5 new tires. Highly recommend shop.
They installed tow mirrors on our GMC pickup that we bought from them. It ended up being a complicated and difficult task but the mirrors are really nice. Great service and they
are able to deal with very technical details. Even let us borrow a nice car while the work was being completed. Thanks.
We were on our way back from the Canadian Rockies, returning to Wisconsin, towing my 30' fifth wheel when my truck broke down just east of Chinook. I was able to limp it back to Chinook, and find the Bear Paw Campground. The closest GM dealer is Havre, but that was a Towing bill away. A quick search of Auto repair places brought me to American Garage.
I contacted them Monday morning, explaining my situation...still 15+ hours from home, etc. Heather and Scott were able to make time and get it evaluated Monday afternoon, and the results weren't good...I needed a new transfer case! OUCH!
American Garage earned the 5-Star rating because they did the best they could to get us on the road again in a timely manner. Obviously great mechanics, but they worked with my shop at home to get parts warrantied, vehicle history, etc. All this happened behind the scenes so to speak.
I can't say enough about their professionalism and personal touch. Knowing we had a 12 & 14 year old along, Heather made it a point to make sure we knew about the city pool, museums, etc in Chinook. We had a few extra days added to our vacation, but it certainly could have been worse.

Best place ever! Always up front, make sure you know everything and OPTIONS before it is fixed. Willing to take the time to talk about vehicle problems, and help make maintenance easy. Can't say anything bad about them and have been a client for years (and I live in a larger town but drive to leave my vehicle with them)!! Heather and Scott are honest, reliable and very, very knowledgeable.
