You cannot beat the customer service here. Clint and his family excel at it. We live 40 miles away and even though there are places closer that could meet our needs, we will drive the extra miles for the exceptional customer service and knowledge here. We have pretty much built our house from Powell's inventory. Can't give it enough stars.
I called Powell’s True Value in Appleton City, MO, 45 minutes before they close on a Saturday.
Told them I wanted specifically on lumber and was on my way. With a happy voice he said “no problem I’ll have it ready when you get here. Do you need the boards cut or can you haul them whole?” My response was I should be good to haul whole I’m bringing a long bed pickup. Hung up realized I changed my mind on the board width call back in and changed my order. (Yes I know I’m a pain.) When I got there they loaded me up asked about my spouse we talked about the baby and they strapped the lumber down and sent me on my way.
Now in the picture you’ll notice there is a small ribbon tie to the end of the board. Signaling that it’s hanging out past my long bed pickup. I did not put it there. They had it on there and ready to go. So not only did they take the time to make sure I will be able to haul what I was asking for. They took the time to make sure there was a flag on it. I did not even look at the lumber, but I knew when I got home it would be good quality straight boards.
We had our entire house built primarily out of products from Powell’s back in 2020 And we have continued to use them since. Overall, customer service stands second to none.
What I am getting at here is you will not get that type of service, or relationship with any big store around. They are worth the drive, even if you have other options on the way. They take pride in the products they provide you and they care about you and your family. Shopping local and small will almost always give you a better product, service, and overall experience.
This place is fantastic! A family owned and operated business. We have worked with them for many years. The customer service is first class. They are very knowledgeable and do everything they can to help you.
Great place to get all kinds of things. Good prices too! And the people that work there are nice and friendly and know where everything is in their store. I love this place!
Nice clean environment. Friendly customer service. More than one selection of many items considering the size of Appleton City. Prices are honest and will spend there again.
Excellent service for so early in the morning even I don't know if I could be that cheaper that time of day and the overall variety of selection of manufacturers and suppliers to be found here blows almost any place else I've been out of the water just for sheer diversity an excellent stop if you're in the area.
