Worst experience ever. Ownership has no ability to show kindness or concern for the situation. When called, the individual on the phone immediately escalates the situation by accusing me of being rude and having an attitude. From reading other reviews, it sounds like they have no formal pricing guide and are charging people what they feel is correct based on the level of "attitude" we have on the phone. If you intend to do business, or contract, with these individuals, expect to be treated as a child and told "no, because I said so."

So I had a horrible experience that turned into a not so bad situation. I was delivering furniture to someone off 308 W 8th St, Kansas City, MO 64105 last night. I parked in a parking lot across from the lofts to unload the furniture. Couldn't have been there for no more than 10 mins and my truck was lifted in the air. Now I could get on here and bash this company and the tow truck driver. In all honesty I parked somewhere where I was not permitted to park. I didn't think it would be a problem as I was working but these tow truck drivers don't know what we are doing. All they know is a vehicle is in a parking lot that doesn't have a permit. I should of found somewhere else even if there wasn't no where to park. Now the tow truck was an ass but when I think about it. I'm sure he gets his life threatened and more on a daily. So his attitude is read the signs which he is absolutely right. I should of known not to park somewhere where I see a sign that says vehicles will be towed at owners expense. Meaning these apartment lots have contracts with tow companies to make sure no one that doesn't have a permit to park there and if they do it is subjected to be towed. My fault and I paid that lesson. He said it was $150 to drop it and it was only cash now I didn't have cash and I was not really familiar with the area to find an ATM. He told me to call the number on the truck and I was pissed. Called the number customer service was decent could of been better but in that line of work I can see if someone is calling you frantically and not letting you get a word in or how there policy works I would probably get irritated as well. Had to schedule an appointment to get my truck this morning couldn't get it last night because after 9pm they stop doing releases of vehicles. You need license, up to date insurance and registration which I had all of that. $350 to get my truck out of the lot and when I say this was a paid lesson. I read the reviews and trust me I understand because it just happened to me. But I can say it was my fault my truck was towed nobody else. I can't blame this tow company. The process to get my truck was smooth because I had all the paperwork I needed to get my truck. I feel the fee was high but the price is what it is. I'm just thankful I was able to get my truck and they were open. So thank you for the some what of an easy process, paid learned lesson.

they were trying to tow a uhual that was being used by a resident that was moving from my apartment complex. luckily setting off my own car alarm drew attention to the resident and they were able to drive off in time unlike when my car got towed at 6 pm on christmas eve. they are extremely rude even when just trying to get basic info on how to get your car back. lied to me and said i had to pay extra to get my car back on christmas eve when i later found out that they were supposed to be accessible since christmas eve is not a federal holiday. they won’t tell you that you need an appointment or that they only take cash until you show up just to prolong the amount of time that they have your car. seriously the scum of the earth and i wish them all the worst.

I wish I could give this company a negative rating. I can’t begin to express how negative their “manager” was (Linda maybe?). She spoke so horridly to me when I was just calling to ask a simple question and I remained calm throughout what turned into a 15 minute phone call of her screaming at me. I truly have never been spoken to like that before. She deserves to be fired at the very least. Their “office” is a tiny window on a metal box with bars. That shows a lot. They will not work with you at all. The LEAST understanding people. It shouldn’t be hard to have an OUNCE of kindness. I wish police could be involved and take down this power trip of a person and company. Parking wrong was my fault but I did absolutely nothing to deserve the disrespect I received from her.

Clear communication can solve most problems, unless there's ill intent. The employees and owner of this company seem so angry and bitter with their work. I believe this is because they know they are exploiting the public. Last month, my daughter's car was towed for being double-parked at her apartment. When I asked for proof, the reaction was as if I was asking for a kidney. The woman I dealt with—her name might have been Linda, though it should’ve been Karen—was extremely rude. I had no choice but to involve the police just to get the car back. I am not sure why this industry is allowed to operate like its the wild west.

I wish i could give a negative rating! The manager and the front desk lady are just terrible THEY ARE RACIST!!! . Im a 57 yr old disabled vet. Car was towed because i had to go to ER my relative parked the car in a hurry. i called the lady was extremely rude hung up in my face called back to speak to manager i was very angry he cursed me out and said a very offensive word. THEY NEED TO PUNISHED and their business destroyed! I am just beside myself and i was very polite on the phone. This will not be tolerated !

Apparently these people are contracted through my community. Some weird shady lady snooped around my car n put a sticker on it for the tags, then I call and the lady n the phone says the manager will call me back, never did. It’s fine though 🤭🤭 good luck getting my car 🤷♂️🤷♂️😂

Worst people and company ever i ran my groceries up to my apartment had my car flashers on i was gone for 2 seconds and they tried to tow me and charged me 150 dollars when I got down there the guy was going very fast to try to get it done quick before I came back down I feel robbed everyone does that it's where I live I've seen lots of people do that no one gets towed there was a car right in front of me doing it and they were with door dash they didn't get towed but I did all the parking spaces were took so I parked in front of my apartment building to bring groceries in so I didn't have to walk a long way anyway I'm glad I don't have that job they aren't a very good company at all

Within ten minutes of parking in an entirely empty lot, my vehicle was towed—admittedly my mistake for not paying closer attention to the signage. Upon discovering my car was missing, I called the police, who informed me that “tow companies hide out and wait for this.” This is the textbook definition of predatory practices. When I contacted the number on the sign, the representative I spoke to was unnecessarily rude, despite my initial respectful and calm demeanor. Her attitude quickly escalated the situation, though all I wanted was information about retrieving my vehicle. I was told I had to call back in the morning to make an appointment, and only then would I be informed of the pickup location. To make matters worse, the charges exceeded the amount listed on the sign because, as they explained, the vehicle “crossed over a calendar day” and accrued two days of storage fees. This is not only unreasonable but also borders on outright theft. I fully acknowledge my error in parking in the wrong spot. However, I find it highly questionable that a property manager even called to report my vehicle—this operation feels far more like tow truck drivers lurking for easy cash. The fact that payments are only accepted in cash (unless you provide a notarized letter to use a debit card) raises even more red flags. Perhaps the IRS would be interested in this detail. While I anticipate your boilerplate response about being “contracted by property managers,” these practices are blatantly exploitative. This experience reflects poorly on your business and reinforces the negative perception of predatory towing companies. Bottom line, predatory practices should be illegal. “Rather fail with honor than succeed by fraud.”-Sophocles

Saw them already in the parking lot walking around when I first parked. Got towed 20 min later, got towed in an apartment parking lot but I came out in time to see my car on the tow truck. Wouldn’t tell me which apartment complex they work for. They requested cash to take my car off. Hella sus and predatory company

Vehicle was towed from 9th and central to their place on Agnes. $350. That’s a 3.3 mile tow. Absolutely predatory and awful for people parking downtown.

This place is so unprofessional. Just take a look at the way they respond to people. I should’ve left my review up after seeing that but it’s okay life will catch up to yall. 4 ppl I know now have been towed by this place and charged $400 to retrieve their car after one night. parked right or wrong $400-$450 is outrageous and should be illegal.

I was towed from a private parking lot on NYE after 12 minutes. I was at fault for parking there but that is not my issue with this company. I immediately called and asked about my car and was told that due to the holidays the earliest I could get my car back was Jan 2nd by appointment only. I wait two days and call and ask for a breakdown on the charges. $380 with $80 due to 3 days of storage. When I argued that I should not be charged for the two extra days of storage—given that I was explicitly told I couldn’t retrieve my car earlier—I was informed that I could have picked it up on those days and that the employee who told me otherwise was "misinformed." I ask if I can talk to a manager about the pricing and none was there but "he would say the same thing as me you could have picked it up." Since I need my car for work I am forced to pay (In cash only or debit with a notarized note from your bank, awesome). It's completely unethical and disgusting to charge me 2 extra days of storage and leave me unable to pick up my car due to misinformation your own employee gave me. I know no one picks the company that tows their car and my one star review won't do much to the reputation of a vile, exploitative, business with predatory practices but this is the least I could do. Happy new years!

I own a small Trucking Company in the Kansas City area. One of my drivers was involved in a very minor fender bender. Metro Tow and Transport pulls into the accident site. No one called them as the police were not even involved. They convinced my driver there is damage to the right front steering wheel. I was not close enough to get to the scene. I get the call from my driver saying that the truck needs to be towed. I of course first started asking him questions about what was wrong. Long story short I do not know as I am not there, so they tow the truck 17 miles for $1963.50. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the truck besides it tore off 2 plastic lug covers, worth about $2.00. I was trying to do the safest thing in an unfortunate situation. Real professional Metro Tow! Way to take advantage of an industry that your business rotates around. Nothing like scamming someone!

Towed a disabled US Army veterans vehicle in a disabled zone. $400 for a 7 minute drive. Trash company and the owner should be ashamed of themselves.

If I could give this establishment NO stars I definitely would. I briefly read through a few of the other reviewers to see if they’d had similar experiences, which many of them had. This made me feel much better as I really thought I’d said something to deserve the ill treatment I just received from the woman who answered the phone. My car was towed back in May because my tags were expired, nothing more. When they towed my car I didn’t have the money to get it out, nor could I find the title to hand it over. It was a cash car that I used as a back up when my main one had issues. Long story short, it was still listed on my property tax as being in my possession. As a result, I asked the tow company to give me a letter stating the tow date, as well as the fact that I abandoned it per the woman’s words (I agree with this). The woman who answered the phone started accusing me of arguing & became hostile when I started asking clarifying questions. It really was unclear why I couldn’t get some notice stating they took my car (she even said it might’ve been crushed). Eventually, she told me that it was my problem, not hers before hanging up on me in my face while I was still talking. I really was shocked at this display of poor customer service. I hope whatever was bothering this woman gets resolved quickly & she does better with the next customer. Life is happening to each of us. Take a class to learn how to address perceived conflict, as well as a communication course.

Called the night I was towed and was given instructions and an amount of money to get the car back. Upon following those instructions was told by the woman running the office (it seems like this is a theme) that I was lying about calling in and then upped my charge. Later told me she wouldn’t help me because I “should have been nicer”. Was also told my name wasn’t on the registration (it is) and wouldn’t give me the car until my co-signer arrived. Pretty miserable experience even for a tow company.

As many of others have said, crooks stealing money. They're losing our apartment complex's contract for parking enforcement, if that tells you anything. Two more things; 1) they won't even provide you a picture of YOUR vehicle as to "why" they decided to tow - not my complex's call, their call. And, 2) their "office" is a cargo container with an exterior window that you speak through, with bullet proof glass, bars, and only opens 10 inches. Think of a jail cell, which is where they belong.

The lady who answers the phone is absolutely disgusting to deal with. She is nasty and rude from the time she answers the phone until she gets off. You have to make an appointment to get your car. If the lady who answers the phone doesn’t like the questions you ask, she will block your number and you will be on your own to get your car. Something feels very off about this establishment and I honestly feel the need to report them. Very odd interaction.

They towed our vehicle then when you call the lady on the phone says it would be $350 cash, they won't tell you their location, but said I can call o. A Sunday for a release but now they aren't open Sundays, and likely they will charge me an extra day even though that aren't open for me to retrieve my vehicle. Feels like say one thing then do another, just to get $$

we recently were in a tricky situation where our rental car was towed, initially it was very stressful trying to get everything figured out with the rental company and the towing company, but thankfully the workers at Metro Tow & Transport were very patient with us and were able to help us get everything figured out smoothly, and we are so thankful for them!! Word of advice: be patient and everything will work out!

THE WORST Lady answered the phone for an inquiry on a car. As soon as they pick up I simply asked if this is in fact metro tow she purposely doesn’t answer and repeats what can I do for you. I ask her again is this metro tow just need to make sure. She brings a scoff from the back of her throat to give me attitude and rush me to ask my next question. I ask this lady 3 times upon picking up the call is this metro tow just to finally get a yes. So IMAGINE the rest of the interaction. I ask her if she’s having an okay day after that cause in no way do I want a sassy conversation about very important property. She makes a point not to answer OR acknowledge the tension she’s causing and begins to want to rush me off the phone.Refused to give name. Simple question was “Did your company schedule to pick my car up I have a notice” was very rude and didn’t want to give any information. Very much rushing me off the phone. Took EVERY opportunity TO BE SHORT with me about very real business. A lawsuit is promised if in fact this is the company that I was supposed to be contacting and they dare to touch my property.😊

Terrible “company” I wouldn’t even call it a company at this point. They make up their own rules and “have to’s”. Can’t go to your car to get any information so if you gotta go to dmv to get copies GUESS WHAT more daily fees for the tow lot. The apartments need to get a petition to drop these losers. I wouldn’t even rent from these apartments if they use them.

Woman I spoke with was very short and rude to me. Wouldn't let me get my house keys from vehicle so I could go get my title and I was locked out from my apartment. 9pm and I live alone; maintenance won't help at that time of night. So i couldn't car for my pets or access my medication overnight. I'm diabetic! Had to call a friend to crash on their couch so I wasn't stuck outside.

The worst of the wost in have a private car port and someone parked on my spot call this company since there are the ones that are hired at our apartment complex to remove cars from property and on there web page says they are 24/7 plus they take 30 min to be there. when i called they said be there in a hour a hour passed by nothing i call a again and they stated that i called and said i didn’t need them anymore when i didn’t so i told them. i still need you to come take in mind this is started around 10 pm i was in my car waiting till 12 am and never showed up plus they block my number so i stopped bothering them!!! what kind of disgusting company is this… they are useless and unprofessional.. i pay for my spot for a reason…

Owner is a quick tempered loose cannon and his business funded by poor practices and a misunderstanding of the law. They towed my car but didn't know that I had a security camera that caught them nailing up the "Vehicle will be towed" sign. After I paid $350 ransom to get my car back, I came to them showing proof of their fraud and wanted my money back. The owner got very offended and started threatening me in the middle of the street. I don't have the money for a civil suite but if anyone else is filing one I'll give you every bit of evidence I have. They aren't even registered with the BBB

I recently had a very frustrating experience with a towing company. When I called, the person who answered the phone seemed to be upset from the start. I believe she mistook me for someone else and started off the conversation by accusing me of being rude, even though I hadn't said anything yet. My car was towed from a spot where I thought it was legally parked, as there were no "no parking" signs. The person I spoke to mentioned that they had a contract with the apartment complex where I was parked and claimed that I was parked by a fire hydrant, even though I have pictures showing that there was no marking indicating it was a no-parking spot. When I call to retrieve my car, I found out that I needed to provide proof of my ID, insurance, and title or registration. Unfortunately, my proof of registration was inside my car, and my title was located in another state. They wouldn't let me access the title inside the car, which was very frustrating. Both the owner and the receptionist were confrontational and unhelpful, and both the receptionist and owner even threatened to hold my car for additional days if I didn't comply with their demands as some sort of punishment for being in their universe. I had to involve the police to help facilitate the retrieval of my car and to ensure that the situation didn't escalate further. This whole experience left me feeling like I was taken advantage of and treated unfairly. I am considering taking legal action to address this issue.

If I could give 0 stars to this establishment I would. The level of disrespect and rudeness from every employee we dealt with in person or on the phone was astounding. We got our car towed 30 minutes after our parking time ran out. An unfair cash grab. You get your car towed in the middle of the night but can’t pick your car up until 8:45am. I had medication in my car that I needed that night, I stayed on the phone with someone for 30 minutes trying to figure it out, and they said I needed to text them proof of my id, insurance, and title or registration. And like any normal person my proof of registration was in my car, and they wouldn’t take my word for it in an emergency situation. All I can say is make sure to pay for parking in KC, so that you don’t have to deal with these people who hate their lives so much that they decided to get this job so that they may make others hate their life too. I guess it is true; misery loves company. And this company is full of misery.

Terrible terrible terrible. I was not given a receipt nor who called to tow my car eventhough I have proof from property management in text messages saying it’s fine to park near dumpster on non trash pick up days. They accused me of blocking it without proof. Towed it on a Tuesday night when trash guy doesn’t even come at night. Could’ve called me to move it as I had just gotten home but they are money grabbers. Does not provide with charging fees to see if they are over charging you. I also have proof of the signage of saying a different price than charged. I was over charged! People are super defensive and rude there. Disgusting! I will be fighting this and going back to get my proper receipt and proof of correct charges!!!!

Multiple patrons outside two breweries in East Crossroads witnessed Metro Towing attempt towing a truck and watched the driver crash it into a legally parked car. They then unhooked the truck and left it there, see pic. The legally parked car can’t get out now. Owner of car called the number and Metro Towing claimed it wasn’t them, although everyone had pictures so that the car owner knew who to call. Refused to help at all. Calling police for assistance.
