What clients say about Metro Tow & Transport in Kansas City (MO)

I recently had a very frustrating experience with a towing company. When I called, the person who answered the phone seemed to be upset from the start. I believe she mistook me for someone else and started off the conversation by accusing me of being rude, even though I hadn't said anything yet. My car was towed from a spot where I thought it was legally parked, as there were no "no parking" signs. The person I spoke to mentioned that they had a contract with the apartment complex where I was parked and claimed that I was parked by a fire hydrant, even though I have pictures showing that there was no marking indicating it was a no-parking spot. When I call to retrieve my car, I found out that I needed to provide proof of my ID, insurance, and title or registration. Unfortunately, my proof of registration was inside my car, and my title was located in another state. They wouldn't let me access the title inside the car, which was very frustrating. Both the owner and the receptionist were confrontational and unhelpful, and both the receptionist and owner even threatened to hold my car for additional days if I didn't comply with their demands as some sort of punishment for being in their universe. I had to involve the police to help facilitate the retrieval of my car and to ensure that the situation didn't escalate further. This whole experience left me feeling like I was taken advantage of and treated unfairly. I am considering taking legal action to address this issue.

I own a small Trucking Company in the Kansas City area. One of my drivers was involved in a very minor fender bender. Metro Tow and Transport pulls into the accident site. No one called them as the police were not even involved. They convinced my driver there is damage to the right front steering wheel. I was not close enough to get to the scene. I get the call from my driver saying that the truck needs to be towed. I of course first started asking him questions about what was wrong. Long story short I do not know as I am not there, so they tow the truck 17 miles for $1963.50. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the truck besides it tore off 2 plastic lug covers, worth about $2.00. I was trying to do the safest thing in an unfortunate situation. Real professional Metro Tow! Way to take advantage of an industry that your business rotates around. Nothing like scamming someone!

If I could give this establishment NO stars I definitely would. I briefly read through a few of the other reviewers to see if they’d had similar experiences, which many of them had. This made me feel much better as I really thought I’d said something to deserve the ill treatment I just received from the woman who answered the phone. My car was towed back in May because my tags were expired, nothing more. When they towed my car I didn’t have the money to get it out, nor could I find the title to hand it over. It was a cash car that I used as a back up when my main one had issues. Long story short, it was still listed on my property tax as being in my possession. As a result, I asked the tow company to give me a letter stating the tow date, as well as the fact that I abandoned it per the woman’s words (I agree with this). The woman who answered the phone started accusing me of arguing & became hostile when I started asking clarifying questions. It really was unclear why I couldn’t get some notice stating they took my car (she even said it might’ve been crushed). Eventually, she told me that it was my problem, not hers before hanging up on me in my face while I was still talking. I really was shocked at this display of poor customer service. I hope whatever was bothering this woman gets resolved quickly & she does better with the next customer. Life is happening to each of us. Take a class to learn how to address perceived conflict, as well as a communication course.
