Great customer service ; however what about the scrappers that are peddlers and on foot... No tag, no buy , kinda maken it hard for anyone who is trying to get by and on foot. What has America came to. Great scrapper but kcpd needs to lax on the scrap yards and the people who are actually working and not stealing stereotypes are not cool. Thanks for your help!!!

They have a pretty turn-key system here for recycling scrap steel. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait if there are several other customers ahead of you, but it's nothing out of the ordinary.
I came in to scrap several hundred pounds of #1 bare copper today. I got in line with 2 vehicles in front of me. I sat for quite some time to become 1st in line. The people parked behind me began to get in line with a cart which didn’t make much sense to me being parked behind me but whatever. We got a cart and put an empty bucket to hold our spot in line. A worker comes out takes pictures of licenses ( look at that you’ll be mad I left )and I tell him I’m about to leave I’d been there some time if the line doesn’t speed up I usually go to Lees summit and there process is 100% faster. He says I’ve only heard bad things. But $ talks so I went with Langley. Next thing you know several workers appear including the guy that took the pic. The cart in front of ours moves to scale and my employee and I immediately rush out and start putting buckets of wire on our cart next in line. With just a few more buckets to put on cart he kicks us out of line because all the buckets weren’t loaded on cart ( I kept in truck till last minute because of the crowd, it was rough) and we both were moving quickly as possible. The guy behind us was even shocked having a handful of noting to scrap like everyone in front of us and behind him….. You need a different system. You should pull up to the front and be helped not have people cutting from behind you or walking in off the street line with carts that makes no sense and neither did the guy operating scales pulling us out of line.
I went to a competitor in Lee's Summit on a Saturday morning and was treated horribly by the office staff before conducting business with them. So, I called Langley, explained what I had and the documents proving ownership and info if needed of contact person, since the scrap I had is only purchased from municipal government agencies, and I had bought q huge lot at auction. The lady on the phone was very helpful and pleasant and clearly explained exactly what was required from me. Upon my arrival, they were really, really busy but an employee approached us, asked what we had, I told him and he told me where to go. Once in the correct line, another employee asked what I had, I told him and also told him that I had no clue as to what I'm doing exactly. He clearly explained the process, told me how to sort my metals by type and what's considered clean and dirty for maximum payout. I had no clue lol. The weigh in was simple, all of those employees were friendly, the payment process was simple and easy.
I was completely blown away by the customer service they give considering my earlier visit to a competitor and my assumption of what to expect from a scrap recycling place.

Waited well over 30 minutes in line only for these guys to tell us they don’t take burnt copper. Like I get that and that’s fair, but there was zero need to literally watch us wait in line until it was our turn to go up then go as far to even weigh the copper then tell us they wouldn’t take it. We had well over 200 lbs, they definitely could see that when we first wheeled it up. Also, the whole process they got going on just sucks. Different workers telling us to go different places, there’s not much room to line up and they are slow at getting people through. Terrible experience all around.
Excellent customer service. Will take the time to explain to you how to break up your metal to get the most money for your buck. Thank you for your guys help again.
Will make you park your semi illegally in the middle of a busy street while waiting for paperwork. Will not bring your paperwork to you on the yard/at the loading dock. They also block you once you scale so you can't verify axle weights. Entire yard is covered in metal objects that will give you a flat tire. Good luck.
I usually go to Langley but some odd reason I bought 3 120 gallon tanks drained and some exercise machines the guy ask me if there's any weights on them I said no. He checked it with his magnet I figured I was good to go. I get to front counter and there's a 600 pound deduction I'm like wow go from 1250 to 600 is crazy 135.00 to 41.00 I wasn't even told anything and they expect you to except it. I know 1 person doesn't make the business but be careful people. They must think everyone uses drugs. PEACE photos to come
I love this place. You can really make some decent money. It’s a bit of a learning experience so each time Income back it’s been better and better. I also have to say that everyone is very friendly and helpful. I especially enjoy seeing the woman behind the glass counter. She has a wonderful smile that puts you in a great mood and I look forward to coming here for the indefinite future. 5 stars hands down.
Had my old twin bed frame because I got my son's new beds. Way easier than waiting for bulky items pick up which takes months. I've never been here before but the staff was very helpful and explained what I needed to do. Before I call bulky items I will bring it here if it's metal
Beware! They pay you $5 at the counter if you leave a good review, so the overall rating here is skewed. The dishonesty loses a star for me. With that said, it is a decent place, easy process, but they are picky. I brought in a mix of clean copper fittings and pipe and they gave me #2 for the fittings. They said fittings always get #2, but that doesn’t line up with the grade. Any clean copper without solder or paint should be #1, regardless if it’s piping or fittings. That also takes off a star for me.
