My vehicle was towed and impounded under circumstances I felt were unfair. When I asked about it, the owner and manager, Tyler Doyle, required payment before release. His response left me with the impression that revenue was prioritized over customer concerns.
Overall, I found the
experience frustrating and not reflective of
the hospitality I usually associate with
Columbia.
When I had to retrieve my car after it was towed, I understood that it was a consequence of my own actions and was prepared to accept the responsibility. However, the process was far more confusing and frustrating than it needed to be due to inconsistent information from the company.
My car was towed on a Saturday. When I first called, I was told to come on Sunday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and that the fee would be $100. I specifically asked about late fees and was told there were none. This struck me as unusual, since most towing companies charge additional fees if a vehicle is not picked up right away.
When I arrived on Sunday, the lot was locked. I called again and was told the company had closed early that day and that I would need to return during the week between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. This time, I was quoted $150 instead of $100. The representative assured me that would be the total amount, with no further charges.
Because of my schedule, I could not pick up the car on Monday, so I called once more to confirm the cost. Again, I was reassured that the fee would remain at $150 with no additional charges. However, when I arrived on Tuesday, I was told I had to pay $175 because of an “overnight fee.”
When I explained that I had repeatedly asked about additional fees and was never informed of them, the employees told me that the staff who answer the phones “don’t know what they’re talking about.” As a customer, this was extremely frustrating—especially since their website does not provide detailed information. Clear and accurate communication from phone staff should be a priority, as most customers rely on them for guidance.
As a first-year college student, this experience was stressful and unnecessarily complicated. I hope this review helps the company improve transparency by updating online information and provides future customers with clearer expectations.
Aside from this experience, retrieving my car was an easy and quick process.
I needed a flat bed car transfer for my Tesla to be taken to STL. The guys showed up early and were sooo helpful and nice. From the few places I called, they had the best price as well. I will use again if I need to, I highly recommend!
tiger towing in columbia mo deserves 5 stars. my car was un-drivable in the rain and needed a tow and they were super quick to respond and really helpful. the driver was very friendly and made the whole horribly stressful situation way less awful. definitely would call them again if i ever need a tow.
Tiger towing has saved me twice now! First when my battery died and again when I locked my keys in the car with my kids in it (it was running thank goodness). Both times they got to me quickly and were very kind!
Tiger Towing was so helpful rescuing us with our broken down pickup and travel trailer in the late afternoon. The tow truck drivers delivered us safely to a local RV park and got the travel trailer parked nicely into our site. The next morning a driver was back to take our pickup to get repaired. The dispatcher and drivers were so helpful and kind! I can't give them enough stars!
Bren was incredibly friendly and helped ease my nerves since it was my first time needing a tow. The price felt very reasonable and I feel secure in recommending them to any friends and family if they are even in the unfortunate need.
It was around 9pm and I got a tow about 10 minutes after calling.
I asked them to take the truck to a dealership because I didn’t know where else to take it. TT handled dropping the keys and letting the dealership know what was going on.
The reason for the review is……. The dealership “lost track” of the truck. After I called the dealership multiple times and going to see what was going on, I called Tiger Towing to double check that’s where they took it. TT told me exactly to the letter, where they dropped the truck.
Later, after playing phone tag and going to the dealership again, the dealership told me that TT WENT AND ASKED ABOUT THE TRUCK.
Even if it was covering their own butts(I don’t think so). They went out of their way to make sure things were right.
I was stranded on a hot day with a dead battery. Called Tiger, Tyler assured me they would take care of me. They had a great arrival time, jump started my truck, got me back on the road so I could get a new battery. Wesley was so polite, courteous, and knew his job. I will only use Tiger, they have great service and great prices. They are my only recommendation. The company as a whole has great family values and definitely knows what customer service is!
I locked my keys in my car at 1:00 am while at the gas station. Tiger Towing answered the phone while all of the supposed 24 hour locksmiths didn't. Bren arrived quickly and had my car open in 5 minutes while being incredibly respectful. And they only charged $50 for the 1:00 am service.
Dog locked us out of truck Alec was supper friendly on the phone and big john was there pretty quick and got us back on the road they were both very professional and nice people to deal with
Tiger towing was great. Didn't have to wait long, and they came properly prepared to load my motorcycle. Transport was without issue and the price was reasonable. Much appreciated.
I am from out of town and was in an accident in Columbia! Tiger towing took great care of me! Wesley was my tow truck driver and made a very scary and awful situation much easier and made me feel safe. I would recommend Tiger towing took great anyone in need!
I also had to wait on site until my husband could pick me up! The office staff was great and even took care of my scrapes from the accident! Kathie was so kind and helpful with everything I needed!
Quick and friendly service. Even offered to wait for my ride to pick me up after dropping off the vehicle. Hope not to need their help soon, but when I need a tow in como, I'll give them a call again.
We had a flat tire just off I70 in Columbia. Wesley was very prompt and professional in responding. Towed our car to Big "O" Tires. I would highly recommend using Tiger Towing. Wesley was great in helping us getting to the shop in a timely manner.
Called on a Sunday afternoon, they were able to come get me within an hour. Needing to get towed made me want to puke, but they took care of everything, super careful with my truck, Alex did a hell of a job and was a cool guy. Hope I never need another tow, but if I did I'd call these guys again.
I locked my keys in my truck this morning and called Tiger Towing. They sent over Shawn Young and he was great help! My truck was extra tricky because it was missing lock buttons but he was extremely persistent and patient!
i was out running errands when my car started overheating, so i called tiger towing and wesley came and towed my car home for me. i was told it would be about a 30-45 min wait and he showed up within about 20 min. he was so helpful and professional while also being kind and personable and having conversation with me. he truly made an upsetting situation not so bad at all. and on top of that the tow was way more affordable than i expected. i 10000% would recommend tiger towing, and if i’m ever in a situation like i was today i’ll be calling them again.

Just had an awesome experience with Tiger Towing. I called late in the day and they got me taken care of, despite the sun having gone down and it not being an emergency. Wesley went out of his way to maneuver the truck into the position we wanted, in the tightest and most hard-to-reach part of our driveway. He threw it in neutral and coasted it right in, made it look easy. Wesley had a great attitude and was a delight to work with. His expertise was definitely worth the hundred dollar tow. When it's time to haul that thing to the scrap yard, I'll be calling Tiger Towing again.
My transmission decided to go out 110miles from home and tiger towing really saved me. They took my car to the my dealership and got me home. They were professional and friendly and I didn’t have to wait long for them to show up. They were also less expensive than other companies in the area. The tow truck itself was also clean and comfortable to ride in. they are now my go to if anything happens again when I’m in the Columbia area.
He answered on the second ring and was quick to get information and get on the road to me after the assist he was already doing! Within 20-25 minutes of calling, my tire was fixed and I was ready to go again. Very cheap compared to so many other businesses in town. Super sweet and joked with me which made me feel better about the whole ordeal. Took less than 10 minutes from when he arrived to when my tire was fixed! Very very highly recommend to everyone!
Rusty went above and beyond to get my daughter’s car jump started and then following her to a parts store to insure she got the right replacement battery. He stayed in contact with me several times to keep me updated, and my daughter even texted me while they were installing the new battery to tell me how awesome he was. You can’t put a price on this type of service anymore, but it was very reasonable and well worth it. I hope she doesn’t have any future car troubles but Tiger Towing will definitely be who we call if she does.

I cannot convey just how difficult it is to get ahold of this company. I had to call repeatedly 6 times until I got to talk to an actual person. This was before I had to go through the merry-go-round of automatic voice messaging and 2 people police departments just to find their address & number! Then the first person I talked to said they closed at 4 pm rather than 5 pm the second person who answered stated, their actual closing time. Then when paying their fees, they don't inform you that there will be an additional charge based on payment type. They tend to ruin an individual's day wouldn't you say?

If I could give zero stars, I would. Based off of reviews I’ve read, sounds like Tiger Towing is too busy prowling for cars to tow than help people calling in for services (popped tire, car breakdowns, etc.) Boyfriend and I went to have a pizza after a LONG week, which includes being displaced from our home. We went to Gumby’s, next door to a Smoothie King. Smoothie King has some spots in the lot marked as belonging to their company. No biggie. But other spots are unmarked, which we assumed would belong to Gumby’s, which, I emphasize once again, is RIGHT next door. They share a parking lot. As we were eating, he noticed out the window that we were being towed, and quickly ran out to hail the driver and ask what was going on. He said the space we parked in belonged to Smoothie King, that he was just doing his job, but if we paid a fee of $100, he would stop. We paid, and they left with the car that was next to ours, also in an unmarked spot. Later, we were informed that there IS apparently a sign, BY THE DUMPSTER, which the outside of was stacked high with cardboard. This is a completely predatory practice that is nothing but money hungry, and if they want to enforce the backwards hoarding of a corporation, be my guest, but the fact stands that we were in an unmarked spot and therefore are not responsible for the misplacement of a sign reading a singular warning. A refund should be given in this case, and if you want to keep running a predatory business, maybe ask the lots you frequent to put up better signage so you can keep ripping us plebes off.
*Boyfriend asked me to add that if we hadn’t noticed the towing, we would have never guessed we had been towed because there was no sign where we parked. He would have assumed somebody had stolen his car. Rightfully so.
I blew 2 tires, my boyfriend was at work and wasn’t able to leave so I was panicking. I called tiger towing, the lady on the phone was very sweet. And I’m so sorry I didn’t catch her name, the lady who came to tow my car was very comforting and just absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for your service!
