Great experience! Shawn is outstanding. Great customer service! Very patient and helpful! He wouldn't even take a tip; he told us that was his job. Class act! Miss Cindy, the cashier, was great. Mr. Jay was extremely helpful and accommodating. I definitely recommend this place. A lot of the negative reviews are not about this store; they got the locations confused.
A week ago my husband and myself went to this establishment for the first time ever to look for him some work boots and walk around, since we have never been there before. Upon walking into the establishment there was one lady who came outside and welcomed us, and there was no other customers or employees there. We immediately went to the shoes and found the perfect pair of boots for him. We walked to the front of the store and sat them by the counter so we didn’t have to carry them around while looking. After 5 minutes of us walking the lady immediately started following us from isle to isle watching us closely, making us feel awkward and ready to leave. We walked back to the front and my husband noticed a man looking into the boots and box and the lady was totally rude and labeled us as thieves. I left the boots, they won’t get our business.
When it says salvage, it’s not lying. A lot of the lumber outside looked to be infested with termites ( choose wisely) they did offer a large selection but the prices don’t reflect what you’re getting.
From the price list, it’s not much different than Lowe’s or Home Depot but you know what you’re getting with those two.
A lot of broke and damaged items that were priced as if they were New in the store.
We did find a decent price on windows but that was about it.
Check it out before you plan to drive from any distance to purchase. We drove 1.5 hours and didn’t buy anything.
I do not know who the new manager is but two of three last times in there I have received terrible serve. I had to load my own stuff(not that I mind)but there was no direction of where things where. One time I was totally ignored and the guys loading help as much as they can, but most of the time they are short handed. Today they tried to sale me molded and rotten 2 x 4’s when they had good one towards the back and the manager refused to pull them to get me good ones. He said that the BIG BOSS said he could not pull them or cut the bundle during they had already cut one bundle for me and they was molded and rotten. They wanted me to put that in my new addition to house.
Bougt flooring here for $2 per box cheaper than home depot. Should have paid full price at home depot. Bought the flooring and the guy that loaded the flooring didnt know how to use the fork lift. Left 50 HEAVY boxes of flooring on the edge of the trailer cause "thats as far as it would go". Proceeded to put ONE plank in the bed of the truck and ended up not closing the cover correctly. The bed cover opened and dented the truck on the pole of the trailer. The manager got there and blamed it on us saying "how was he supposed to know he couldn't open the cover?" I was like.... umm....because the post is right there...common sense. He proceeded to say he was pissed like it was our fault told us to get an estimate and that he didnt want to do business with us again. We just said ok, got the estimate, and took it. All for nothing because he said the owner wasnt going to pay. This place is crap. Just pay full price cause these people will NOT help you if THEY do something wrong.
Love Salvage World Building supplies. The Manager Al deals fairly and there are great deals on quality supplies. We drive from the coast to do business with them and always bring a trailer load back. They really helped us with supplies for our complete remodel. Thanks to all the employees here.
Called wanting to buy pavers, asked the lady could they take a look and give me size of pavers? Like brick size 12x-12 anything. Ahh just look on Facebook or something like that she said. Gee thanks
I went specifically to buy Luan for my kitchen cabinet ends. The price was $9.99 a sheet, it was $29.99 at Lowe's. It was worth driving from Laurel to Hattiesburg.
Got shingles here and the price is perfect and every single worker there are very friendly!! Will be back again and recommend people to go there for just about everything for the home
A lot of these 5 star reviews are made by employees... if an employee has to leave a good review for the ratings to go up there is something very wrong with that business.
When I first drove into the yard I saw a lot of wood building supplies. I walked around and finally found the entrance to the warehouse. Then a store employee offered to help and he gave me the prices on the products I need. Their prices are substantially lower than the big box stores. My project does not require high end materials so I will buy from Salvage World.
Staff was friendly helpful responsive and quick to assist you with any of your needs. They practice social distancing, and did indeed wear masks. They have plenty of amazing products here! Thank you Salvage world for such a great experience!
The employees don't even ask if you need help we was there for an hour wanted to buy a few things but none of what we wanted had prices on it. We asked one guy for help he didn't come back. Needles to say salvage world in Hattiesburg lost all my business I'll pay home depot's prices before I go back to salvage world Building supplies.
It’s a steal “not a deal”, slogan is right! I found out the deck boards were about $7-$8 more at Lowe’s. So, I did get a deal. The ugly brown decking boards were cheaper at Lowe’s but I wanted gray boards that were $10 more. I would recommend you shop around to see what your deal is at Salvage World. You maybe surprised.
On 03/31, I purchased 380 fence boards and 48 2x4s. When I ran out halfway through putting up the fence, I thought my calculations must have been off. On 04/07, I purchased 144 more fence boards. Total number of fence boards purchased was 524 boards. I ran out again. I decided to count the fence boards and 2x4s that we had received from them. I received 41 2x4s (purchased 48)and 366 fence boards (purchased 524). The manager said that they came in bundles and he doesn't believe that the bundles were short that many and they must have blown off the trailer (security video shows they were tied down). He watched the video which shows the bundles being loaded (he couldnt tell how many)so he could just give me a percentage off of what more I have to buy. I'm fencing 190 ft. He stated I've already purchased enough to fence 260 ft. He has no explanation for the discrepancy but there's nothing he can do since boards were loaded, although he said there's no way to count what they loaded in the video. I Have to purchase 40 more to complete the job now. I should have only had to purchase 406 boards total. The total will now be 564 fence boards with 158 that I never received I do not recommend doing business with them.
