I woke up to a flat tire, dropped it off at Bob’s and got a call an hour later saying they were able to fit it in and it was ready to go. $30 for a repair which is about as good as it gets, especially considering the fast turnaround. I am ordering my next set of tires from here. Great service!
As a local, I used to frequent Bob’s a lot with great service. Today however, was different. On my way home from a hike I stopped in to have my lug nuts re-torqued. I had service done in Duluth a few days prior so they needed re-torquing. ( It’s a Subaru so I went to a place that specializes in them). The attendant was VERY unfriendly. He did the job, I thanked him and asked him if I owed anything. All he said was, very sarcastically as he walked away, was “get the tires here next time”. No “have a nice day”, or “no, we do that as a safety service”, nothing. So Nope! That’s not happening. I don’t know what has happened with this place but the customer service has gone down the drain. I’m very disappointed and sorry, Bob, I know you would not have acted this way , but I can’t bring myself to giving business to a place that treats ANYONE the way I was treated!
Had flat tire and a problem getting off the studs, but they gave a good suggestion to remove and it worked. VERY HELPFUL. I'd give them 10 stars for all their help.
We had a customer up north on vacation with her kids. She called stressed not knowing what to do re: a scary car sound. Bob and his staff to the rescue! They were booked out all week but took ten minutes to give her peace of mind that she would be safe driving with her kids. They have similar ethics as our shop - care about people and help when you can. Thanks again for being there Bob and company!

Had trailer bearing problems and nearly was stranded on the road. We limped 15 miles to the Wakemup Bay Boat launch and got the boat on the water and off the trailer. We had 4 days on the lake before we needed to get back on the road home. Everyone we called couldn’t help us unless we waited 4-6 weeks out! Bob didn’t promise a quick turnaround, but he did know how to fix it right, considering unknown damage.
Bob flat-bedded the trailer from the launch, had it fixed in 3 days! So grateful!Saved us from the extra costs of boat storage, travel back and forth to come back weeks later.
Can't recommend. Was traveling through to Ely and stopped to get low tire fixed. Attendant (can't remember his name) was rude and not helpful. Was not busy at all. No other customers--was just not interested in helping. Don't get a flat in Tower if you can help it.
I slid into a snow bank with a hidden drainage ditch. I called for a tow. They were on another call but called me back several times with updates. Soon he arrived. Very reassuring and competent driver that had me back on the road quickly. I recommend Bob’s service with no hesitation! The best I have ever had over my 70 years of driving.
We noticed our camper tire was flat. We talked to the park ranger. He recommended Bobs. We called him and he had the tire we needed. He was out to us within a half hour. Quick. Easy. Professional. So nice. Highly recommend!! They were a life saver!!!!!!
I hit a deer on my way to Ely for a mother daughter trip. I stopped on side of the road and car looked alright enough to carry on. I drove into Tower still a bit uneasy. Lucky for me they were open and we were able to stop here to make sure. They took a look and confirmed I was alright to continue on. The gentleman pulled the fog light out so I didn’t have it come loose and drive over it to cause a flat. He took the time to zip tie what he could down. He also confirmed the hood seemed sound. This settled my nerves enough for me to enjoy the rest of my trip to Ely. I am very thankful for this shop for keeping our weekend on track!
My wife had my 4Runner serviced while on holiday. Standard oil change and tire rotation. When I arrived on holiday I found my vehicle missing its engine skid plate, tires not rotated and 1/2 a quart low on oil.
When I stopped in to inquire on the location of my skid plate Bob himself told me that my vehicle came in missing its skid plate even though no one informed my wife or documented that the vehicle was missing a critical piece of factory equipment. What was noted on the bill was that the “lug nuts need re torqued after 500 miles” and the vehicle needed an alignment ASAP even though my tires were all in the same locations as before the service. Bob told me all about how skid plates rot away and fall off all the time, and that’s what happened to my 4 year old rig still under factory warranty with no previous issues with rust or vanishing skid plates. He even walked me into the service bay as he coached his guy through confirming his story while I had to remind him the make, model, year and finally color.
Bob is a real great guy alright, top notch service all the way. A real example of “Minnesota Nice” if you will...
I got impressive, fast, fair service at Bob’s Standard in Tower, Minnesota today. I was really stranded—so he could have charged me $300 for his help and I’d have had to pay it. Instead, he treated me like a daughter, and gave me an extremely fair price. Bob’s Standard is the BEST.
Excellent service. Friendly, knowledgeable, and had my tire replaced very fast. The shop was immaculate. Everything you could ask for from a retail service.
My battery was dead and I had to get back home about half an hour away. Bob's was so very fast, helpful, and friendly about getting us back up and running!
