We got a flat at black beach. We showed up and Basil stopped what he was doing to help us. Our tire was fixed and we were back on the road in 30 mins. So thankful for kind and helpful people.

My family and I were on Vacation, when I noticed my tire Valve Stem leaking on our Tahoe. Called J&H 10 minutes before they closed we got there 5 minutes after closing and they were willing To keep a staff member around to take care of our tire for us. They did a great and fast job had us back on the road in 30 minutes.

Coming home from Grand Marais, our motorhome got 2 flat tires. We called J&H Auto Repair and Towing to help us. They said it would be a 2 hour wait since they were busy. Landon showed up after an hour with the tow truck, and a big smile on his face. This is exactly what you want to see when you feel helpless and overwhelmed. Shortly Mike the owner also shows up to help. We got the motorhome to the shop, and Basil placed an order for 2 tires, unfortunately the tires wouldn't be arriving until the next day by 11:00 am. We were told that there is an area behind their business were we could stay with the motorhome. The next day by 11 the tires arrived, and we were back on the road by 1:00. The service and kindness we received made our experience so much easier!!!! Thank you Mike, Landon and Basil you are good people!

My alternator on my Toyota Camry decided to go out while I was on vacation and J&H was able to get my car in to replace it in a timely manner! Service was excellent. I definitely recommend them for your auto repairs!

I am extremely impressed since my last visit for service and management at J&H !! The new service manager Basil Mansheim was on it with coming within minutes when I said it was in the garage and wouldn’t start! Same day he found the problem gave me updates and was working with infinity closely! Called me 1.5 business days later and had it done !! He was professional, as were the mechanics! Northbound from S. Texas to Thunder Bay, we stalled south of Silver Bay, MN with a faulty ignition coil. I checked some places online and liked what I'd seen about J&H Towing/Auto Repair a couple of miles away. I spoke to Basil, who sent a tow truck promptly and Ken, the driver and a company mechanic, had us in their shop in no time. They were busy but Basil knew the important timeline of our return so, once Ken had quickly diagnosed the issue, Basil arranged for a contact in Duluth to pick up the available part in Two Harbors and bring it to the shop. Great service, skilled mechanics, clear communication with no surprises and totally fair pricing...what more do you want when you're stuck on the side of the road and don't know a soul? Thanks, guys; you made a concerning situation a lot better.

Incredible, responsive towing company. At 8:20 am March 12, 2025, I struck a deer in my rental vehicle on MN 61 near Silver Bay. I worked for an hour with my rental car company’s urgent assistance center (which was located overseas) and got no towing or onward transportation assistance from them. I called the highway patrol who got me Mike Johnson from JH. he towed the car to his shop where he kindly let me try to work with the rental company to get transport to the Duluth airport for my outbound flight. When Mike saw I was getting nowhere with the rental company, he called the airport rental desk and arranged for him to tow the car to Duluth and drop me at the airport. I was relieved and grateful for the great service from Mike.

These guys are AWESOME!!! We ended up having a starter issue on the morning of the day we were supposed to leave for home. I called these guys, and they took care of everything - timely and reasonably priced! I would recommend these guys to anyone having an issue with their vehicle on the North Shore. Thank you!

The shop got me in last minute while on my solo camping trip. Service price was reasonable and they came and picked me up when done with my repair. Greatly appreciate your service and communication.

Tow truck driver came some distance late in his day to pick up a mystery nonstarter. He was friendly and down to earth. The mechanic put in extra effort to get to the bottom of the issue, order the part, and complete the repair before I needed the vehicle to get home from vacation. I highly recommend this garage and towing company.

Cannot thank them enough. Came from Minneapolis to de stress and my car broke down. These people were so incredibly nice and helpful. They even tolerated my 2 dogs. They towed me and They repaired my car so quickly. They showed me the issue before they fixed it. I wish I had mechanics like this down in the cities. After I had an unsuccessful, unfriendly encounter at another shop, J&H removed an enormous nail and repaired my tire. Fast service; guy was very friendly.

I broke down from out of town and was able to basically limp there and park until they opened. Once they had the opportunity, they took a look and diagnosed the problem. However, parts were not available in this area and would take too long to get it. Being from out of town, I was not willing to wait, so I was able to get AAA to tow me to Duluth to get it serviced and on the road again.

Our alternator belt broke. Ken at J&H was amazing, he squeezed us in so we could get back to home base further north and then home the next day. For a bummer of a situation we sure lucked out and are glad we brought our car here.

Amazing service! Brad went above and beyond after I got stuck on the side of the road, after a speedy tow job he was able to help fix a problem with my gear shifter cord that came on after I got stuck. His fast, careful, and expertise was able to quickly get be back on the road! I recommend using J&H, thank you Brad!

#1 - I had a nail in my tire, and stopped in town to get it repaired at J&H. The shop owner, Mike, was super friendly, and his guys got it fixed fast at a fair price. #2 - Had an electrical issue with my 2016 4Runner, and needed a tow & repair. The tow driver was friendly, punctual, and a great communicator. The shop owner was able to replace the bolt-in fuse (tricky!), troubleshoot a few others, and get me back on the road at a very reasonable price. Good People + Great Service = Would Recommend

Came out of the BWCA after 8 days and the battery was dead. We were way out in the woods and were luckily able to get phone reception from time to time. We got hold of J&H who came all the way out to where we were and jumped our car. He was such a nice guy and I can't tell you how much we appreciate what he did for us.

We showed up midday in our camper van with a horrible grinding noise coming from the rear. These guys stopped everything and had her up on a lift in their lot in about 5 min. Gave us an honest diagnosis (Brake dust cover and a minor tear in the axle seal) and sent us on our way without charging a dime. We were able to make it home to MA no problem. Even got to hang out with the cutest mini-aussie, Rooster. Great guys and great service.

Had our breaks done at a different place, that place had messed them up and we ended up with messed up brakes and a flat tire. J&H fixed our brakes in a quick and timely manner and also have very kind staff! Priced very reasonably for the quality of work they do! Got us back on the road on the same day and saved us from being stranded 3 hours from home!

My family and I got stranded late on a Saturday night at Split Rock Light House and J&H were able to jump our car when no one else could…. And saved us a huge expense on towing…. We are so grateful with the professionalism and how they went out of their way to help us to get home!

We stopped in at J and H after finding a screw in our tire while on vacation. They were able to immediately help us and take a load of stress off of our shoulders. We also had a bad battery when we stopped in. They didn't have the exact battery we needed but were able to direct us to a shop in Two Harbors. Everyone at the shop was very friendly and super helpful!

Contacted them at 11:48 am regarding an oil change as I was traveling through the area. I told employee that I had the correct filter in case they didn’t. Appointment made for 2-2:30 and I waited in nearby parking lot. 40 minutes before appt. They called and said they couldn’t do it today and wanted to reschedule. I explained I was unable due to having travel schedule. Come on, how long can it take to drain oil, change filter and refill with new oil? 15 minutes? Thanks for wasting my time!

We were from out of town, about 6 hours/400 miles away from home, on our way back from northern Minnesota. My car is not really made well for gravel roads and got a rock stuck up somewhere that was causing a terrible grinding and scraping sound. We decided to stop here on a whim not wanting to continue much further and we had few options being in an unfamiliar area. Everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful, they had us back on the road in less than 30 minutes, hardly lost any time and even offered to not charge us. Would definitely go back again if it wasn’t 6 hours away from where I live.

First class repair shop!!! Mike the owner is awesome!! Dropped everything to fix our DR brush mower. Highly recommend if you're in need of a great mechanic!!

Mike went above and beyond when we were standard 60 miles from our destination oh and it was 730pm and getting dark ! Towed our bike and worked on it for 2 hours !!!!! He was able to get us up and running and back on the road ! Great professional service and quality work, determination and a kind soul!!
