Got our truck and travel trailer towed from the gas station to Don's after it wouldn't start. Got lucky with an open campsite nearby. He had us back on the road the next morning with an easy fix.
Don handled my son’s junked SUV. I needed the plates to get my registration fee reimbursed. Don answered promptly and my plates were in the mail and at my house the next day. I wish his business was located where I live!
If you need to get your vehicle repaired this is the place to go. Without a doubt! Don seems to know about everything. There is to know about cars and trucks and if he doesn't know he will find out.
They're always busy. Make sure to make appointments! Great people, very knowledgeable, and top-notch service. There's nowhere else in the area I'd rather bring my vehicles to.
Stopped there after driving 30 miles out of my way because I was concerned my old pickup would leave me stranded. The check engine light was on. Got to Don’s, gassed up, then went into the station and asked if he could help me with a scan. Owner told me he wouldn’t scan it for 2-3 weeks, because “so many people were ahead of me.” No one was at his gas pumps. He wasn’t working in the shop. He was standing behind the counter. And in the time he rattled on about how busy he was, he could have scanned the truck and charged me a reasonable price (I never asked for free).
Do not depend upon fair treatment here.
Was staying in Finland for the week and had a flat tire one day. Brought my tire up for a patch, and $20 bucks later I was back on the road. Very happy there was a trustworthy place to go when I was in an unknown place.
Don took my call on a nice Sunday afternoon to tow my Yukon after I went in the ditch. I appreciate the help with a vehicle that was not driveable.

Guys got stuck on an incline pulling a trailer. Don was there within 10 minutes of our phone call, and pulled them out. Highly recommend calling Dons Auto!
Broke down called the place of business they were to me quickly and helped me find a hotel nearby and gave me a ride to and from the hotel. Very friendly and good service
Don was phenomenal. We drove in with a grinding and he was able to immediately assess the need and fix it for us right away. We would have been absolutely sunk without him!
Don is the man! After AAA failed to pick us up (minor battery issue) waited over 3hrs to find out they weren’t coming. Called Don at 8pm on a Sunday - he picked us up within 30min and dropped us (and all our camping gear) at the campground while he took the vehicle to his shop. Fixed and back on the road by 8:30am.
Our truck broke down while pulling our camper on Labor Day. We were able to limp into Silver Bay. Although his shop was not open, he answered our call of desperation. Don drove us to Duluth to so we could rent vehicle. He took our camper to his house and plugged in fridge so we would not lose our food, took our truck to his shop. Had vehicle repaired in a couple days at a very reasonable price. Don is a handshake is my word kind-of-a-guy.
Our dog locked us out of our truck while camping, Don was on his way as soon as we called and arrived within 20 min, affordable, quick and personable, thanks for getting us out of a bind!
Our car’s cv axle tore apart at the co-op next door at about 0900. Don towed us over, sent a guy to Two Harbors for the part, and had us out of there by 1115. $268 for drive time, labor, and parts.
I can not gush enough about the quality of person Don is and that absolutely carries over to his auto repair company. True Minnesotan.
Really Excellent repair services. I was very surprised because I really had no choice and I hate finding out the quality of a place by the luck of the draw. Don is so good, I am bringing my car to him every year now.
