I understand why my car was towed. My problems with this place stem from the utter incompetence, along with the woman at the front desk who greeted my friend and me with, "If you're going to come in here looking like that, you can wait outside." That is way out of line and not how you speak to a customer. First order of business: Pete's Towing and Recovery is just your average Scooby Doo villain with a mask on (on Google Maps). This place operates as Corky's Towing, Metro W.S.I., and of course, the name you are currently seeing—Pete's Towing. The business model seems to be to rack up a bunch of negative reviews, delete the listing on maps, create a new listing, rinse, and repeat. This "scam center" has been around for almost a decade, but the last time they performed this cycle seems to be less than a year ago. In 2018, an inexperienced tow truck driver hooked up the car via its inner tie rod instead of the axle and bent it. When I picked my car up from the impound lot, my front wheels went in opposite directions, forcing my car to swerve off the road and into a ditch. Thanks to a quick-thinking state trooper who was directly behind me and turned on her lights, I avoided a collision. My car was towed to Toyota AGAIN. When Toyota inspected it, they said that my inner tie rod needed to be replaced and the wheels had to be aligned. I sued them and left them a scathing review (under the name Corky's Towing) detailing the damages they had dealt to my car. It is filed in Minnesota Court Records Online (MCRO) under Case Number 27-CO-18-10284. So why am I talking about this now, in July 2025? Well, gang, in typical Scooby Doo villain fashion, these pesky sewer rats have struck again! They towed my car and damaged it, this time under the name Metro W.S.I. (aka Pete's Towing). This time, it appears they have figured out the difference between a tie rod and an axle, but they still managed to mess up the car's alignment. Also, for a company that tells reviewers to "take responsibility for improperly parking," they could probably do the same. A quick records check on the State of Minnesota Website reveals they attempted to dispute one of their vehicles being towed and, in typical Corky's/Metro W.S.I./Pete's fashion, failed to show up to court. I've attached a screenshot for proof. Legally, these clowns take L after L because they know they are in the wrong, and so they don't show up to court. They are morally bankrupt schemers that go about ruining people's day and ironically refusing to take accountability for their actions.

Pete’s Towing and Recovery is a joke to say the least. They have consistently changed their company name due to an overwhelming amount of bad reviews and, you guessed it, lawsuits. Metro WSI, Pete’s Towing and Recovery and Corky’s Towing (all the same company) doesn’t care about you or your vehicle. They will damage your car and claim that the damages were pre-existing. They will refuse to show proof (video, photos, etc) of these said previous damages. When you request to fill out a damage claim, they will make a big deal out of it and huff and puff. The customer service is non-existent. They treat you like an inconvenience for coming to get your car. Mind you, my car was towed within 2 hours of me visiting a friend and parking in the lot without a visitor’s pass (something we both were unaware was needed). I don’t ever write reviews, but my god this place and the staff are horrendous. I highly recommend taking pictures of everything and recording your conversations when you go. Also, don’t mention that you will be taking them to small claims court for the damages or else they will call you “sue happy” and continue to be outrageously rude. Mind you, before the case is heard by a judge, they are legally required to show any and all evidence they claim they have of previous damages. Best wishes to those who have to deal with this company. You don’t have to be a victim, take them to small claims court, collect evidence and demand to see the evidence they claim to have. You deserve better.

Beware of their predatory drivers. Do not call these people. They contract with Aaa, and will do everything but provide emergency roadside assistance. Bullies, sexist, not helpful in an emergency situation. They literally try to sell you a new battery when you’re in the middle of an emergency situation. Aaa should not contract with these people.

John from Lynch got my semi moving after being stuck in heavy snow. Awesome job.

This outfit is absolutely abhorrent and they are predators. We disputed their accusation our ticket was not on the dash after it was clearly placed there. When asked for proof they flashed a photo and would not let us see it and proceeded to tell us we could not have our vehicle. We called the police and they were able to help us retrieve our vehicle after paying the fee. They also put in their remarks there was extensive damage on our vehicle including scratches and dents on the hood and doors and our car has none of that....it's brand new. Total scammers. The rudeness, disrespect, and unwillingness to listen is beyond. I realize they are not interested in retaining customers so service is not important. Four staff members all had the same aggressive, accusatory attitude and they are bad agents. DO NOT park in Metro lots anywhere in the metro. Will be reporting to the authorities seeing as many have had the same exp with WSI and Pete's. And, we do take responsibility for our actions, so no need to provide the same, asinine reply, and look in the mirror.

paid for parking, towed within posted hours(so, fraudulently), called about it and was told they basically didnt care if i paid and had no way of knowing if i did or didnt, and that i would have to pay around $350 for the fact that they already had towed my car fraudulently. when i tried to pay my debit card company had them marked as fraud, and this was so normal to them that they already knew before even attempting that i would have to verify with my card company that i was actually paying the outrageous sum intentionally. despite my car having been parked (and then impounded) for less than 3 hours, they had already impounded enough cars before i got there that they had to move several cars out of the way for me to even be able to get to my car, let alone driving off. this is a pretty clear indication that they are towing anything and everything they physically can, and with their admission of guilt on the call (of them not having any way of knowing if i did or didnt pay for parking, and them not caring) it paints a clear picture of an intentionally fraudulent company. elsewhere in the reviews others mention similar to me, that they got towed despite paying for parking, and the owner responses are beyond the pale in terms of how unprofessional and willingly "neglectful" they are. if you as well have had your car stolen by these individuals, you can do a fraud claim with your credit card company, i know mine says that they already have the company earmarked I hope that these people try to settle this with me in court, i would love to have more legal attention on their practices, and i would love to see them suffer penalties for all the obvious counts of fraud that have occurred :) Edit: RE: "Pete's Towing did not tow your car...yet u write a review...take responsibility for your actions...and have a good day" nice response jackwagon, maybe you didnt learn how to read to see the part where i did, in fact, take responsibility for my actions, lol have you tried taking responsibility for yours rather than telling everyone that they're stupid for linking together the fact that you share the address with the company that charges and tows fraudulently, the fact that you do contracts with them, and the fact that they dont have a separate google location? if everyone agrees that youre the problem, and people have proof that they did nothing wrong, maybe you should try doing some self examination rather than trying for a snarky reply :)

WSI towed us from an unclearly marked towing zone in a parking lot outside of a CLOSED business after barely being there for two hours. Damaged the front bumper on our rental car. Charged us a midnight fee despite picking up the car same day by 11:15pm. Why doesn’t WSI exist on google maps? Pete’s should go after them tbh because they’re getting a bad name due to another company

They are rude and simply aggressive when you try to retrieve your vehicle. Even threaten to not allow you to retrieve it. Customer service is slow while you wait in a freezing tiny lobby and they want to keep your vehicle for more money.

Real mature, maybe you shouldn’t write everything you feel on the internet. Not professional for a business. Oh I see this place has lots of outstanding reviews already. Way to go.

Wsi is giving Pete's a bad name because they use the same lot there is no way to leave a review for WSI. WSI tow truck driver told me he could only accept cash $100 and then when I talked to the person in the lot they said they were surprised the tow truck driver didn't take my credit card. Then said that they probably just didn't want to drop it. It's bad that the WSI company is giving petes and the other companies that work out of the same lot such a poor reputation.

Metro WSI vehicle driven by Shane blocked me in while preparing to tow a different vehicle. When I politely asked Shane to move the tow truck so I could drive my own vehicle out, he rudely told me he'd be done if I'd quit bothering him. When I called dispatch, they said "Shane" owns Pete's Towing which is subcontracted by Metro WSI and basically they didn't care. I was promised a call back from a manager that I didn't get. I asked dispatch later if I would get that call back and they said managers come and go as they please and they have a lot of customer calls (I bet) and it wasn't important. Basic courtesy costs nothing and every single person I interacted with around this was rude, antagonistic, and totally unhelpful. I can't imagine anyone electively working with this company. I'm worried to even park my car in that neighborhood again out of fear of retaliation. Just an awful experience when all I did was get blocked in by them and ask to get let out, I had nothing to do with the tow.

Typical rat towing company. Kickbacks and the like. Wonderfully ghetto location too, and based on how the owner is responding to reviews here, he's a byproduct of those parts of the cities too! ;)

This business is at least partially a scam verging on organized crime. They seem to give kickbacks to seedy lot owners to tow vehicles that have paid for parking and hold their cars ransom for $140. EDIT: In response to the owner, your business is located at the same place as Metro WSI, there are photos of Metro WSI trucks on this listing, and Metro WSI has been warned by the city in the past about inappropriate relationships (read: operating as fronts) with other towing companies that share their address in the past.

The worst company. Towed my friend's car out of a restaurant parking lot....while we were eating at that restaurant. Refused to refund even when the restaurant called.

Very rude staff, after paying to get my car back I found out my car was parked in behind other cars and there was no one available to free it. Asked multiple times how long it would be with the only answer being "I don't know they'll get here at some point"

Go anywhere but here to have your vehicle towed! Caused $900 worth of damage to my car. Bent the stabilizer link, inner tire rod, and outer tire rod. Told me they would call me back on 10 separate occasions when I would call about the damage, it has now been 6 months and they never called back once. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Worst tow company in Minneapolis, if you want your car damaged and for them to ignore you, this is the place to call.

When we called to locate the vehicle, we were told to pay in cash - so we went to the ATM to pay for the towing. Once we arrived, we were told they had no change. Who only takes cash without offering change? Or informing us beforehand that they only accepted EXACT change? Seems like they're not reporting all their earnings to the government. The owner also refused to return my car when I took photos and videos of the towing property. On a final note - I found two identical dings on the hood of my car, which I pointed out to the man who towed the car. He replied that he only worked on the car from below, and that they had taken photos of my car. However, the photos were taken in the impound lot, AFTER it had already been towed. Just another BMW they've damaged.
