My family and I went here before when it was skips and we were skeptical at first, but not anymore, I Definitely recommend. My mom brought her car in for an Oil change and I brought my car in for an oil change and new brakes. They work with you give you a list of things that are due and give you an option to approve or decline work you want done. And what you approve you want done they get the job done well. Will be bringing my car back for future maintenance as needed and so will my mom.
Went in for an leak, and they found a good handful of things wrong with my car, was skeptical at first, but they provided photos for each thing wrong. Everyone was very nice and Explained the solution and the problem without over explaining it or under explaining it 10/10 definitely recommend
Good at communicating had knowledge of stuff I was asking provided statements and pictures of recommendations sent to me right away on my email very friendly thank you
After multiple visits, all lf which had issues, I refuse to use this place again.
Previous visit. Had suspension part replaced, was outside waiting, heard and saw the test driver redlining every shift and dogging the engine. Thinking nobody was around to see them abusing my sports car.
Last time, different car, should have learned lesson. Had original wheel locks on vehicle.
Shop called looking for a tire wheel lock key. Which I told them at least FIVE times. The key was in the glovebox. They said couldnt find the key. Proceeded to cut the wheel lock off.
Driving car later, I open the glove box and the key is sitting rigtht in the glove box. Right were I said it was.
Called back with a 'what the heck' questions on why lock was cut. No apologies. No refund for them cutting off lock that had the lock inside the car.
Horrible, do NOT bring any vehicle to this place. They do not respect your property and obviosuly are so incompetent that they cannot recoginze a simple thing like a wheel lock key.
ANYPLACE, ANYWHERE IS BETTER. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. USE THIS PLACE AT YOUR OWN RISK. - STARS IF POSSIBLE.
SOME PLACES DO NOT DESERVE TO STAY IN BUSINESSS. HOPEFULLY A CLOSED SIGN APPEARS SOON ON THIS SHOP AND PEOPLE CAN FIND GOOD REPAIR SERVICES SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Been going to Skip’s for years. I was skeptical about the new ownership; not as much anymore, but time will tell. I tried a different place and endt up just having it towed to GVT after an unprofessional experience. They solved just the necessary problem, as would skips. I plan to use this place from here out as my best known option. Haven’t gotten repairs in awhile. I think the price here is close to about as good as it gets these days.
I looked at it kind of as everything is getting homogenized these days, but some places really are kite professional than others. They’ll still show you recommended repairs, which is probably a good thing overall, but keep the choice in your hands (you check the box of the recommended services you’d like them to do, and check “decline” if you don’t). It is what it is - straightforward.
I deleted my past review. I haven't been back since they got swallowed by the chain. I personally need to trust the people I take my car to and I had that at Skips. By seeing what looks like fake reviews (many new 5 star reviews since being purchased by the chain) that look more like paid AI advertising.And they no longer install customer parts which was a great benefit for those who don't want to get upcharged for "premium" parts Just paying for their labor was a huge plus. R.I.P SKIPS AUTO.
I have taken my cars to Skip's for the last 30+ years - even when i lived in s. Mpls and, the last 25 yrs, in Maple Grove - and have a heavy heart today, 1/2/26, having just found out that they are no longer under the same ownership - Skip, Davey, and family. Always friendly, honest, reasonably priced, excellent technicians, and always backed up their work if a problem persisted. I hope these traits will be maintained by new ownership and respect the honorable legacy that Skip, Davey, et al have built. I thank you for your guidance and friendship over that time and wish you all well!!
The Guys at Skips (recently acquired by Golden Vally Tire) were friendly, polite and knowledgeable. The oil change on my vehicle was done in a timely manner. Prices are reasonable. They are remodeling the front customer area , it should be a great functional space when complete ! I will definitely go back when I am in need of auto repairs. I have been to GVT in Golden Valley several times and they have always given me great service . Skips will be a great addition to the Golden Valley Tire team .
My vehicle was leaking antifreeze near the back passenger tire. I brought it to Skip's and they found some larger leaks in rear coolant hoses. They did put new clamps on in back and that leak has stopped. Now I have a smaller leak from radiator, and with my vehicle being a 2007 and high in milage I decided not to put in a new radiator. I gave them a 4 star rating only do to the fact they did initial fluid level check on entire vehicle, but neglected to put back on my Brake Master Cylinder cap. I opened my hood a day or two later to check on coolant level and found that was missing. When I called they said they would replace it, no charge.
Purchased by a chain (GVT) in October 2025, my first time bringing my car there since then did not go well so won’t be back despite being a longtime customer of Skip’s.
Edit to add: seems like they are having people leave fake reviews, see these screenshots. If Juno had had previously been to two other locations of GVT, why would they have concerns, and why is JJ going to three different auto shops from the same chain in one month and leaving reviews.
They were super helpful and helped decide what was necessary and what could wait based on my budget. Those who were working on my car were super helpful and kept me up to date on what was happening.
Everyone else was super kind as well while I was waiting.
We took our car in for an oil change. When we picked it up there wasn’t a sticker in the window letting us know we got an oil change or when we needed our next one. We also had a check engine light on when we picked it up, that wasn’t on when we dropped it off. Just so you know it is not skips anymore, it is now GVT.
I stopped at Skip's to get a few basic things done - oil change, rotate, etc. After they did the initial inspection, they went over some things that I should take care of in the near future, but I didn't feel pressured to have the work done right away, or like they were trying to meet a sales quota for the week and upsell me on things I didn't need. Because of this, it actually made me want to come back down the road to do those repairs at Skips and like I can trust them to do the bigger repairs if/when those happen.
They gave me a quick quote for everything and I didn't even have sticker-shock which I'm used to at most places. Everything was finished in the time-frame they gave me. No complaints!
Overall great customer service, reasonable pricing. Will definitely be back!
I was initially impressed with your service. Despite an increase in my estimated repairs of more than $50, I was comfortable with your explanation and really appreciate your recommendation to immediately replace the front passenger side tire - which I did on the same day. However, after experiencing a shaking in my car after tire replacement and emailing you (including 2 attachments or the recording of the shaking), I received no reply. Yesterday, the front drivers side tire blew on the road - causing serious damage to my car. This was NOT a part of our discussion. Had I been made aware of the possibility (an email reply), I would have dealt with this issue - this voided the damage and near road catastrophe.
My experience with this shop on multiple occasions has been great. They are kind, HONEST, do good work in a timely manner and are very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend them.
I have been a customer of Skip's Auto for at least 5 years now. I was in yesterday because my car had several codes come on while driving a few days ago (though when I went in they weren't on anymore) and I also thought my coolant was leaking because it was low in the reservoir. They looked at my car for two hours, taking things apart to check for leaks, etc and couldn't find any specific problem to fix because the codes weren't on. They didn't charge me to look at my car even though I said I was happy to pay for their time. This is why I continue to do business with Skip's Auto! When my codes come back on, I'll be back.
I went to Skip's for the first time about a month ago. They were fantastic!! I had a few things wrong with my car but am on a budget, so let them know that my priority was my front brakes. I dropped it off at 7am and they called within just a few hours to give me an estimate. They talked to me about a few different things they found wrong and told me which things I should get done immediately and which could wait. SO helpful for me!! I told them what I could afford to fix and they had it ready to go by the end of that day!! I will 100% go back soon to Skip's to get the other things taken care of. Friendly staff, courteous, super fast, and affordable! I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Skip's is a shop that genuinely cares about it's clients, is upfront about costs and recommendations for services while taking into account your budget needs. They are efficient and accurate with diagnostics and get my car back to me as fast as possible every time. I will continue to recommend Skip's again and again. Skips Auto Repair was where my parents took their cars when I was growing up. The name is synonymous with quality service for a fair price to me. Price gouging or having my lack of knowledge about cars taken advantage of have never been a concern of mine. On the rare occasion when my repair wasn't an immediate success their team went above and beyond making it right as quickly as possible. I really appreciate everything their staff has done for me over the years.

They replace the engine in my vehicle and it run very good. I would strongly recommend skip’s auto they got the job done fast and for a great price and the Customer service was wonderful.
