Absolutely awful company. Trust me when I say you’re better off choosing any other tow company you can find on Google. I had my Ford Explorer towed from a shop in Prior Lake to my home in Ramsey, which is only 42 miles yet they charged me $620. They lied about the price up front and the driver was unable to give me breakdown of it at drop off. They 100% make up the price to whatever they want. I just got out of the Marines after 6 years and have had my car shipped between Camp Pendleton California and Minnesota multiple times for a similar price, and that is 2000 miles. They suck to talk to over the phone, the driver took 2 hours longer than he said he would, and when he finally got to my city he went to the wrong address. When the driver did finally get here it took him 6 try’s to finally back into my driveway. I have never been more disgusted with a company in my life, and will not be removing this review unless they partially reimburse me. Any other company would have only been $200-$300. Stay away at all costs.
The towing aspect of the trip was great. However while on the phone it may be a good idea to mention the Unloaded Charge that is more than the actual Loaded Charge in my guess. I have never received this type of charge with other companies, so I was not aware to ask, I will in the future however. I understand we all need to make money, but insurance doesn't cover Unloaded Mileage. I'm guessing this is a flat $150 rate to just show up, regardless of how far away you are. I'll know to ask next time.
They got back to me faster than the other towing companies I called and it was a very busy day due to the weather. I guess that can be good and bad depending on how you look at it. I had an awfully high towing bill for a towing company with the word "Discount" in the title. Yes, it was a busy day but...210 dollars to go 6 miles? I just feel like that is extremely high. I will probably never call them again if I ever need a tow because I feel like I was kind of screwed on that deal.
This was the worst part of my car accident. Did not understand my clear instructions that I was on top of the parking garage, demanded I help with setting up the tow instead of asking (had no clue what I was doing). Got in his car, it smelled and was absolutely packed with garbage with nowhere for me to sit. He did not secure my bumper so it fell off and potentially did more damage to it. Did not watch the road while driving, we were all over the place and I thought I was about to get in another accident. He answered the phone and was totally distracted while driving- we stopped mid intersection since he could not drive and talk. I hesitated to write this but honestly this was insane and scary. To top it all off, charged $200 plus tip for less than 2 miles of towing.
Called to get quote yesterday from a couple of places to get an idea on the going rate of tows. He was cocky when I said I'd call him back if I needed the tow with a sly remarks. If his customer service is that bad on asking about a quote I can only imagine how bad the rest of his business is. Found someone for $25 cheaper and was very happy with their service. Hopefully this guy learns his customers are his lively hood and not the other way around! Don't use this "big shot"!
As an out of towner, I found myself in Minneapolis with a dead battery during my visit week of Sept 15th 2023. I called Discount Auto Towing and a friendly voice picked up the phone and showed up exactly when he said he would be there. He got me going within minutes and waited around to see that the battery would not die again on me. This is what I call "service with a smile". Thank you Discount Auto Towing. Quick call and they got to my car in 20 minutes like they told me and helped me very much with understanding the situation on the way getting my car to the dealership and educated me on how to deal with the insurance for a break in to my vehicle. Exceptional service and really good guy who did everything to help me out!!
The guy came in good time (30 mins), really nice guy. My only complaint was that he charged me $130 extra for having to help me push my car out my apartments garage because his truck wouldn't fit. Did not know the clearance and he didn't even try to see if it would fit. It took 10 extra mins to push the car out the garage and I had another person help so I don't think it was fair that he charged me that much.
I had my vehicle towed by them last night. The service was quick and friendly, and I was looking forward to leaving them a 5 star review this morning.
But, there is a problem. Instead of leaving our key in the night drop box of the shop we had it towed to, they instead hid the key inside the gas cap door and locked the car.
The only way to open the gas cap door is from inside the locked car. I now have to spend $330+ on a replacement key fob for the car to get into it, and also have further delay on getting it fixed. Now I am leaving a one star review and feeling pretty bad about it.
Edit: they sent a guy out to unlock the car and lo and behold the key was actually in the door to the charging port and they were able to retrieve it without breaking into the car...upping the review to three stars to reflect helping them fix the issue
They helped and was very quick. Just bummed it was spendy to send someone and fix a tire.
Good service but its not poor folk friendly. Would recommend if you have 150+ you can spend. Otherwise good stuff.

Really grateful - when I called discount auto towing, a HUMAN picked up the phone PROMPTLY after I tried a few other so-called 24 hour roadside assistance places and waited on too many holds
The dispatcher sent someone immediately and provided a 20 min ETA (ofc this estimate is completely situational). ~15 min in my colleague managed to help me change a flat. I felt bad, knowing someone was just a few minutes away, but the dispatcher didn't make me feel bad when I called to cancel. I know time is money so, I wanted to leave a review of my positive experience 👍
They towed my Tesla through State Farm roadside assistance due to a flat tire. They knew what they were going as electric cars need special consideration when towing.

He was very nice and helpful. He got our car unlocked within 5 minutes and he followed us back to our house to drop off our car which didn’t take long at all! He said he would be there in 25 minutes and it only took him 20! Will definitely be using his services again!
While towing the Sienna, the wheel lift of the tow truck damaged the next car (Lexus RX350). Please see the photos. He wouldn't resolve the issue and wouldn't give out his auto insurance information, either. Do I need to call police?
Update: I called them per their response below. Was told I'd get some refund to my card. It's been two weeks and nothing has been refunded.
Original post: This past weekend I needed a tow of about 3 miles max to my home. They got there in a reasonable amount of time. But the amount of time it took to load my car was crazy. I've had a decent amount of tows in my life (sports cars), and this was well beyond double the time. In my head, I'm under 3 miles from home so the charges couldn't be that bad. I've had much longer distances, during late nights on weekends, and the charges were $150-195. When we got home, before he'd unload my car, he presented me with a bill of $385+/-. I was shocked, immediately said that price is crazy. He said he'd take off the credit card fee and dropped it to $360. I said that's still an obscene price. But he wouldn't budge. I said why is it so high, he said the hook-up charge is $250. Absolute ripoff. Their name is "Discount Auto Towing". Their name should be Ripoff Auto Towing. Never again. I'll will let my car friends know about this (I'm a car guy).
Was told one mile = $5-$7 for the tow, which sums up to 20 miles and that was $140. Before the day of towing, I called them to check on the prices and fees they charged. They ONLY told me about the mileage fee. As soon as I asked them if there was anything else I should be worrying about like fees and all, the caller said no that’s it so I thought this business would be well. As soon as I called in for them to come pick it up and drop off to another location, I asked them AGAIN about the fees and all. The driver ONLY mentioned about the mileage fee. That’s it. I asked him again if that’s it so I don’t need to worry about nothing else. He replied with an okay. My vehicle was parked in the back alley and dropped off at another alley. Then all of a sudden, it was $370 which is insanely expensive. I Was confused and asked why is it so expensive and told him again that it was only mileage fee correct. He went on and said “since I picked your vehicle from the back alley and dropped it off at another alley, it cost that much, plus tax which is $40.” I replied “wait I thought that you only went for 20 miles which that sums up to $140. What about the rest?” He then replied with “it’s an “alley” fee.” The “alley” fee was $195. I recalled him not mentioniNg ANYTHING about an “alley” fee. I recalled asking him about any other fees when he arrived to the pick up spot. My father and I was frustrated and called the company to talk to them about the payment. They picked up and asked to call us later because the caller was driving so I was fine with that. He called me and talked to me about it. I explained everything to him. He said “I’ll give you guys a $30 refund.” Why $30 only? I don’t know why would he only refund $30.75, but he never refunded my money as well.
I couldn’t recommend discount towing enough. My fuel pump went out and they came to my rescue at 2am downtown on a holiday. They even towed it to their shop for me and fixed it the next day. They were so kind and professional. I couldn’t believe the price either. It would of easily been double somewhere else.
These guys are amazing! They take such great care of me & my vehichle. Always on time and efficient. Very trustworthy and reliable company. Their prices can't be beat and they are worth every penny. Definitely my go to towing/car shop.
Excellent service! I called around midnight to have a flat tire changed. They were very quick (about 25 minutes to get to me) and professional! I had called about ten places before them and either got voicemail or was told no one was available. The one other place that could come would have taken 90 minutes and was about $50 more expensive.
Unfortunately I had an awful experience. After calling to ask if they could jump my car as I ran out of gas saying that I *thought* my battery had died, they were unable to get it started. They said it would be $99 for the jump. After it would not start they said they would need to tow it and charged an additional $150 plus mileage totaling $261.
WHAT A JOKE.
The next morning the dealership was able to get the car started with no problems. Very taken advantage of in a vulnerable situation. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND!
They showed up in a timely manner... considering the owner had to call me back at the time he was suppose to meet me and ask for the address again🤦🏻♂️.Showed up 15min later. He (the owner) is also a horrendous driver and a very rude individual! Travis on the other hand was very respectful and knew what he was doing when it came to hooking up my vehicle and instructing the driver (the owner) on not destroying it! I would definitely recommend requesting Travis! Also tell him to leave the owner at the shop...
This company is awesome!! Had a tire blow on a trailer full of product, called Discount and within 30 minutes they were there. Because the trailer had new product on it much more difficult to deal with. Within 30 minutes on the trailer and headed to my warehouse. I strongly recommend this company.... Travis was the driver and he was very knowledgeable!

They arrived within a half hour to tow my daughter’s car.
The people were helpful, kind and knowledgeable.
I hope to never need another tow but if I do Discount is the service I will use and will refer anyone I know to them!
