What clients say about West Side Motors in Eden Prairie (MN)

Rarely have I done business with someone who is actually willing to lie and cheat their customers (even a working senior citizen as myself). But that is who you turned out to be. Due to your shoddy work, I had to buy the piece for my van twice in addition to you wasting my time texting and calling you based on your false promises to replace the piece that you put or refund me the cost. Sad but true there are people who run their business like you do. I will still keep my good faith in people despite your lies, and keeping the money you promised to refund me. I can only hope that you will treat future customers better than you treated me.

The owner Tim was happy to pick up my car but agreed to come pay me the remainder of money I was requesting when I found the title. I found the title and he blocked my phone number so my calls went straight to voicemail. I called from another phone and he hung up as soon as I told him who I was and what I wanted. In the end I got $200 dollars less than what I was requesting because he didn't follow through on his end of the agreement! I never received the cash he promised to bring when he picked up the car title.

The owner, Tim, was incredible to work with. I got connected to him through a company called CarBrain that helps people get rid of their old cars- including to be sold for scrap. My car ended up in the repair shop for some accidental damage- I was planning on getting the repairs made, but this shop (which I'd never been to before) found some concerning structural issues that had occurred over time (that were not caused by this new damage) that was or would become unsafe. I have another repair shop I have been going to for many years- and had never been told this. I talked to them and they brushed it off as a Minnesota car with Minnesota rust. I was really torn on what to do with my car since I'd had the car for the last 16 of it's 19 years, and I loved that car. I wanted to fix it and keep driving it. But, I didn't want to drive an unsafe car. So, I decided to sell it to Tim for scrap. From the beginning, working with Tim was wonderful. The last few days with my car had been extremely stressful and chaotic, and he was such a calming presence. Instead of having me meet him at the repair shop (which was very out of my way) he offered to just bring the car back to his shop and I could meet him there. He told me no rush, no pressure- just get here when you can today. He was also really understanding and compassionate about how attached I was to this car. We got there and the process of transferring the title and receiving my money was super easy and straightforward. He asked me why I was getting rid of the car and I told him because I was uncertain about the structural safety of the car- and how I'd received conflicting info about this from 2 different repair shops. I told him if the car was safe to drive I would absolutely get it fixed and keep it. He offered to take a look at it for me and see if my car might still be ok to drive. He had the car up the next morning and looked at it in detail, sent me photos, and explained everything he saw and his thoughts. He agreed it wasn't safe (or would soon become unsafe), and the repairs to the structure would be extensive and very expensive. Tim didn't have to do any of this. I had already signed the title over- he could have just heard my story and said oh that's too bad. But, he went above and beyond to see if there was a way I could keep my car. I tried offering him money for his time and expertise, but he would not accept it. I would absolutely work with Tim again. 5 stars all around.
