The fellow who works in the recycling center needs to retire. One of the most rudest people I've ever met. Hennepin county can do way better

I found all interactions were helpful and pleasant. Not all counties across US provide this level of service at such a low cost...consider yourself lucky if you live in this County

Staff are professional, helpful, and endlessly patient. I have used this location for over a decade and appreciate having it available.

Lady at the front had a very unpleasant attitude and was very dismissive. We brought up remnants of an old picnic table. This place used to take wood. I would have been okay with her telling us they no longer take wood in a normal tone of voice with no attitude. She needs to not be at the front dealing with people

Came to this facility today 2 minutes before closing t the sign up said open the young lady who was working at the window screamed out in the most horrible possible manner "WE CLOSE AT 5" she was extremely upset at us and she looked super angry, it was at closing and I understand that she had to go but she didn't need to be so rude.

Very rude customer service from the individual asking what I have at window. Very disappointing.

Great start, very friendly and helpful. Quick in and out & Bru reasonable charges for appliance recycling

genuinely the rudest customer service ever, i’m actually not sure if they’ve ever had human interaction. If you aren’t happy with your job, leave. Both the front check in lady and the men helping with the service.

Don't trust the information on the website. I drove 20 miles just to find out the rules at this location are different from what they say on the website. The county needs to fix their terrible website. Hennipen County has a really bad system for transfer stations and landfills. No wonder ever litters on the highways. If you don't give people a way to dispose of larger items, then the county spends even more money picking up once its littered.

This place is amazing! I dropped off items on a regular basis. Even open on Saturday. They take metal, plastic film, electric cords, cardboard, paint, chemicals, compost, and many more. Some items require a fee, like TVs, tires, and mattresses.

I am disappointed that things like deep fryers, coffee pots, and toasters are not taken. I am disappointed that I had to take them back home. And throw them in the trash so they could be burned in the HERC.

I was at the recycling center today, took 3 large tires that someone left on my driveway and paid to recycle, but the 3 guys working on gate # 2 they are really rude!, I drove and waited for a few minutes by the stop sign and they were inside just talking on the small office. Finally one guy said go ahead and he left and go inside to the office! I had to get out of my truck and waved someone but he ignored me finally I knocked the door and I asked if someone is available to help. I told the guy I have 3 tires and he asked for my receipt, I showed my receipt and he took his time to read every single word ! to make sure I paid $3 dollars for each tire! This is ridiculous with this 3 guys! and hope someone address this issue they get pay to help/assist customers not to be inside the room just doing nothing! Never come back to this location.

Very convenient to drop off household paint and used motor oil. Staff helped remove it from my car. Bring your ID to prove your residency. Took about 15 minutes on the line which moved steadily.

They take many chemicals and leftover paint for free and appliances for around 20 dollars. Very fast and efficient. The have people available to help unload the items.

Everytime I go. The blonde at the checkin drive window asks very odd and demeaning questions and is always rude. You are an employee not the owner. Get over yourself and your privilege. Bloomington location has much better employees that don't act like they are better than everyone else. And actually you know do their job adequately and professionally.

The website is misleading, according to the site, they accept mattresses, nothing about only certain types and under their listing for what they don't accept, foam mattresses are not listed: Garbage, Ammunition, Asbestos, Business hazardous waste, Carpet, Concrete or asphalt, Construction materials, Empty gas cans, Explosives, Furniture, Infectious waste, Medicines, Non-reusable textiles, Remodeling debris, Wood, Yard and tree waste And the lady wanted to argue with me about it... she did finally give me a list of other places to try... but if they would've just posted under the mattress listing that only some mattresses were accepted, I would've saved myself a lot of frustration.

This place is the best! You can get rid of all of your plastic film, cardboard, household electronics and appliances, old tires, new tires come to think of it, and pretty much anything in between. It's either free, or the ridiculously low price. The best part is, you know that everything is going to be recycled, so there's a little bit of a feel-good aspect to it too.

I was at the recycling center today and second other reviews of the extremely rude woman working at the entry station. The woman is obviously miserable at her job and life and takes it out on other people, she was one of the most rude people I have dealt with before. Someone in a front facing position with the public should have an assemblance of customer service skills, or at the very least be respectful to the people she encounters every day. I have no idea what Hennepin County was thinking with that hire. Everyone else I encountered when I was there had been friendly and helpful, so while my trip didn't start out well fortunately it ended well.

I love this place. I live at the edge of hennepin county and usually bring all my cardboard for about 2 months in at once. Always fast, people are pretty helpful. This place is great to have available instead of filling my entire recycle bin with cardboard boxes. Plus there's lots of good restaurants nearby, so I can get lunch and make an event out of it! :P

Convenient location and process- TERRIBLE Hennepin County customer service. The employees inside each gate were wonderful. Super helpful, and it was a pretty simple process for my first time. The front entrance employee by the name of Johnny (a younger female) was extremely unprofessional. She was rude, had a terrible attitude and lacked customer service skills. I had asked what her name was. At the end of the transaction, she told me, "Yep my name is Johnny and go ahead-tell my manager." She had a stack of her supervisors cards it appears she frequently hands out. When I went inside both gates, I asked the other employees who her supervisor was. They mentioned she gets frequent complaints. I asked how someone continues to work there if they have such frequent issues. They responded, "I'm still trying to figure that out." Again, the employees inside the facilities were great. The Hennepin county employee, Johnny, was the issue. Additionally, I contacted her supervisor Saturday 11/20 and left a vm, and sent a follow up email Tuesday 11/23. Her Supervisor Matt Hanson has yet to respond. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience with Hennepin County Employees. Given that I've contacted her supervisor twice, and not heard back, and had the poor experience with her, this absolutely seems to be a Hennepin County employee issue. Not only was it a bad experience, but it also reflects poorly on the Hennepin County's Organization. If Hennepin County has a Google Review team, I would love to be contacted to further discuss this matter, as I've told Matt Hanson in both of my attempts to contact him.

Well, they took my cardboard and the lady at the entrance was nice. That's about the end of the positive aspects. I pulled in with a trailer of cardboard, immediately inside the garage door were 3 employees in vests, talking. None of them gave any sort of acknowledgment or directions of where I should take my load. I rolled down my window to ask, had to holler for them to look up. I drove ahead to unload, but the location of the cardboard pile meant that my vehicle was blocking the only exit for other cars with other materials (which there were a handful of at this point). I (again hollered) to the 3 chatting employees - what should I do? I'm blocking all these folks in! - to which I was told "if they have time to come here, they have time to wait for you." and he went back to talking. I began unloading my trailer load and the CUSTOMER in the car behind me, seeing my predicament, got out to help me. The employees couldn't be bothered to stop a bottle neck or help a woman with a bunch of material, but a kind stranger could. It was unprofessional and ridiculous.

The Brooklyn Park/Hennepin County transfer Station is super convenient if you are like me and do a lot of your shopping online and constantly have cardboard to deal with. The first time I went here I was nervous because it's a big campus/facility and I thought it'd be confusing but the helpful staff at the front check you in quickly and get you pointed to the correct door/building. All of the disposal/recycling drop off places are in large warehouse buildings and you actually drive your vehicle right into the correct building (or buildings if you have mixed items). Everything is set up really well so that it's all one-way traffic. So if you have multiple items you head to one place, then upon exiting that building if your other items need to go somewhere else you just loop back around the one-way system to get to the next building or door without having to exit and go back through the front gate again. The longest I've ever had to wait to drop anything off here is 5 minutes or so while I was waiting for someone ahead of me with a carload of cardboard to clear out so I could pull all the way up to where you toss the cardboard. Can I recycle cardboard at home? Yes, but then I have to cut everything down to smaller sizes to get them to fit in my 96 gallon recycling can at home and even then it ends up filling up the bin so I don't have as much room for everything else that goes into the recycling. This place allows you to bring in as much cardboard as you can fit in your vehicle and there aren't really any restrictions to how big those pieces are outside of whether or not you can physically get them into and back out of your vehicle. If you're like me and sometimes order something large like a piece of flat pack furniture or a TV and you suddenly have huge slabs of cardboard you need to get rid of, it's a lot easier to cut them into 3-4 large sheets that fit in my car rather than dozens of small pieces so they will fit in the can at home. On top of the cardboard drop-off which is actually the main reason I love this place, they also accept cans of paint and other items that are sometimes hard to dispose of or that shouldn't be thrown away carelessly. If the paint is still sealed enough to be usable and not in one huge dried paint hunk, they also have a place where they take some of those usable items so that other residents that may need some of the items can use them instead of them just getting thrown away which I think is pretty cool. This is way more than I thought I'd ever write about a giant warehouse where I bring cardboard every few weeks, but it's a pretty slick setup and I'm happy that our county offers this type of thoughtfully designed service.

Super quick and easy. I dropped off about 15 cans of paint smaller than 5 gallons. The people working there helped me unload my car and I was in and out of there within 5 minutes. This even includes the time for the pickup truck in front of me to unload.

I’ve been using this location for at least a decade and they’re always nice, courteous and very helpful. I’ve taken not only my stuff but my elderly neighbors and they’ve never said a word. From paint, tv’s and fluorescent bulbs to oil, glue, cardboard and tires, they take nearly everything for little to no charge. Love this service from Hennepin County.

The recycling service that Hennepin county offers is great but the fact that they no longer offer trash/refuse and construction debree collection at their transfer stations is something that reduces county services and costs the residents of the county more since the only alternative is to go to private refuse companies. I estimate that what used to cost me $25 now costs $100 to get picked up. I did not see my property taxes reduced due to this change. This was a large enough decision two years ago that I'm surprised it wasn't necessary to take to the ballot since it has all appearances to be putting the profit of the private companies first over the residents of the county.

Don't go here unless you have the list of things in your car memorized. I had mainly old paint and aerosols to get rid of. When I told the woman at the booth I had a misc box of household items, she said in a very sarcastic tone that she needed to know what I meant by "misc items" and she was mad that I didn't know what else I had. I ended up just telling her I would be fine if they didn't take my other stuff. Then she finally let me go through. The guys who took my stuff were very helpful and courteous. But don't waste your time going to the Brooklyn Park location. Terrible customer service at the booth. I don't know who that woman is but she didn't need to raise her voice with me and be rude like that. UNACCEPTABLE.
