I went to Shafer Automotive a few times before they have always been trust worthy, they fixed my car problems and I think there billing was fair and easy to understand. They answered all my questions. I recommend them 100%
I'm very upset at Kevin at Shafer Automotive. I called and told him i didn't have enough money to fix my 2005 Chevy Trailblazer so i was going to pick it up and trailer it home untill i had the funds to have it fixed i told him i was on my way and i rented a trailer for $200 and i get there and nobody's there and the keys are nowhere to be found. I'm very disappointed he should've at least called me before just leaving me hanging. I drove all the way up there from Hugo for nothing.😡😡
Reasonable prices and always does a great job. Regardless of the issue, gets my vehicles in and completed when I need them done. Right down the street too, why go anywhere else. Thumbs up fellas. You can count on my buisness
Kevin is a great guy. Only reason I only have 4 stars is he is so busy it can take him a few days to get your car done. I have never had issues with his repairs

I have used Kevin for a few repairs on my truck in the past, every time I am 100% happy and satisfied. today he squeezed my truck in for a wheel bearing and got it out same day, I will continue to do my repairs here. Honest & reasonably priced shop. My '97 mini van would randomly not start or run, anti-theft light comes on; stranding me several times. Throwing lots of codes. A different shop wanted over a grand to replace computer module and more, but said they couldn't be certain that was the problem. I'm sick of getting ripped off, so no thank you.
I Googled the issue, watched YouTube videos about it, said it could be bad solder joints behind the dash gauge panel, mimicking a bad body sensor module. I soldered about 20 iffy spots, it worked for 2 months, then starting acting up again. I took it to Shafer Automotive, told them the symptoms, about the YouTube videos, told them about my soldering the dash panel. Thankfully, they weren't condescending but seemed genuinely interested. They found out two things, the new battery from Walmart was bad, I okayed a new Interstate battery. No more Walmart batteries for me! They said this happens a lot. However, it still wasn't starting occasionally. They removed the dash gauge panel, but did what I wouldn't do, they removed the front of it, and found about a dozen bad solder joints on the other side, that they fixed. So, after the cost of a new battery, diagnostic check, and just over 100 bucks to fix the dash panel solder joints, my van has run great for over a year. They also replaced bad brake lines that rusted out another time, cheapest air conditioner compressor replacement around too.
Kevin and his guys have fixed our older cars for a couple years now. He will tell you what repairs need to be fixed NOW, and which ones can wait. How many shops do that? I wish I would have known about this shop years ago, we would have saved thousands over the last decade. You won't regret bringing your vehicles here.
In the almost 20 years I have been taking my vehicles here, I have never been sorry I did. Kevin ( the owner) has always taken the time to explain everything that needs to be done. Friends I have referred there, keep going back. Great business!
