Absolutely terrible experience from start to finish. For 6 years.They treat paying customers like an inconvenience instead of valuing their business. I canceled my trash service over a month ago because the service was wildly inconsistent — some days my trash wouldn’t get picked up at all, other times it wouldn’t be collected until 9 PM. On top of that, their old, beat-up trucks constantly leaked hydraulic fluid and disgusting trash liquid in front of my house every time they stopped.
Even their office looks unprofessional and filthy — honestly looked like a hoarder situation.
When I canceled, I was specifically told to leave the EMPTY trash cart by the road every Thursday until someone eventually picked it up. A month later, the cart is still sitting there, it has killed part of my lawn that I spend good money maintaining, and now I receive another bill despite not using their service for an entire month.
When I called, Amy told me I had “paid in advance” for the month — which makes absolutely no sense because the previous employee told me I could NOT use the trash service after the day I canceled. So apparently I paid for a month of absolutely nothing. When I asked if they would either refund me or at least honor the month I already paid for by continuing service temporarily, she refused to work with me whatsoever.
This exact attitude is why I happily switched to Jentech. The owner there has been professional, pleasant, consistent, and easy to work with. Their trucks are clean, they don’t leave a disgusting mess in front of my house, and they pick up at the same time every day.
If you’re considering Specialty for trash service — RUN as far away as possible.

COME PICK UP YOUR CAN! Its been sitting by road for a month now. Husbands been trying to call but noone answers, he leaves messages every time. may paint it and put flowers in since it seems to be part of our landscaping now! Just another -for the company added.

Quick and easy just the way I like it, I was a little worried going through there and picking up a nail or something to cause a flat and there were some pretty deep spots filled with water but it's a scrap yard so I guess expect that.
Ai can’t even figure out what I tell it and I’m on hold for over a half hour now I just wanted to know if they sell carbatteries since they came up on Google but I seriously cannot believe how bad this experience was and will tell everyone I know to tell everyone they know how they’d rather go somewhere else and if they don’t have what I’m looking for don’t list yourself on Google as a car part resale operation
I have zero complaints! I have been using Specialty since December and never had an issue. Not only do they charge a fair rate for service, they show up on time every single time, even if there is a snow storm. I love that when I have questions I can call and talk to a human. Almost my entire neighborhood has switched over and no one has had any issues. They also continue to upgrade their services and they pass savings back to their customers! Unlike Waste Managment who pays the CEOS millions of dollars a year. Look it up!
Specialty gets the garbage picked up one way or another for a very competitive price. Honest on scrap weights and pricing. Can also find good tires for cheap if you need em.
High customer standards, honest, great prices and service, Chris, George and their employees have always went above and beyond taking care of my needs from house demos, dump trailers, dumpster and curb side services to buying scrap metal and much more. Highly recommended?
People have negative things to say about Chris; but I really dont have anything but positivity to say about him. He has always treated me with respect and generosity and he values my husband who works Very hard to collect the communities garbage in All weather.
As far as trash being left in the cans.. a common problem is "loose trash." I have never actually Heard of Anyone not bagging their garbage until I came out to Owosso. The collectors will often pull the bags as there is no arm on the truck doing all the work. The man is literally doing ALL of it. Driving, stopping, throwing, managing distracted drivers and literally risking their lives to take your trash out. Bag it.
Bury your deer carcasses. Dont put out wet paint. The community is actually spoiled because there's no weight limit for trash carts! There's still only ONE dude picking up that 3 seater sleeper sofa you lied was a regular love seat to get a cheaper rate. There's no other company that would take all of it. Everyone else is gonna leave it and tag it. You wanna go to a co where the truck does all the work? Youre going to have YOUR loose trash blowing across your neighborhood. Do you think they are going to get out to clean up after you or accept ANYTHING sitting next to your cart? NOPE.
This is a trash service where the man operates a scrap yard. He is really not obligated to make pleasantries with every rude person he encounters.
There is no autopay. You will recieve a bill. It takes three days to process.
If you do not pay the bill: your trash will not be picked up. It doesnt matter if you scream expletives at the drivers, the computer system doesnt update immediately. To avoid this happening to you. PAY YOUR BILL WITHOUT LETTING IT LAPSE just like you would your Other bills.
It's the most affordable trash option in the area and the guys jump through more hoops than you could ever handle yourself to care for our community.

This doesn't even deserve 1 star. When they delivered the can, it was disgustingly dirty with holes and rusty nails sticking out. They almost never answer the phone. Billing was consistently inaccurate and I had to call every few months to fix it. They wont honor the free month unless you get in touch with someone. They never made notes on my account so I had to start over every time I called. I canceled my service near the end of January and it has been five weeks and they have still not come to pick up the can, despite multiple calls/messages put into them. Save yourself some time and pick a different service!
Prices get raised without notice. They don’t do refunds. Owner refuses to talk with me. The guys who pick up the trash don’t dump the cart, they just pull the bags out so trash is still left in the bottom of the cart. BYE
I brought in a 27 pound copper radiator with solder joints and some pain on it no steel considered number two copper and got $.80 a pound. The current rate for number two copper is an average of $3 a pound. That’s a $60 difference. If gold sellers did this they would be put in jail, lol!

I just purchased the house, not even my garbage bin belonged to previous Owners. I have been calling speaking to and leaving messages for about five or six weeks for somebody to come pick up this garbage can that doesn’t even belong to me because I don’t have them for garbage pick up. they still haven’t come by to pick up this garbage can definitely accompany. I would not want to do business with.
They do not answer their phones!!! How can you run a business and not have a proper way for you're customers to reach you!! Completely unacceptable and not very professional!!!
Just moved to the owosso area and I went with this company for my garbage, paid for 3 months and it's been 2 weeks without a trash can being delivered and over a week with no return phone call! Stay away from this company!!!
I prepaid for 3 months of trash service. In February 2025 the trash person left the dumpster open and 6" of ice collected in the bottom of the can. The company claims the "bags" were to heavy and they needed a different truck. For 3 weeks I had no trash service, when they finally sent a different truck, the person repeatedly dropped the trash can in the road till the ice fell out. I paid for 3 weeks of service not received. Then again in May I electrically sent payment, the company waits till June 13, 2025 to post the payment to my account, picks up the trash on June 20, 2025. Again 3 weeks with no service that I paid for. The Manager will not allow me to speak to the owner by phone or in person and states "too bad the owner says there's no adjustment with the billing dates". Specialty Salvage owes me 6 weeks of payments returned for services paid for and not received.
I switched to these guys about a year ago and I'm already ready to cancel them. Half the time when they do pick up my trash they leave a bunch of trash in the bottom of the can. Yesterday they didn't pick up at all in my town and today they picked up everybody's trash but mine. My wife was looking out the window and said they slowed down and looked at my container and then kept going. This place is a Mickey mouse operation and I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. I tried to save a few bucks but it's like they say...you get what you pay for. I give them zero stars.
I had their service for three months. They missed pick up several times. I asked them one month before the ending of their service to pick up their garbage can, It has been three months and they still have not. It still sits beside the road. I’m going to have to sue them for Storage fees.
Easily the worst company I have ever dealt with. Every single employee I have dealt with is EXTREMELY unprofessional and as a whole, they truly do not care about losing business or keeping business.
When I call I will remain on hold for over an hour. I am not sure what small business is that busy to keep a customer on hold for that long. Ive called back over and over after being on hold for 15 minutes at a time. I get the same results every time.
They answered at first and I told them that the trash bin lid was broken by THEIR DRIVERS and the representative stopped talking and I have not been able to get ahold of them since. Not to mention not only was the lid broken off, but the bin was left in the middle of the road by their drivers (all caught on my front door camera).
In the past, when calling to get help with your bill the employee told me "they don't babysit their customer's bills and it's not their problem." and then she literally hung up. They will just stop coming to get your trash with no explanation and it's not easy to get the problem resolved.
And they give NO refunds. Which makes sense cause they probably get tons of people wanting refunds and they would lose so much money if they gave refunds for their terrible service.
Also, one time my cousin went to dump there in person before and the guy working there was YELLING at him saying "you're not my dad, you can't tell me what to do".
Other trash companies in the area: Kellys Refuse (the best if they service your area) and JenTech. Avoid Speciality Salvage if you can!
I have hadnothing but trouble using their Trash Billing link. My payment just goes to a dead file. I am then tasked with trying to convince another company to forward the payment. This is the 3rd time. Ik done. They are uncooperative.
