What can I say I'm an absolute sucker for a lighthouse. And this gorgeous little gem sits on a pristine Lake Michigan beach (literally right on the beach). One of the more remote lower peninsula Lake Michigan lighthouse I've ever been to. The drive to the lighthouse was almost as pretty as the lighthouse grounds itself. Anyone familiar with Silver Lake State Park and its dunes can attest to that. Well worth a visit any time of the year and maybe just maybe you will be lucky enough to witness a legendary Lake Michigan sunset as the backdrop.

Beautiful historic brick lighthouse. We went during off-season, so we couldn't do a walk through, but a must-see year round. I will be back this summer to get the whole experience!

I've been here before but brought my daughter, as well as her friend, who hadn't been here. Both ladies went up the lighthouse & loved it. It was windy & cloudy so not as pretty as a sunny day would've been but still beautiful. The volunteer there was very friendly & informative.

Well worth the stop. Beautiful location. Glad a volunteer group is keeping the lighthouse maintained.

Climbed to the top and the view was amazing. Well informed workers to give lots of information about the lighthouse. Even has a gift shop.

The light house is cool, about 130 steps to climb to the top, outdoor platform with nice views all the way around. The volunteers are very nice and informative. It cost $8 a person as of this posting, but the funds go to a non-profit who maintains it and other Lighthouses in the state, Militarily/Vets are free. Must wear shoes covering whole foot. Only 10 ppl allowed up at a time due to platform weight restrictions. We went in October no wait.

Beautiful old lighthouse, yet very different from most around the area in it's brick construction. Easy to walk to from a nearby parking lot. There is a tiny camper set up in the lot where you can buy a few souvenirs and also tickets to enter the lighthouse and walk to the top. It's 130 steps up to the viewing deck, but it's free to just walk out onto the beach and check it out from the outside. The beach here is clean and gorgeous. One of Lake Michigan's numerous pristine beaches.

This is a really cool lighthouse and well maintained. The beach and dunes are really clean and taken care of plus it's just a beautiful view. Plenty of parking, restrooms, and benches to just relax and enjoy the view.

Absolutely love visiting this lighthouse and the beach here. I hope to come back many, many times. The lighthouse tour was really cool. The volunteers were knowledgeable and kind. The water and beach here is pristine. I’ve never seen water this clean at a lake. My family and I visited in mid September, there was no fee to park. We paid to do inside the lighthouse.

A beautiful lighthouse right next to the water with a beautiful beach for sunbathing or swimming. Beautiful dunes for the kids to explore but watch out for the poison ivy everywhere.

With the exception of the brutal wind I always enjoy this lighthouse and area. Its peaceful and so beautiful.

Beautiful lighthouse, and beautiful surroundings. Good access to see Fresnel lens, lamp, and equipment at the top level. Friendly volunteers who know their stuff about the lighthouse. Surrounding dunes are lovely.

Nice light house on Lake Michigan. There’s a gift shop where you buy your tickets and walk a short very smooth paved path to the light house. Outhouse

Wow! This is a cool piece of history and an amazing place to visit. My wife and I were fortunate to visit the lighthouse the day when we could tour it. I climbed the 130 steps and enjoyed a beautiful view of the lake and shoreline. The view was worth the $8 admission fee.

We love it there. We go just about every night to watch the sunset, and the little beach is a blast for the kids.

I left Michigan before I was able to photograph one of those beautiful sunsets I remember as a kid growing up in Muskegon. I had the opportunity to go to Silver Lake in 2020 and couldn't pass up the lighthouse. Careful, if you are out of shape (like I was), don't show up late!! Those dunes are a fierce, uphill climb that takes twice as many steps as it should to crest the hill. Dunes were nothing but a thing 48 years ago. Here is my contribution. I am not sure why it took years to add it. "How long did it take" - 10 minutes and no cardio!!! :: gasp ::

Great location with lighthouse set on a wonderful beach, I didn’t go into the lighthouse on this visit but I do intend to at some point in the near future. It wasn’t too busy when I was there middle of July although there was still a little queue to get into the actual lighthouse, I guess they only allow so many in at the one time.

Beautiful beach on Lake Michigan. You have to pay to go on a tour in the lighthouse, but the beach was so nice. Very clean and spacious

Beautiful lighthouse with a small town feel. We loved our experience even though it was very foggy. The little trailer to buy tickets and souvenirs is adorable. We loved the information the guide at the top told us. A must see!

This has never been open to climb during any of my visits, but caught it open this day. Worth the 8 dollar fee to climb. Standard spiral stair climb, 3 landings to rest if you get winded. Plenty of room at the top and on the catwalk outside. Not much room under the lens to get a photo of that though. Info on walls inside about history. Very nice.

Amazing views of lake Michigan from the top of the lighthouse. The lighthouse is well maintained and is a breeze to climb. The wonderful staff make the experience even more memorable. Quite windy at the top so bring a jacket!

Old lighthouse right on the beach. During the summer months, it's open to go up the 130 stairs to the top and take in the beautiful views from the observation deck. See my pictures. The cost was $8 per person, but it was well worth it. Even if closed, it is still worth the trip if in the Silver Lake dunes area!

Beautiful beach (picture perfect). Weather on Labor Day was 73° and perfect for laying out on the warm sandy beach. The water temp was cool, but you were used to it immediately. It's worth the visit.

This was the first time I climbed a lighthouse in my 60+ years of living in Michigan. Since we had the grandkids from Texas with us I couldn't turn down the opportunity to finally do it. Wait time was short and tour guides were helpful in explaining everything. I felt the fee was reasonable and it went to preserving this maritime treasure. I was told the staff are volunteers who just want to keep it from being lost. The view from the top was priceless. Over 150 steps so be ready. Highly recommend.

Another beautiful spot to visit. We went in June and the weather was nice - about 70° so the water was a little cold. The lighthouse was a sight to see! They do charge $8 for adults to climb to the top which we did not feel like paying for. Even without doing so, the surrounding area was nice and we enjoyed relaxing on the beach

The lighthouse was very fun to climb. The view was amazing and worth the scary winds up there! The guides are cool and obviously knowledgeable. The beach was also very cool. Lots of people. The beach was warm and you can go out pretty far before not being able to touch. Parking was cheap and the lighthouse was too.

Be sure to come on Tuesday as you can climb the stairs and view the lake. Great place for sunsets, swimming, pictures for any occasion from weddings to senior pics, engagement pics or just family pics. Be sure to come and enjoy this Michigan Gem!

Such a beautiful beach, the sand is so soft! I love that the sand squeaks it’s so fun! When we arrived there was a wedding set up right next to the lighthouse- very nice place for a low key but beautiful beach wedding! The bathrooms weren’t as nasty as anticipated so that was a plus! There is a good amount of space on the beach, I would imagine it could get packed pretty quick on hot summer days. But it is very beautiful, it is also rather shallow for a while! You can see my 3’7” three year old girl she can walk in it very well. So it’s a good beach for littles to be able to walk and play in the water. It’s a typical beach and gets deeper as you go out for adults. Also- for a Michigan beach it is not as rocky as some or as filled with nasty grass and gross stuff. It is one of the cleanest beaches I have been too- and It’s just a soft sand in the water- did find some small rocks but no shells to look through. Over all 10/10 would recommend to families for a little vacation spot!

Amazing park! BONUS- dog friendly!! The scenery is beautiful, the sand is soft, and there is plenty of beach to swim on! There are little bathrooms in the parking lot area (no running water though, so be sure to fill your bottles before hand!). My kids loved climbing the dines behind the park. They tried sand berries for the first time (?). Thdre are some little waves which make the swimming fun for them. We didn't take the tour of the light house, but it was cool to photograph and read about. I couldn't stop taking photos! A must see if you are in the area!

Very good lighthouse to checkout, it's accessible and not so busy. There is a 8$ fee to go up top and view is spectacular Parking is limited but not too hard to find. The beach there is awesome and it's good to checkout the sunset, enjoy a casual evening or simply stroll around.
