My family visits Martindale Beach annual Labor Day weekend and enjoy it. However, I wish the park would manage/ clean the grass area closer to the sand of geese poop! Its overwhelming! The sand area seems to be maintained much better.

It was my first time here. There were blue herons walking around mingling with people. It was soo cool! The water felt great and was clean. There is a lot to do here. Bathrooms were nice too.

Loved it. Clean. Busy but plenty of room. Has a park, a splash pad that is affordable. Food to buy! Clean hot sand. I love it here!!! Will be back often

Beautiful time for my family! We finally got out to Kensington this season! We love ? the beach, the water was so nice and warm and the sun ? was great until Mother Nature ran us off with a pop up thunderstorm!⛈️ oh well we got to enjoy it for a few hours and we can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful beach for kids! No grilling but awesome for picnics. You can enjoy the beach or pay $7 to take the kids to the splash pad. Everything is within close proximity, including the very clean bathrooms!! No restrictions on tents or umbrellas.

The grounds were very clean and it wasn't crowded on a Monday. The splash pad was nice and clean, plenty of places to sit. The lake was very warm, a little too much seaweed for me, though the kids seemed to like it.

Nice to have a park adjacent to the beach. Good for a summer picnic. Plenty of parking space really close to the park and beach. But it costs $10 for a day pass to enter if you don't have a metropark pass already. Also the water was muddy. It wasn't fun going into the water, especially taking a dip all the way with the head submerged in water. I thought it was because I went on a public holiday but from what I heard, water is like that throughout the year. Restrooms are available nearby but both restrooms and beach-side closes by 8 pm. You can still be around to enjoy the park and use porta-potty till 10 pm.

It's pretty cool. Not enough grills, but it was a holiday & your able to bring your own. Beach & water could be cleaner, but what can ya do? It's standard Michigan lake water.

Love this place, it's clean and not too many people. The food is great and reasonable

Has great concessions and bathrooms, but the water was nasty. I've never seen so much stuff floating in a lake better. The seaweed and green blobs were out of control. I would recommend Island Lake Recreation on the other side of the freeway if you are looking for a clean spot to swim!

Nice place for the family! If you need crystal clear water this is not the place for you ! If you don’t care about clams snails and algae your in for a fun time ! There is no grilling on the site and no alcohol beverages allowed. Police are on site watching for safety.?

Amazing place to hang out. Clean toilets and showers. A must visit spot if you are in the vicinity!

Love Martindale Beach. Been coming since I was a little kid. Came the other night for a walk and got to see some beautiful sailboats.

I love taking my grandbabies here we barbecue they can swim and they even have a splash pad. It’s seven dollars to get in, but it’s worth it. The kids loved it.

I arrived soon as the park opened so I had the beach to myself for a while. The water was refreshing and clean. I saw a few fish in there. It was so peaceful and relaxing. There’s so much to explore and do at Kensington. I love this place!!

We come here every year in May for the Water Lantern Festival. There’s a little playground, plenty of shade away from the shore (if sitting beachside consider bringing a pop up tent or shade of some kind). The lake view is lovely. There’s a great splash park on site and nice facilities for concessions and bathrooms. When it gets busy, the bathrooms are a mess, but I’ve never been at any park where that hasn’t been true. The sand at the beach is very dusty and dirty and gravelly, but the kids didn’t care one bit. Nice place for a day out with family.

Second weekend in a row we spent at the lake! Splash pad tickets are $7 ea, the concessions are open daily, and have decent prices. We had so much fun we stayed 8 + hrs.

Posting for Kensington Metropark 4th of July fireworks (2023) - fireworks are shot off over Kent Lake (both Maple Beach and Martindale Beach surround Kent Lake and provide good views), starting shortly after 10pm. From Maple Beach, fireworks were to the right as you're looking at the lake. From Martindale, fireworks are straight across the lake (to the left of the water park.) Plenty of space for lawn chairs, blankets, etc, never got super packed (though it was a rainy year), and watch for trees that can obstruct views of course. Music starting around 7pm. Concessions open until 10pm, additional food and toy vendors in special for the day. Bathrooms in the building were available until after the fireworks and we'll cleaned considering it's a lake and also raining. Lake closed at 8pm for swimming. Awesome playground at Martindale Beach. Picnic tables and grilling allowed outside of direct swimming area. Parking lots could definitely fill before the show starts.

I always enjoy spending time here. It’s so relaxing regardless if you swim there or just relax in the sun or in the shade. They do have a food stand open during the summer months that has a few tables with umbrellas. On the grassy hill going down to the beach area, there’s a couple trees that provide shade as well as a sidewalk that leads down to the sandy area.

Great place to spend the day! Lots of fun! Only thing I would change would be having parents pay to go into the splash pad and waterslide area to only watch their children.... should have bracelets or something. Other than that, it's a beautiful beach

Best place to get beautiful sunset pictures. The beach is also pretty clean and tidy

I completely love this park! I set up my canopy and my chair and settle in for the next 8-10 hours. The concession lines are long but the employees can usually get you through pretty fast. No bbq on the beach. Be prepared to get your toes nibbled on by fish!

Attendants super rude Tuesday 9/2, not wearing masks. Curly haired young man. Charged me $4 for my 3 week old baby that I was clearly just going to be holding... Said it was because of "capacity" reasons. It was 5 PM on a Tuesday there was maybe 20 people in there on a posted capacity of 350

We had fun playing on the splash pad with our 1.5 year old. He had a blast. We came late and had to pay $5 per adult (even grandparents who were in clothes and just wanted to watch baby, which is kind of frustrating with only being in there for the last hour)

Nice beach. The splash pad is fun with two decent slides, but it is a little pricy. Lots of picnic areas as well.

Beautiful, calm and quiet place to spend the summer at. A lot of greenery to see. Kayaks and canoes available for those adventurous people. Good place for families with kids. The water park close to the beach is a must go for those who like playing and dancing under water fountains and for those who love water slides. However, the beach isn't at all neat or well-maintained. There's less sand and a lot of muddy water at places. The beach water isn't clear or very clean. The sand and the grasses had animal poop all over the place. It was gross. Limited food options available. Not a good place for vegetarians to purchase food there as everything has either beef or pork in it.
