It is great to have an honest, knowledgeable, and more than reasonably priced transmission shop in the area. I brought my wife’s van to Cuddy Brothers Transmission shop because it was leaking a lot of transmission fluid. For a total of $20, they cleaned up everything, checked everything, and removed 3 quarts of excess trans fluid. Turns out that another shop that replaced the engine a few months prior had overfilled the transmission.
Driving down from up north I thought my transmission was failing. Owner got in the car with me took it for a ride with his diagnostic machine and turns out I had ignition issues. No charge. What a great guy. I would definitely trust him with my vehicle
I have a 20 year old Ford pick up that needed transmission work. Everyone else wanted to put a used transmission instead of rebuilding the transmission. Cuddy Brothers rebuilt my transmission and it runs perfectly. They are extremely honest and keep you fully informed of their progress.
After believing I had a bad transmission on my 2018 Silverado. I went to Cuddy Brothers already set on spending some thousands of dollars to get it replaced or rebuilt. As soon as I arrived one of the main guys stopped what he was doing and we went on a test drive with his equipment hooked up to my truck. Turned out I didnt have a transmission issue (yet). A Chevy dealership had already diagnosed a transmission issue and they wanted to $8k to fix it. Plus the diagnosis was $150. Cuddy Brothers wouldnt even take a $20 thank you tip for his time. I am very grateful to have found an honest mechanic nearby and I now know where to take my transmission to get fixed in the future. (Damm these terrible Silverado transmissions)

So I took my 2013 f150 to Cuddy Transmission for a recall Ford would not honor. This business stepped up and did a brilliant job. They made the vehicle safe for my wife and my grandchildren. Cuddy Brothers overhauled last year our Ford E-250's transmission. This time, they replaced our RAM 1500's transfer case. In both cases they did a great job, communication and service were fantastic as well. We would recommend them to anyone with transmission problems!
Went to Cuddy Brothers for a second opinion. Be it first or second just stop in and get Cuddy to take a look. I drove over 20 minutes for them to test drive my Jeep and left with honest alternatives to an expensive rebuild option provided by the first shop. My problem won't go away so a rebuild may be in my future, but it won't leave me stranded and it will get worse before needing a repair.
I thought my car had some symptoms of slower acceleration but Tod was kind enough to scan the car, test drive it and clear my mind that the car is acting normal and within the acceptable range. that was all done at no extra cost and with no intention to get my business or sell me something I do not need. I would highly trust Tod and his crew with any actual repairs given this positive experience !
Highly recommend! My 2005 Ford Taurus stopped working and was towed to an auto shop that quoted a high price to rebuild the transmission. I was not sure if it was worth doing so my brother-in-law suggested Cuddy Brothers for a second opinion. Todd said he would check it out and determine if the car was worth fixing. I talked to him a few times and I could just tell he would give me an honest answer -- and he did! As it turns out, in his opinion he would NOT fix it and clearly explained why. I was so appreciative that at least I had a good solid answer.
So although my car was not worth fixing, I have told family and friends all about Todd and Cuddy Brothers. Todd was really good—very knowledgeable, honest, helpful and he took the time to talk (and listen) to me. Plus the price would have been much less than the other place! If you need transmission work, definitely go to Cuddy Brothers!!!
Great shop - nice experience. Friendly, professional service! I bought my car here for a 'second' opinion re. a costly transmission repair estimate from another 'fancy' suburban transmission shop. Cuddy Brothers diagnosed the cars transmission as having a linkage issue -- less than one-third the cost of other shop. I highly recommend!
Highly recommended!!! After another local auto shop in Livonia failed to properly diagnose and fix a small leak that was occurring with my E-150 trans, they gave me an option to install a rebuilt trans for $4400……which was absolutely unnecessary.
After receiving a recommendation from a mechanic friend, I immediately took the vehicle down the road to Cuddy’s Transmission where Todd Cuddy went out of his way to not only stay open late to get my van into the shop that night for a look , the next morning he made a few calls to his other customers asking if they would mind him putting there jobs on hold so that he could get me back on the road and back to work.
He quickly diagnosed the issue as a faulty internal trans pump and was able to have it fixed within 48hours of the van being dropped off. The total cost of the repair was $975………….not $4400, like the other auto shop had pitched to me.
Like I said…..I highly recommend taking any of your transmission issues to Cuddy’s!!!!

Todd quickly diagnosed the problem with my vehicle, which happened to be a faulty speed output sensor. This was at no charge. I scheduled a first available appointment to have the repair work done, which was only a 1 week wait. (Great considering the dealership had more than a 3 week wait). Best of all, the repair was completed same day as my appointment and at 1/3 the cost of what the dealership would have charged. I am extremely pleased with the work and I highly recommend Cuddy Brothers Transmission!
Worked with Todd -- awesome experience. We had him check out an '06 Taurus that was given a rather grim prognosis by a local competitor who said the entire transmission would have to be replaced. Todd checked it out and said there was NOTHING wrong with the transmission. The "shuddering" that the competitor said was the result of the transmission was actually the engine misfiring. Cuddy Brothers do not do non-transmission work, so we took it to another shop who did a tune up. Bottom line? We did not pay Cuddy Brothers a penny, but they saved us a great deal of money and heartburn. Thumbs-up!
I brought my truck here for a last minute thing my trans decided to go out on me and these guys were more than willing to take on the job. I brought it in late last week and it’s getting fixed as I write this but so far my experience has been nothing but great with these guys. They are very respectful and willing to make sure they keep you updated with what is wrong with your vehicle and one thing I really respect is their honesty. I do own a 97 silverado and was Leary on even rebuilding the trans due to the truck being older and not knowing if the motor would last very long they took the time to make sure that the truck was going to last before throwing money at it. That showed me they aren’t just in it for the money they are truly interested in the best for the customer. That I appreciate a lot and I look forward to getting my truck back. I would recommend anyone in the area to definitely go talk to them for your trans needs.
I was referred to Cuddy Brothers by my regular mechanic when it appeared that my car had a transmission issue. I called and Todd told me I could stop by anytime that day, and he'd run the diagnostics on my car to see what the issue was (free of charge).
I got there and after running the diagnostics, Todd quickly realized that I didn't have a transmission issue at all...my car had been leaking coolant and I had none left.
He added a full gallon of coolant that he'd had in his shop and refused to let me pay him for it. He then explained exactly what he thought the problem was and referred me back to my original mechanic (and yes, my mechanic confirmed Todd was right about the issue).
Todd was very polite and helpful. Good customer service. Would recommend.

Took my vehicle here after a $1,000+ fix from another shop (replacing cracked exhaust manifold) failed to fix the low acceleration and high rpm before shifting I was experiencing. After taking it back, the previous shop was recommending I have them put in a replacement transmission, but I was not interested as they did not even know what was wrong with the transmission itself.
Took my vehicle to Cuddy Brothers right after, and they identified my issue as a plugged catalytic converter right away after taking the vehicle for a drive. They then recommended a shop that could do the fix, and let me store the vehicle in their lot overnight. Everything was free of charge and they were dead on with identifying the issue. The shop they sent me to (Gary's Auto Tech) fixed the issue by replacing only the converter, and made sure to show me the damage to the old part and test drive the vehicle after. It cost me a fraction of what a full replacement would cost, and an order of magnitude less than what a transmission replacement would have cost after not even fixing my problem again.
Thank goodness I took my vehicle for a second opinion, and thank you Cuddy Brothers!
This is hands down the best auto transmission repair shop. Honest pricing, great communication, best quality work. Do your research and you will see that they offer the best value. I stopped by a couple of other shops and I was told that the work could not be done, they will have to replace parts that it turned out needed not to be replaced, or they asked so much that it did not make sense to repair the transmission to begin with.

I had a new trans installed here several years ago and found it to be a good experience. My current vehicle exhibited signs of a trans issue so I took it to Cuddy Brothers to have it checked out. The issue turned out to be an oil leak. They returned my car to me and did not charge for checking it out. Everyone I've ever spoken with at this establishment has been polite and informative. They do great work and treat me with respect throughout the whole repair process. Give them a chance if you need trans work!!

The job was completed in a timely manner and the cost for the service to my vehicle was the lowest I received from 4 different shops in the area. I picked Cuddy Brothers based on reviews written. I was NOT disappointed.
Todd test drove my van a couple of times, in high hopes it would be
a sensor rather than a trans rebuild.
But, the worst did happen. They took care of my van and when i didn't have a way to pick it up, they delivered it to me on their way home from work. ( I live kinda close to their business)
A few days later, there was a problem with the electrical, which drained the battery, I called, wondering if it could be related. They came, gave the van a jump start and took it back to the garage.A few hours later, here they come with my van. Every thing running great. Turns out, the ground
(something) was rusted and they sanded it down and it's running like a new van. They are great!!! Went above and beyond any other shop i have ever dealt with. Use them, you will have no regrets and they are very nice.
Cuddy Brothers is fair and will work with you. They did a fantastic job with my vehicle. More importantly, the owner Mike was very accommodating, from helping me try to find a rental car, to filling me in on a rebate with the dealership to pay for the cost of my repairs. Cuddy Brothers did amazing work on my transmission over a year ago. I have since brought my truck in twice for other minor repairs and they have taken care of me in a very timely and cost effective manner each and every time. They are very customer service oriented and want to make sure that their clients leave happy with their vehicles running in great condition. The last time I brought my vehicle in, I told them I was going on vacation the next day and needed it back ASAP. They had my cooler lines repaired and my truck ready to go before the end of that same day and the price was more than fair. I would definitely recommend Cuddy Brothers Transmissions to anyone who needs any type of transmission work completed!
Fantastic, friendly service: I was experiencing trouble with my car. I went to my mechanic and he told me it was a transmission problem and that I should go to Cuddy Brothers. I was nervous to take my car somewhere that I didn't know, but my anxiety was entirely misplaced. Everyone was nice, respectful, and helpful. They explained everything to me and fixed my car within a reasonable time and price. I hope to not have any transmission trouble again, but if I ever do, I will be more than comfortable to return!
