Yard is kept in order and the facilities are kept up well. Drive thru non-ferrous area which is really convenient, no other scrap yard has that. The employees are really friendly, willing to help you unlock if need be. Only place I'll scrap with. Kids love the light house out front.
Do not scrap with beacon. I scrapped with them and had to call 3 times before they would send out my money. No reason to withhold money from customers.

I ALWAYS call ahead of time to see what the buyers are paying for whatever I might bring in.
Last week I called and asked about painted extruded aluminum and I was quoted $1.10 per lb. as well as siding prices.
I collected what I was going to bring in and we unloaded it, going thru each type carefully so I would understand the differences in the different grades of aluminum. When we finished he printed my slip, i cashed it out and went on my way.
Once I was home I looked it over and they had paid me only $.90 lb. so I called them. She gave me a run around about what I brought in and when I didn't just give up, she stated she would check with the "boys" to see what happened, and she would call me back. Apparently she thought I would forget about it overnight, but I didn't.
I called back in the morning. She shoved me off to me of the "boys". He told me to stop in and they would actually pay me the going rate.
Oh. I didn't see any "boys" working there. Just men.
Wonderful, very clean scrap yard, as all paths are paved and easily maneuvered. The staff I've dealt with is very knowledgeable and friendly--management is top notch. While they may require that you prepare your material in a specific manner, taking the time to do so gets you the better price--and it makes sense--if you don't prepare it properly, they have to pay their employees to do the prep instead, which means they can't pay you as much for it. If you have questions about how to prepare your material, call ahead--they will more than happily do their best to explain what is needed. I would highly recommend Beacon Recycling for all your scrap metal needs!
I had around 1000 pounds of laptop cords, cat5 cables, vga cables, etc. They wanted to give me scrap iron price for it unless I cut off all the ends of every cord. So they wouldve given me about 80 for it. I went to Padnos instead. They gave me $450 for it, with no prep. So Id advise you to go there instead.
