Bahaha the previous review was spot-on. The guys at the shop were very kind and even let me keep my car there for 3 days when the towing company that took it there through AAA had not been actively bringing my car back. The shop had no clue about what was wrong with my car so I see why the inspection was free. Besides very obvious body collision, they didn't make the slightest efforts to really investigate mechanical faults and why the car won't stay started but they tried to mess with my cold air intake and say "intake lines" were the issue with my car . Does not affect vehicle starting issues and I would know since they're undamaged and was perfectly fine since I installed it. I eventually found and resolved the issue, and all that was left was some basic body work. Took me 12 calls to 696 Gratiot towing and 11 calls to the shop through 3 days of playing with my strings and finally I got my car back, thankfully in one piece and hardly differing condition than what it had been in prior. The operator was kind and patient, however, it still took unreasonable amount of time, calls, and back-and-forth to get my car back home. My accident happened 2 miles from my house but they decided they needed to tow it from the impound 1 mile away to Roseville which is nearly 10 miles east. Then all that nonsense continued. I fixed the car myself btw.
696 towing company 2.5 hours wait for
assistance, and what should have been a straightforward process turned into a complete waste of my time, money, and workday.
I was assured multiple times that a tow truck was “five minutes away.” Despite being rerouted twice and repeatedly reassured, no driver ever arrived. I waited over two hours, including an additional 35 minutes after being told help was on the way. Ultimately, no one showed up. During this time, I was forced to spend unnecessary money on Uber rides,that waited and I lost an entire day of work due to your company’s failure to deliver on its promises.
This experience was unacceptable. Not only did your staff fail to provide accurate information, but there was also no follow-up communication or professionalism in handling the situation.
Please be advised that I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, reporting this incident on Google and Yelp, and contacting AAA to review and reconsider their contract with your company and sever ties

Reading the reviews, I was leery about AAA using these guys, but the tow truck driver was awesome. We had a great conversation and trip, and there was no charge. Treated me and my car with care and respect. 10/10

Would never use this company again and mad a complaint with AAA. They are rude aa Can be and called my girlfriend a Horrible person and was blackballing us from AAA. AAA said we were fine and had many complaint on this company. I went to the address to confront them and they said they dont tow. Talked to other tow companies and they said are not even allowed in to other companies tow yards due to their rudeness. They go by several different company names including Eastside Towing and Shelby Towing. You also cannot find any info on any of these compies on Google.....Also in 2023....They were raided by the FBI and Michigan State Police .
The driver was very friendly but the dispatch team was extremely rude and patronizing. I called because my driver didn't show up and rather than try to help me figure it out, they would not confirm they had any record of my tow, made fun of the amount of time it took me to call them when the driver hadn't shown, told me to call AAA back and deal with them, and were talking to other coworkers around them about me taking so long to call them. Eventually the extremely rude lady put me on with another person that was able to pull up my info. Rather than sitting there being rude for a while, they could have just pulled up the information to begin with. I understand they were busy due to the floods, however, there is no reason to be so rude to a customer. I am also going to let AAA know of this so hopefully they'll think twice before dispatching this company to their customers.
Zero should be an option! AAA RV+ sent this company out for a simple tire change on my RV. The kid showed up in a regular pickup and a jack from the back seat. Proceeded to raise the camper, and I heard crunch and watched my trailer drop fast. He says he needed to call dispatch for a bigger jack and leaves. I finally called AAA only to find out he never called them. I had to go get a different tow co and pay out of pocket after NOT trusting who AAA was sending out. Discovering the crunch was the jack in the wrong place and tore my underbelly. Simple tire Change turned into a 7 hr nightmare with NO accountability. Frank (claimed to be manager) heard I complained to AAA and called me. Was rude as he tried telling me I didn't need to put in an insurance claim. Then I found out the next day they denied it all! Thank goodness my storage facility had it all on video. My camper is still getting fixed since this happened on July 15! I've been given 4 different names of this company too. EASTSIDE TOWING was who AAA claimed to send. Horrible Horrible experience!
Whoever was towing a Kia around 9 pm at 12 Mile did an illegal left turn onto the 94 entrance ramp on a red light and cut me off. I did a good look at the guy who was on his phone the entire time on the freeway not paying attention at all. He’s going to kill someone!
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE FOR 3 DAYS!!!!! What a joke this company is. For three days my tow request has been canceled out. Let my car get repossessed and you guys would've been prompt.
My truck was stranded in the hospital parking lot. Shaun came out for the tow. I can't give him more credit for all he did! It was HOT! The parking spots are so small, and he worked tirelessly to get my truck on the flatbed. He was very professional and got us where we needed to be. Thank you for great service!!
AAA sent this company to jump start my 85 year old sister's car. After car started, tow driver informed her that she needed a new battery. That she only had 40% left. My sister knows nothing about cars and is 85 yrs. old and trusted this guy. He charged her $355.00. Including difficult install fee. This guy was a predator and bamboozled my sister into spending money she didn't need to. I'm lodging a complaint with AAA. AVOID these guys.
The men who drive these trucks are reckless and engage in road rage. I watched one of these men almost run someone off the freeway and then flip them off as they passed them. He continued to cut in and out of traffic to continue to engage in road rage and endanger the other cars around.
My sister just had her tire basically break off of her car, it’s after midnight and they answered right away & rolled up with a flatbed within 20mins of our call, towed it to the shop we asked for and texted to let us know they dropped the car off successfully. Everyone we spoke to was courteous, kind, and helpful. Our tow truck driver was obviously very skilled, and was also just a genuinely kind & nice person. A truly great experience for something so awful to have to deal with.

If I could rate them zero stars, I would! AAA sent me this company to tow my car and with all of the one star reviews, I am shocked that they were recommended! I am even more appalled that they are still in business! I received a call from 696 Towing asking me about my satisfaction with the tow truck service. I explained that the tow truck driver simply put my car in the driveway without letting me know, the job was completed. I said it was bad customer service to not contact me letting me know the service was completed. The person who called me was so rude. She was so upset that I did not give the company rave reviews that she proceeded to yell at me for not being satisfied that my car was towed and disrespected me by telling me she didn’t care about hearing my opinion because I was complaining. When I asked to speak to a manager she hung up on me and blocked my phone number! I let AAA know that I have never been treated so rudely and to never recommend this company to me again! They will not be in business long. They are not only terrible to customers they treat their employees just as horrible - read the company reviews!
0/10 Customer Service Experience. I was stuck waiting on 696 Gratiot and Towing from 12:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning until 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. I requested a tow from Auto Zone and was unaware I spoke with the manager Frank. They canceled my first tow at 8:15 a.m because I did not arrive on scene even though it was an unattended tow, and I had to call them to find this information out. Then the second attempted tow at 10:30 a.m. they did not bring the right tow truck even though in the notes it specified what type of truck was needed. And also did not call to notify me they did not take my car. I asked to speak with the Manager on Saturday but never received a call and followed up on Wednesday to which he stated they have been busy doing other things. It is clear customer service is not a priority so I will not be using them nor needing an apology or communication with Manager Frank who clearly did not care about my concerns.
So I hope you know your driver hit an innocent driver and then fled the seen of the accident. That’s a hit and run hopefully the driver sues your company and the tow truck driver
Literally only got 1 start because you have to go leave a review. I have never and will never use this service. Simply driving in snowy conditions, one of the drivers decided last minute he didn’t want to get off the gratiot exit and cut me off with no care or awareness of what he was doing. Again the roads are rough as it is snowing. Please pay more attention. Lucky I didn’t spin out with my CHILDREN in the car.
The driver in the photo nearly ran me over in a crosswalk. If that wasn't enough, he then began to honk and yell profanity at me for finishing walking through the crosswalk. Zero professionalism, zero accountability for his reckless driving, and no reason for this type of behavior. Stay away from companies that hire man babies like this one.
I couldn’t have asked for a driver more kind than the one who came to help me. I couldn’t find the tow yard where my totaled car was towed to and was a few minutes late to meeting him. The driver told me “no need to apologize ma’am, no need to worry at all”. I can’t tell you how much that statement and his energy put me at ease in such a time of crisis. He was so kind and caring, if he asked a question about my car that I wasn’t sure about, he reassured me not to worry, and went about figuring out what was needed in order to get my car on the flatbed. He even thanked me when I helped push the brick back up under my tires so my car wouldn’t roll, he informed me that the axle was out of socket so it couldn’t be put in gear. He made a chaotic situation calm and I appreciated it so much.
Had my truck towed today and Ronnie R customer service was on POINT. Thank you for your prompt service and dedication to get the job done. AWESOME Driver you won't be disappointed. Thanks again Ronnie.
These people absolutely suck. We have AAA Which pays up to a 5 mile tow. they came out and towed my son’s vehicle 10 miles, so 5 miles over. For five extra miles they charged my son $64 on top of what AAA was already paying them. Absolutely outrageous! If I could give zero stars I would.
AVOID THIS COMPANY! Due to driver loading truck backwards, LOCKED bed cover blew off on freeway and destroyed the cab, door, and windshield of my truck. Owner of the company will not return phone calls, and send you to voicemail when you call. DO NOT USE THEM.
I had the WORST experience with this company last night. I called AAA because I needed my vehicle towed. If I could give a zero rating, I would. I was told that a driver had been dispatched at 9:50pm. I received a call from a driver who said they would arrive at my location in 10 minutes. The truck never arrived. So, I called the phone number that appeared to be the drivers number, but they didn't answer. I then phoned AAA back and was informed that the driver had canceled the pick up. No one called me to inform me of a cancelation. I would have been there all night if I hadn't called AAA back. Being stranded on the streets alone until 11:15pm in an unfamiliar neighborhood was very stressful to say the least. Thankful for the other company that came out and towed my vehicle home.

If I could leave zero stars on this company, I absolutely would. This was the worst towing service I have ever dealt with in my entire years of living. I went through this company through AAA. On May 14, 2024 At approximately 11:00 PM, they towed my car from downtown Detroit to Garden City. On May 15 8 AM I noticed that my vehicle did not make it to the location. It was supposed to be sent. I called this company several times. No one answered. At approximately 11 AM I was able to get in contact with someone and let them know what had happened. They didn’t send someone out to try to correct this issue, which was moving my vehicle that did not start to the right Location. My vehicle supposedly got moved to the right location around 9 PM on May 15, 2024. On May 16 around 9 AM I went to check on my vehicle and it still was not at the right location. The driver had moved my vehicle In the same parking lot, but in a different parking spot. I called the company back to let them know my car doesn’t drive and I need my vehicle moved to the right location. After speaking to customer service and making them aware once again, I was told I would get a call back. It has been an hour and the company has not moved my vehicle to the right location. I’m getting it towed again through another company. Save the struggle do not go to this company. I gave them two chances to try to correct the situation. I understand mistakes happen, but not twice in a row. I been through enough for all of us.
Ryan was great! I've had a horrible experience trying to get my towed to the dealership this entire weekend. Ryan was assigned to pick my car up, and he showed up several hours before I was expecting him to. He was very professional and helped put me at ease during a stressful situation. I can not recommend Ryan enough.
A elderly customer drove her car over a 3 ft curb in our parking lot…Driver was knowledgeable, communicative, prompt, professional and extremely nice! Would not hesitate to recommend!!!!
