When it comes to recycling centers, Padnos is the place to go. To start, all of their staff is extremely professional and knowledgeable and it's no wonder as the center is headed by a gentleman named Chris. He can always be seen in the yard, he makes sure things run smoothly. Also, if you have any concerns he WILL address them personally and get back to you quickly. At the pay window is Valentina, a total sweetheart and very knowledgeable A side the wonderful staff, the yard to break down in is very spacious.
Been coming to this scrap yard for 30 years, I stopped by last week and won't be back. The 2 guys that were separating thur my brass and copper, that I already had separated, had no clue what they were doing!! Had to ask other people how to do there job!! They gave me #2 copper for certain stuff I had that was #1! I'm not the guy that usually complains, I just won't go back!! Just figured I'd let the people know to make sure they are giving you what your supposed to be getting, because they have no idea what brass or copper is!!
I am not returning after today. I brought over 500 pounds of electronics and stainless steel. I had a 20 pound piece of highly expensive steel. It's been sitting around a while and I decided it's no use to me. I had a jack hammer I almost couldn't carry. It was well over 100 pounds. I expected over $100 for everything. It's not a big deal. Even $80 or 60 would do. But this is offensive. I'm not returning. Why does it say sheet iron. I didn't return any plain steel. The plain steel is in my trailer still. I'm leaving with it. I'm not bringing anything to these guys. I went up front to ask what happened and the guy claimed it's all right. This isn't worth doing. There is no way this is correct. They tried charging me to return the batteries. I'm realizing now I wouldn't have made any money at all if I did. This took me a long time. This was a lot of electronics. There was a bunch of aluminum. This was a lot of work. $25 isn't worth the effort. I returned less valuable trips. Much much less valuable and got $50-60. This sheet has no aluminum. The guy said the ss is in the miscellaneous prepared. I'm just upset, I wish I just threw it all away. I'm finding a different place for the future and I'm leaving with the remainder. No way.
I sorted this steel. If there was any plain carbon steel it was not intentional. There shouldn't be any plain steel there. I watched them test steel. They only tested one piece but when much of the steel literally has a label you don't expect them to get it wrong. I had stock cuts of stainless steel. It was 316. This thing said I had almost 300 pounds of sheet iron. I had a bunch 316, but no sheet iron. This is just infuriating. Now I have to find a different place for the future. I have to take this stuff in the back home and I can't throw it to the curb because the junk people that pick it up might bring it here. Even though In this case sheet iron might be accurate. I just don't want to return after this. I spent hours preparing this load. I took things apart. I took electronics apart and separated wires from electronic motors and amplifiers. I returned amplifiers and vehicle electronics. I returned an aluminum jack. A lot of stuff not listed on this reciept. I feel ripped off and I'm upset.
In response to the response. This seemed very intentional to me. That 20 pound drop I mentioned was inconel. I knew you guys would just call it stainless and the rate should have been over $12/ pound. I decided that it was ok to give you a $200 piece of steel for stainless price. Maybe you can go look for it. I mislabelled before I left so you wouldn't get inconel price if I couldn't. When I offered the guy my ID he asked me to get my license plate number instead of asking me if the plate number on the screen was accurate. I had a feeling that was a red flag. I'm hindsight, I know I was correct. I just didn't think they would blatantly rip me off that bag. You guys can keep the money you made out on me with and I just want everyone to know this is how you do business. i have been talking to people and it seems it's no surprise to anyone. Luckily I learned there is a much better place down the street.
Good pricing, reasonable people, pretty clean yard! I like going there, people are pretty nice and if you have a problem with the price they’re very negotiable and personable. One of my favorite places to go for scrapping.

I usually have problems when I went to this place but since their management changed everything has been much better, you definitely have to visit this place.
The manager is definitely the best manager this yard has ever had, his employees are very friendly too and always take care of their customers, they’re very helpful when I get there with my boyfriend

Padnos is definitely the best place to take all your recycling, the customer service is excellent, the new manager Chris definitely cares about his customers. I usually go with my children and they always have sweets and drinks for us
I had and issue with one of my visits and work with a man name Chris he went above and beyond to rectify the issue and show me that Padnos cares about there customers.
Parking is pretty bad people are sometimes friendly but not all that much
If you're looking for cash it's a 50/50 chance your going to be told there ATM but I'll say the new company is way better than GLR but I guess for for a scrap yard it is what it is
It’s extreme horrible ! From now on, i am extremely monitoring them . The management were terrible. They didnt offer their apogolize at all! Two things, i was hit by large object but thankfully i was not seriously injured. And the black guy is still keeping talking to me like i am hearing? I informed Scott three weeks ago, he say he will take care of it. Nope, this guy still talking to me last Saturday he knows better i am DEAF! He is very unprofessional. Wow, i am loyal customer to GLR for 8-9 years! It has to STOP! Considering going back to Winkler cuz their employees are so professional and are always respect me like i am a customer. They will grow more customers, thats fot sure! Thats really UP to Padnos.
I absolutely love GLR Recycling. They are a great scrap yard. The scale clerk Theresa she is absolutely amazing, organized, efficient, professional and super sweet! Definitely the best scrap yard in Michigan!!!! Always a good time. I've made great friends at GLR! Would definitely recommend to everyone. They are a well oiled machine!!!!
Truly Highly Recommend PADNOS off Grosebeck Hwy. Best Scrap yard around. Extremely Knowledgeable Friendly Staff. The professional Scale House Lady Theresa always makes me laugh and she takes great care of all her customers her best way possible with a smile. If you have scrap take it here they are great people. This is my second time trying to review this place. The first one didn't appear to go through. The people are nice but the pricing is terrible. And I received the wrong paperwork with somebody else's name on it. I was quoted three different prices by three different people. I ended up getting 7 cents a pound for sheet aluminum. And 28 cents a pound for extruded aluminum. By far the worst experience I've had. Now I have to find somewhere else since I still have 5 truck loads to get rid of. By comparison when my neighbor took back the same extruded aluminium for me he got 55 cents per pound 2 weeks ago. They are all over the place.
