I typically try to avoid complaining, but the way this situation was handled was so unprofessional and disrespectful that I feel it needs to be brought to your attention.
I own a Toyota Corolla that needed a new battery. I purchased a battery from your store for $190.00, brought it home, and installed it immediately, as the car was stalled on the street. The vehicle started, but the battery warning light remained on. I was able to get the car into my driveway, removed the battery, and returned it to the store to be tested.
My initial assumption was that the battery may have been defective straight off the shelf. I will also admit that I did not request a bench test prior to purchase, which is a mistake I will not repeat.
When the battery was tested at the store, it showed approximately 50% CCA and was only partially charged. The tester indicated “recharge and test again,” which the store did. When I returned, the battery tested fine — however, given the initial results and the immediate issue I experienced upon installation, I was not comfortable accepting that same battery and requested either an exchange or a refund.
At that point, the employee assisting me told me I would need to speak with the “big guy” (I do not know if he was the store manager or shift manager). From the moment he approached me, his demeanor was gruff, hostile, and confrontational. He was rude, dismissive, and repeatedly interrupted me while I was attempting to explain the situation.
Rather than addressing the issue professionally, he cut me off with statements such as:
· “I can’t do anything about it.”
· “The computer won’t even ALLOW me to return this.”
· “It must be something with your car.”
He insisted the problem had to be a draw on my vehicle, despite the fact that the battery had just been installed. He even stated that he could create a draw that would drain a battery in three hours, which was completely irrelevant and did nothing to resolve the situation.
I shop at that store frequently because it is convenient and, until now, I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. However, this individual’s behavior was unacceptable and completely out of line.
When I stated that he was losing a customer over a battery, his response was, “We don’t make a habit out of loaning out batteries,” implying that I was attempting to take advantage of the store or get something for free. That accusation was offensive, inappropriate, and completely uncalled for.
I paid for a new battery, received one that initially tested poorly, and simply requested a reasonable exchange or refund. Instead, I was treated with hostility and disrespect.Feb 07, 2026 -
I had a dead car battery, and whether to replace the battery in a bad weather, the service was excellent change the battery and provided free installation after some wait. Friendly and courteous customer service. Will go there again for future vehicle needs

ill never buy here again. 38 yrs of service and yall treated that man so poorly. kaplan louisiana you know exactly what im talking about!! poor man gave yall decades and yall let him go when his cancer took over. sickening!

I have never never had anything but a totally positive experience . On the number of occasions that I have been in for one reason or another over many years, I have always found every member of the staff to be friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
Today I came in to purchase a wiper blade, which they installed about 6 million times faster than I could’ve possibly ever done myself (if at all) They were also kind enough to install a second wiper blade that I had purchased elsewhere and had been tearing my hair out trying to install myself. The manager refused to honor a return that his employee previously said they would do. Proper training isn't the customers responsibility.
If the representative isn't authorized to transact on the stores behave, make that clear with a sign that says every transaction MAY be reviewed and altered by the store manager.

I went into advance on Westnedge. I have visited on numerous occasions over the last few years. Lately I have seen a major improvement on the store and the staff. There now more helpful and extremely nice. Meeting us at the door offering to help us to find the item we need I'm impressed and will continue to visit this location For my automotive needs. Thanks to the staff.

very knowledgeable staff, very professional, and very helpful. Needed new wiper blades and they got me an extremely good quality with a very good replacement plan for the future. Very highly recommended, especially over the auto zone around the corner. sending my husband here later today to get wipers on his vehicle too!

I purchased rain x truck and suv wipers for my Nissan pathfinder and I wanted to share how much I love them. The best ones I have ever purchased. The staff in this location are always helpful and wonderful to work with. We purchased ours from Cody who even installed them for us. Thank you Westnedge for a great experience.

Get better employees and actually put effort into who you have working for you and this place wouldn't be too bad. Sadly this place will hire anybody. Not a clue what they're talking about. Big heads up, shop online and you'll get what you need. DO NOT RELY ON THE EMPLOYEES!! If you do you will definitely be making a second trip

Stopped in yesterday after another store was no help, and the man that helped me was great! I wish I caught the name, but he got us what we needed very quickly and had great customer service. Even gave my daughter a treat and was super kind. Thank you again!

Lee was amazing! Been having alternator and battery issues. He helped me find the issue, suggested a proper battery for my driving habits, and installed it. Even replace a bad terminal bolt in the process.

Went to pick up an exhaust pipe. Sign on the door clearly said open until 9PM. Try the door and it's locked? This was at 7:15. Double check online, says open until 9PM. The store lights are all on. Someone is in there. So I call. Asked why the door was locked if the sign said open until 9PM. Was told it's because they're closed. Asked why closed if the sign CLEARLY states open until 9PM. Couldn't make out the answer over the traffic. So my son calls. Gets some runaround and attitude about being short staffed and having to work 12 hours. Apparently from another review on here, short staffed isn't a new thing. If you're not a fan of working 12 hours, being a business owner probably isn't for you. So O'Reilly has our business.

They sold me the wrong wiper blades after insisting they look up which type my car needed. Then, when I brought them back to exchange for the correct type, they only had one of the two different sizes I needed. 2/10 would not shop again.

They were very helpful in assistance with the parts I was looking for and the price and I asked for a print out of the cost for later purchase and they gave me one. Came out and took a look at the part that I would need and tighten it up for me till later on this week when I returned to purchase. Great hospitality thank you.

Went in to have my battery checked, the guy working was on the phone and didn't even acknowledge me. Then the only battery in stock was $160! He wasn't friendly and seemed rather condescending actually. Won't be there any time soon again that's for sure!

Very helpful and friendly staff. They will check your car's computer to read the "check engine light" for free. They have almost any part you want in stock. Great prices, fast service. Thanks for giving me a good price on my alternator!

I primarily go here because they have free used oil disposal for people who live in their zip code. I do shop here occasionally if I am in the need of parts to complete a repair. I typically will go to Advance Autos website to see if it us stock before I go in. If it's not in stock and I have the time I will order it online and have it shipped to the store. The employees are always friendly and they are knowledgeable. The location is convenient for me which is another reason why I like to use this location as well.

I went in and asked for a headlight bulb that would look blue. They come out with a $65 bulb and say this is what you're looking for we sell a lot of these. I put it in and no blue. Go to the store the next day and was told I can't have blue without some kind of kit and it's not legal to have colors. I asked for a refund and was told to call the store manager Joey (who was the one who brought the light over to me). I called and he says he just can't give a refund as I didn't say I wanted blue but bright. I said yes I did and why would you bring me a blue bulb if I said bright. If you had said to me that is not possible and not legal I would have said fine and left it alone. I think they took advantage and not owing up to it.

Didn't have a good experience with Joey. Definitely needs to coached on in-store customer service and having priorities set. Even though this location is usually not busy but it seems they're mostly understaffed or unstaffed at the service desks. Pep boys, orielys and Autozone are nearby and will gladly match prices and offer better customer service.

I went there day before yesterday and stood in line alone for about 15-17 mins, I wasn't acknowledged nor was the person that came after me and we kept waiting till i almost decided to leave as there was a storm outside and had my family waiting. Finally Jeff W. looked and asked and completed my transaction unpleasantly. There were three people working and while they were quick in answering phone calls they didnt bother about the walk in customers. As the transaction was complete and time to sign the reciept their pen did'nt work nor did they have another one, at this point i was frustrated and just scratched my sign and left. Next guy behind me was finally served and told the part he came to pickup was not available while before coming availability was confirmed to him. Next time i'm going to oreilys or autozone

Best experience with an auto supply store ever. The staff worked with me on the phone and had the part I needed waiting at the counter when I arrived. When I asked if I could install the part in the parking lot, they went a step further and offered to waive the core charge while I removed the old part and rolled out a tray of tools that I could borrow if mine were not sufficient. Highly recommended!
