I'm always nervous to take vehicles in to a new shop because it seems to be hit or miss if you find a good one or if its a sketchy one. This is absolutely a good one. They couldn't fix what was going on because it turned out to be a dealer-only part/fix, but they were kind enough to give me a ballpark figure for the cost based on some research they did.l so I knew what to expect when I called the dealer. My truck is my baby so it is a relief to know we've got a great shop in town that can help when needed! This is the only place we'll be taking our cars in the future.

Called to schedule an appointment for my truck that wouldn't start. I knew the issue wasn't the battery. I scheduled the appointment and asked if I could get it started, could I drop it off early. Not only did they agree, they replaced the starter a day early. Very pleased with the service. I will always take my truck to Frankie D's.

Several years ago when we first moved to Holt, my car needed repair. When I pick it up, the owner flipped the bill over and had listed 5 things that needed to be done. He pointed to the first two and said, "This needs to be done sooner than later, these others you can hold off for a bit.". I was stunned by his honesty and not trying to push me to make repairs that weren't needed right away. This approach has never changed. You pay a fair price, but you're getting what needs to be done. Been with this shop ever since. Thanks Frankie D's!!!

Let me start by saying their customer service/front desk was great. I went in to get tires aligned on my 2014 Honda CRV which took about 90 min to get done. When I went to pick up my car, I was told the R rear camber was non adjustable and should be fine. I reached out to my dealership and another auto shop that said the opposite, and essential the camber system could be replaced for the year and model of my car. I am YET again going to have to pay to get all my tires aligned once this service is fixed. Very disappointing and will get my tires aligned elsewhere in the future.

I brought my Audi A3 in for what was a huge oil leak. Oil was pouring out, and the shop told me it was just the oil cap. They said they literally saw oil spewing out and replaced it with one bought from an Audi dealership. They charged me $120 for that cap and a visual inspection, saying it should fix the issue. For about a week, everything seemed fine. I was relieved, even shook the mechanic’s hand, the guy with the beard and a speech impediment, after he told me the problem was solved. But only a week later, the low oil light came back on. I returned, and this time they said it was the valve body gasket. They quoted me $498 and said they had to “start there” before moving further. I agreed, trusting their judgment. A few days later, while I was on vacation, the oil light came back on again — this time I was adding a quart of oil every 10 miles just to keep driving. I even had to pull off the side of the road twice just to refill oil and make it home. Once I got back, I let the car sit for a few days, bought an oil dipstick online because it almost looked like oil was spewing from there, and finally had the car towed to the dealership because I was done playing guessing games. I cannot understand how a mechanic shop can charge me $120 for a cap and inspection, nearly $500 for another “maybe” repair, and still leave me with a massive oil leak that never got fixed. I left trusting them, even thanking that same mechanic, but it is clear now I was being strung along. Do not be fooled by friendly faces and smooth talk. These guys may seem nice, but in reality, they are more like salesmen with a good stage presence. At the end of the day, you might be better off watching YouTube, figuring out the actual problem, and then telling them exactly what to replace instead of letting them keep charging you for the wrong fixes. I am now bringing my car to the dealership to move on, and I will never bring my car back to this shop again.

My license plate screws were rusted so bad I couldn't get them off. Took my car over to Frankie D's and the mechanics were so wonderful. They got the screws off and replaced my old license plate with my new one. All without charge. Been going there for 20 years and never been disappointed. Thank you! Frankie D's is the best.

Frank Sierawski, the original owner of Frankie D's was my father but I am here to leave a review because of the current owner Devlin. It was very emotional for me to take my car in for the first time to Frankie D's and not have my dad there. As many people who were loyal Frankie D customers know, my dad passed away last year after battling cancer. So this was my first experience in my life of taking my car to someone other than my dad. But I wanted to come here to say that because of Devlin, my experience was no different than when my dad was alive and running the shop. I felt just as secure, safe, and cared for as I did with my dad. I have read some of the reviews from customers who say "things have changed or the shop will never be the same" and to you I would like to say: You are right, there are ways Frankie D's will never be the same, because my dad Frank cannot be replaced in all ways. He was his own uniquely charming and charismatic person. But after my experience with Devlin and the shop I would also tell you that you are so incredibly wrong. This shop is the same when it comes to integrity, quality work, honesty, and dedication to providing the community with a safe and honorable place to take their car. A place where they can trust they are being cared for, which was truly the legacy my dad intentionally left behind when he chose Devlin as the new shop owner. My dad could have sold his shop to developers, made a pretty penny and retired. He had been asked for years about his property right there in downtown with all the improvements happening in that part of Holt. But when Devlin started working for my dad he saw something and someone that was worth building a legacy with. My dad mentored and loved Devlin like a son and if you knew my dad at all you know everything he did, he was clear minded and intentional about. He did not pick Devlin as the new owner of Frankie D's without careful consideration. During the last year of my dad's life, when we knew he was not going to live to see many more, we talked about the future of the shop. He always said how proud he was of Devlin and how there is no one else in the world he would want his shop to be left to, always saying that Devlin was the only person that could keep the integrity and quality he had provided for over 30 years and after my experience bringing my car in this past week I can say the same thing. Is Frankie D's different when you walk in? Yes, because my dad had a presence and a personality that is impossible to recreate. But the integrity, the honesty, the dedication that is all there still. If you loved my dad, if you admired him and his commitment to the Holt community, then I ask that you stop coming here to complain that this business is different. This was the change my dad wanted. Devlin is bringing in the future of car repair while also holding onto the Frankie D tradition of honest, caring car service. My dads final wishes in this world were to see Frankie D's continue to serve this community in the way he always had and if you pay close enough attention, you will see glimpses of my dads presence in Devlin's genuine disposition and quiet humble integrity. I am so thankful that I will have somewhere to bring my car, without worry and without a deep ache for my dad, because I still see him there and I know he is proud of all that Devlin is doing. So thank you Frankie D's, we are so lucky to still have you around!

Amazing. Fixed my 1994 car very quickly and for a very reasonable price. Including locating hard to find parts. A rare car repair shop you can trust!

I brought my car into the shop thinking it just needed a simple oil change. I've never been more wrong in my life. The moment I pulled in, I felt a shift in the air—like the very spirit of automotive excellence had taken form in human flesh. And that form’s name? Devlin. He emerged from the garage, wiping his hands on a shop rag like a gunslinger holstering his weapon. He took one look at my car and squinted. “She’s been through some things,” he muttered, more to himself than to me. I nodded, ashamed. Without a word, Devlin ran his hand along the hood, listening. Not touching. Listening. Then, he closed his eyes and whispered, “Start her up.” I turned the key. The engine coughed like a two-pack-a-day smoker. A single tear rolled down Devlin’s cheek. “We’re gonna fix this,” he said. What happened next defied logic, physics, and probably several laws of time itself. He leaned over the engine bay, took a deep breath, and gently blew on the engine. Immediately, the check engine light shut off. The rattling noise? Gone. Somewhere in the distance, an eagle screeched. The apprentice stood nearby, watching in awe. “That’s impossible,” he whispered. Devlin just smirked. Thirty seconds later, the car wasn’t just fixed—it was transformed. The engine purred like a contented lion. The brakes? Smoother than a jazz sax solo. The alignment? So precise NASA called to ask for notes. When I went to pay, Devlin simply shook his head. “This one’s on the house,” he said. “You just take care of her now.” As I pulled away, I swear my car drove better than the day it rolled off the factory floor. The radio only played good songs. The fuel gauge? Higher than when I arrived. And in my rearview mirror, I saw Devlin standing there—hands on his hips, silhouetted against the setting sun. A hero. A craftsman. A legend. 10/10 mechanic. If your car ever makes a weird noise, don’t waste time Googling it. Just find Devlin. He doesn’t just fix cars—he breathes life into them.

Brought my 2024 Toyota Tundra that recently had a lift kit and bigger tires installed for an alignment. Toyota could not do it correctly so I brought it here. They took their time and got the truck driving perfectly.

Frankie's is the BEST! Honest and reasonable every time. Staff is always friendly. They stand behind the work done. We've used Frankie's for years.

Our only car broke down in April/May of 2024 and we brought it to Frankie’s. Unfortunately the fix we thought we needed ended up being a lot worse so the car at that point was basically not worth fixing. We were having financial problems so we were unable to pay the shop right away. Fast forward to now, February of 2025 and we finally payed for our car and we were able to junk it. We appreciate the patience, understanding and kindness that Frankie’s has given us. In all that time, they gave us about 2-3 follow up calls and when we would explain to them that we were working on getting the money to them, they never once used a nasty tone with us or belittled us. They only treated us with the upmost respect. Thank you again! I will say though that when the car junk came and picked up our car, our catalytic converter was missing so we got $100 less than we were supposed to. Not sure why it was missing? Hopefully it wasn’t taken out by Frankie’s and if it wasn’t, then they have a thief that they need to look out for in their lot.

Friendly people. The best work done on my vehicles. Customer service is always very good, and they do honest work and back it with a guarantee. There is a reason they are always so busy. Make sure to set an appointment as they typically book appointments one or two weeks in advance.

Unbelievably good. I had the owner ride with me to "feel" what I was trying to describe happening with my transmission. All the staff are super friendly, and more than fair prices. They are busy, so schedule ahead.

Took my cars here for years. Frank was great, honest, knew what he was doing, and always fair. Took my wife's car in for A/C last season. Took it back this spring.... twice. First for a rear line then they told me it was a condenser leak. Wanted to charge to refill the system that they didn't fix days earlier. After I challenged that, they told me they'd take care of the refill. Didn't charge for the coolant but charged an hour labor to refill in addition to labor to replace condenser. Throughout these visits, asked them to fix noisy compressor in the air suspension. They replaced all the shocks, still there. Then told me it was working properly but they adjusted the sensor. Left there and it came on repeatedly, loud as heck. Some time on YouTube and it was clear it needed a new compressor. I replaced it today myself. Problem solved. Makes me question if the shocks even needed replacing. Asked them to look at the check engine light while it was in. Said it was a bad thermostat. Then quoted me 4 hours labor! I immediately questioned that. Looked online and found 1.2 hours as the standard. They adjusted this to 1.5 hours but also charged .5 hour to read the code. Frank never did this. This is no longer the place I used to trust that Frank ran so well for many years.

Devlin was great. I had an issue with an oil leak. He examined the vehicle and upon further inspection noticed that there was more than one issue. He explained everything that was wrong with the vehicle. He took the time to find me the most affordable parts that were good quality. Issues were fixed. Great staff. Great place. Will be returning for any future repairs. Thanks again.

This is a great mechanic shop that you can TRUST in my opinion. Which is also the best quality in a mechanic if you ask me; so you're not charged for unnecessary repairs. Devlin, the owner is well experienced and took the time to explain multiple options of what could be wrong with my car before the repair. In the end they charged me less than their estimate because it didn't take as long as they thought. To me that proves they are trustworthy. I'd highly recommend Frankie D's and I will return when the need arises.

EDIT: No longer the same as it is used to. It is both unfortunate and sad for me to change my review. (1) I got to know that the struts I got replaced here are of not good quality after inspection from a different mechanic as I was facing issues with the driving and handling of my car. (2) Had to get engine tune-up AGAIN somewhere else of course after just 30000 miles as they put cheap spark plugs. (3) Now brake job failed after 10 months. I feel quite embarrassed that I've previously recommended this shop to numerous people without realizing the situation I might have unintentionally put them in. Besides, THEY DO INFLATE THE PRICE OF CHEAP POSSIBLY AFTERMARKET PARTS. They are THE BEST people in town. In my experience, you will get no match to their honesty, knowledge, service and friendliness around here. For a simple oil change at any one of those Firestone, Tuffy's, etc it would easily cost you 1.5 times more (despite their "promotional offers") compared to what you pay at Frankie's. They are a little expensive but its for sure that you will pay more at any other shop in some way or the other for the same job. Frankie's have expert mechanics providing you with best service, and in rare case if the service is not at par they do provide a one year or 12000 miles guarantee with every the repair/parts service. After every service, Frank comes and talks to you and assures you about the service which is cherry on top. One more thing, they don't inflate the parts prices, which is very common in auto shops around here.

I took my ‘77 big block van in for a job that most mechanics in town would blanch at. They were enthusiastic about working on it and did a spectacular job. They went above and beyond, cleaning mating surfaces and even gave my oil pan a new ford blue coating. They didn’t even tell me they did those things, I just saw it after I got the thing home! Very fair on the price for the job- they gave me a break on it since I’d already done a chunk of the work. Highly recommend this shop.

I will never bring my vehicle back here again . Everyone was friendly enough but it became clear after multiple visits they were not closely reviewing the problems. Took my truck in for a rattle that would not go away. Test drove with Frank so he could hear it. I did every repair suggested including new brakes, timing chain, etc. I was told that it was NOT a loose heat shield after I specifically asked them to check that. I was told they test drove my vehicle yet no gas or mileage had changed when I picked it up. I spent thousands in repairs only for the issue to persist. Then a friend found the issue in my driveway in a matter of 5 mins. A loose, rusted heat shield. Frankie D mechanics left rags and a tool under my hood. Such a disappointing experience. I told the shop manager Eric what had happened and he offered no explanation. I told them I would not be back and the reply I got was “ok”. Not a very reliable shop despite recommendations. Pics of the heat shield my friend found and pulled out days after having my truck in at Frankie D’s. He also found a broken part that was so obvious yet no one at the shop brought to my attention.

This was the best experience I have ever had at a shop like this. Devlin was so wonderful. I had dropped my car off at another place for a repair from the manufacturer due to a part needing to be replaced. They inspected the car and said I also needed 3000 dollars worth of repairs. I felt it was incorrect because the car was working just fine. I also havent had this car very long. My husband said I needed to go to Frankie Ds. I called and told them what was going on and took it in. After they started the repairs they said part of the repairs were not needed. Then I was told what the other place found was normal and I did not need to worry about it as my car doesn't have enough miles on it to worry about the normal wear and tear. They saved me over 2700 dollars. Thank you so much for everything. I will do my business here from now on.

I just had to leave a review for Frankie D’s. No one wants their check engine light to come on but mine did and they were there to help me with out trying to say it needed 10 things done to it. The guys that helped me this week were, the new owner Devlin, Brandon and Scott. I have never been treated so well at a shop before. Plus if you pay in cash you get a discount! I’m happy to find a place close to me that I can trust!

They are always so honest and trustworthy! I took my car into a different shop that was a bit shady and didn't want to get any work done with them. I'm so glad I was able to get an appointment at Frankie D's! Frankie went over the options for my car carefully, making sure I understood the repairs and cost before starting the work. He also gave me tips for how to maintain my car going forward. I would recommend anyone to take their car into Frankie D's for repair!

Awesome experience! Took my car in for an alignment (first time customer). First..the price was GREAT! Second....after job was finished Frankie took the time to drive my car around to help with an unrelated issue-was so kind and professional. Will 100% be using Frankie D’s for all future car work!!

Never thought I'd enjoy taking my car in to an auto repair place, but I'm pleased to be proven wrong. :) I was able to speak directly to Frankie and he was patient (but still very speedy), and even took me back to show me what was wrong with my car (I came in for an alignment, but figured I might have other issues). No pushing or prodding to come back to his shop specifically to get it fixed--he just wanted to make sure I understood what was wrong, and I really appreciated it! No other mechanic has taken the time to actually show me the problem. They normally just give you a bill with little explanation. Not at Frankie's! Didn't talk down to me, and was very cheery and polite, even though it was clear he was incredibly busy. He told me I'd be fine through the holidays, just to get it handled eventually. I waited in the lobby with the secretaries who were very friendly and obviously very dedicated to the community and their customers while the alignment was done. Took a little longer than the estimated hour, but it was hard to mind with such pleasant company. If my car needs anything else while I'm still in Lansing area, I'll be sure to head back to Frankie D.'s! PS- if the above wasn't enough to convince you of the 5-star rating: the price was also incredibly affordable compared to other shops in the area.
