Shop with quality mechanics. The office ladies were nice too! Pricing was within market average.
Prices are more than reasonable. Bobby treated me as if I was family and gave very honest and realistic advice for my car situation. I am thankful, and will always use Discount Muffler & Brakes for my car problems whenever possible.
My experience at Discount Muffler and Breaks was terrible.
I went in for a general inspection but I was told that I "might" need other repairs that was unrelated to my general inspection request
All was said was that I needed to spend 515.00 $
I paid for an inspection but was never told what was my problem. But, a sutter of 515.00 $ was quoted.
If anyone goes there for mechanical services expect to pay 500.00 $ for anything simple like breaks or a headlight bulb replacement.
Please, go to another mechanic shop don't waste your time and money there.

Usually this shop does a pretty decent job on my car, reasonable prices, in and out on the turn around time, and good customer service. But this time I didn't appreciate the shop didn't make me aware of my multifunction switch not completely working until after I paid and damn near almost left the shop. I got a incorrect diagnosis for them to fix from another shop so a loss on my end. But Ms. Lady at the front desk did double check everything after me having to say something though.
Charged me to look at my vehicle and said they couldnt figure out what was wrong it. I took it to midas and they immediately figured out the rear end was bad. Discount muffler and brakes wasted my time and money.
These guy are the GREATEST!!! They actually work on your vehicle and don’t leave it sitting for days before they decide to work on it. Their prices are the best around. I believe they are everyday people working on everyday people’s cars so they no no one in this town can afford astronomical prices and we need our cars back asap so we can work. No wonder they’ve been here forever.
I've been a loyal customer for over 25 years, but this place has completely gone downhill. I can't recommend them anymore. Expect to waste 3 hours and get cussed out by their mechanic, who clearly doesn't know how to fix cars. Save yourself the time, headache, and money—go across the street to H-tech instead. To top it off, they wanted to charged me almost $800 for a battery and alternator, while everywhere else is nearly $700. Absolutely ridiculous.
I've gone several times to try to get a basic brake inspection, not repairs. No luck since they've gotten a car dealership contract. Used to be for the "common" guy. Now, it's like waiting to get into the club, but getting blocked by the bouncer.
So grateful to have found this place! Honest and upfront, they are knowledgeable. They don't overcharge and are trustworthy! Have taken several vehicles there and been satisfied with all work. Thank you ladies in the front and mechanics Tim and Mike!
It is definitely not a discount store. It is overpriced plus rude receptionist and charged 4% additional for using credit card. Will never be back again.
If you need anything done to your cars anything whatsoever I'm telling you go to discount muffler I just bought my car I haven't even made the first payment yet and things are going wrong and I explained that to him Mike the mechanic took my truck in and just did miracles just did miracles and I can't tell you how grateful and overwhelmingly happy I am and the women up in the front desk cuz she's been there since the building was there and she is super super super amazing and her dog is super cute so if you have any needs anything you need done to your car go there cuz they will work with you and they are freaking amazing so if you have any needs anything you need done to your car go there cuz they will work with you and they are freaking amazing
Great shop. Office staff is great and very polite. Owner is awesome. Techs are knowledgeable and honest. Would highly recommend, can definitly trust the work that they do.
Been taking my card there for years. They have never steared my wife and I wrong. They have always been honest and up front with what is needing to be done right away and what can wait. When ever we do bring new cars in they always inform us of things to be on the look out for as no car is perfect. Very pleased with the service of Debbie and Tonya and all the mechanics.
Told her we were from out of town and had to wait. They got us in within an hour and had us all fixed up about an hour later. Fast, friendly and will use again if ever in Flint. Thanks again.
Dishonest people, allow their staff to be rude to customers and blame it on their age, once they “fix” your issue they won’t allow themselves to take blame when the same problem is occurring so your “warranty” is useless. This place is the exact reason I never wanted to take my vehicle to the shop to begin with. At least my car was drivable before I took it here! 0 star from me. Take your vehicle here if you want high blood pressure, a headache and less money in your pockets.
Had a great experience here! I brought my car in for the loud muffler, they got me in and out that day and the muffler isn't loud anymore. It cost exactly what they quoted. Less than I expected. They were friendly and fast.
I am not car savvy at all, but they took the time to educate me. They were fairly quick, very friendly, and overall amazing. I would recommend! It was a very fair price (a friend mechanic was going to charge about the same). It was worth every penny for the service and kindness I received.
My car is driving so smoothly now. I am so thankful. This business has been in the community of Flint for a very long time, and that says a lot.
Deborah is absolutely amazing turned my day around from absolute shatters to knowing ill be driving my car by the end of the day. Amazing pricing an turn around time with the work is beyond what I imagined after calling and calling other places so glad I found them.
Absolutely love this place. I usually fix my own car but winter. You can bring your own parts and if you end up not needing some they are honest and won't waste your money by putting it on anyways. They have never tried to tell me more was broke than what was. They fix the issue and don't upsell you on fixing unnecessary things.
Very friendly and honest people here. Over all there prices are very reasonable, but every once in a while I will find someone a bit cheaper. Usually though this place would be my 1st choice.
Debbie and Tonya are thorough, Professional and Friendly. Waiting area and bathrooms are clean. They have free coffee and snacks with a small fee. My place of Service for over 10 years. They are Fair and do not overcharge. The Mechanics are good and explains and ask that you come look at the problem. Keep up the good work.
Even though there was already a few vehicles in their shop, they got my car in to inspect it within minutes. And the price was very reasonable . They even had to order the part and it was there very quickly and the service was great. Very respectful and friendly staff. Great job everybody.
