Would give this business 10 stars if I could. Gil stopped working on pending jobs and saved our holiday camping trip. Our travel trailer wheel bearings were fried, which took out the brakes. He replaced the brakes, bearings and drum. We are so grateful that he was willing to help us at our time of need.
I was gifted a small snow mobile /ATV. Transport trailer that was in rough shape. Galvanized frame was good. Axle was rusted. I bought new hubs with bearing for it but desperately needed the leaf springs reconditioned. Took the leaf springs to Gil. He took them apart. Replaced a small leaf that was cracked and custom added an additional leaf to make them a four pack vice three to give additional support. Made custom u bolts for me to use in my case. Wax hard to find avail at box stores. Now I have the perfect , strong and long lasting leaf springs to use on my reconditioned axle. Once I get it all bolted back together I’ll paint the final coat on everything and it will last a long time. Just a solid old timer doing this reliably for people for more than 45 years. Very happy and grateful for his repair. Highly recommend. If you call. Leave a voice mail. He will get back to you. He’s a one man army trying to work in hard to do things in a small shop and stops to answer the phone when he can. Be patient. It’ll pay off.
We were camping in Rogers City (4 1/2 hours from our home),celebrating our 23 wedding anniversary when we realized a leaf spring had broken on our camper on the way there. There was no way possible we could haul the camper home that far with the leaf spring broken. Traveling around the city looking for help, luckily pointed us to Midway Spring. He was very highly recommended by all the locals. He Squeezed us in for the repair so we could still salvage our trip, and make it safely home! He was very reasonably priced, and such a sweet guy! I dont know what we would have done without him!!! I hope he knows how much his kindness and professionalism meant to us in our situation! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I wish i could give a 10 star rating! Gil recently did a spring over conversion on our toyhauler. As we travel full time with the trailer, it was important that it get done in one day. He promised us he would get it done, and he delivered! I would absolutely go back to him for other work.
Our boat trailer leaf spring broke down in Tom's grocery store. We were screwed. Gil opened his shop on a Sunday for us and absolutely saved the day! Thank you so much Gil. You are the best!
Gil was very honest and helped me with my trailer axle upgrade, l wanted to add an axle, after Gil did his research/math to quote the job realized he could get the same results replacing the single axle with a single axle with a higher weight capacity for half the cost .... Super helpful and saved me a ton of money when my leaf springs on my f150 broke. Instead of replacing the whole assembly, they were able to just replace the broken spring saving me over 600 dollars!
Gill worked on two different trucks of mine. He did a great job. I had a spring place near Grand Rapids do a horrible job and Gill fixed it for me. Mid way spring is the best place for a fair deal.
Every once in a while you run across a small business that just inspires you to be a more helpful person. Gill did that for me this past week. I was trailering my boat up from lower Michigan and the trailer busted on me about an hour away from my destination. I ended up having the whole unit loaded on a flatbed and towed to my final destination but throughout the week I called Gill several times to help walk me through the process of taking the wheel off and figuring out how to fix the hub assembly. He didn't have to do anything for me as he was too busy to take the job on himself but he went above and beyond to help make sure I was back on the road safely. I even brought the trailer to him after I did my best to put it back together and he did the final touches on it and a safety check. Now a few days later and I am ready to trailer the boat back south and I am just so grateful for guys like Gill that are more inclined to teach YOU how to do something than to just accept your money. this is the ONLY place anyone living in northern mi should go for leaf spring service! it’s mom and pop owned and they, or rather i say Gill, specializes in leaf spring. i love it when people specialize in ONE thing and do it great! it took 2 days and he had my truck back in the road better than it was when it was new.

I have a 2018 Tacoma with ~400lbs of drawers and topper on the bed at all times so it inevitably started sagging. Midway installed a long extra leaf at the top of the leaf pack instead of a short one on the bottom like you can order online. It turned out great, the truck is back to stock height and rides great. 5/5 would work with again.
Me and my family were stranded in St. Ignace, mi with a broken spring on our pop-up trailer. I called a bunch of places, but he was the only one that could help. And he didn't jack up the price since i was desperate. real nice guy and a nice shop, old fashion with lots of stuff to look and and read while i was waiting. Thanks again
