Update: FYI closed Mon and Tues. Bad weather causes the "mall" to close for that day. There is a book she'd for taking and leaving everything from encyclopedias to kids books.

Run well, the guys work hard to keep things safe and flowing

No issues with facility staff they are always helpful and friendly but this is a poor transfer station site. Having moved to Duxbury from another town in MA that also doesn't provide trash pickup I was shocked to find that you pay over $100 per vehicle per year for a permit and then find the facilities are very basic at the site and you have to use "blue" town trash bags which are also expensive to put your own plastic bags in. Makes no sense if you need a permit to enter the site and from a sustainability point of view to double bag. The layout is awful and find myself driving in and out of the site in circles to access the correct areas to recycle and get stuck at the entrance waiting to get past the cardboard and plastic lines blocking the way thru. Many recyclables are mixed together (plastics/cans etc.) rather than in separate dumpsters) To dump yard/leaf waste you drive into ankle deep mud and there is heavy equipment yards away from you. I highly recommend the DPW visit Wellesley RDF and see how well that is done. Duxbury is not a low tax town so there is no reason why a smaller version of something like Wellesley wouldn't work here even if all the services couldn't be offered the basics should be easily duplicated. Duxbury is a great town and this is the only negative since moving here.
