What clients say about Martha's Vineyard in Cedar Bushes (MA)

Absolutely love taking a trip here. Really easy place, just going into all the little shops along the way. Definitely lots of places to choose from for lunch. Unfortunately unless you've planned a day at the beach there's not too much to do after a first visit. The homes are absolutely beautiful as well, enjoy walking around to take pictures.

What a great place. Travelled by steamboat and the first ship experience was exquisite. Food is amazing everywhere. Hotels were good. The museum is something you should go to in Vineyard Haven. Go to East chop and west chop lighthouse. People are very friendly because its tourist area. Great great experience.

Short day trip. We toured the area where the ferry came over from Hyannis and took the free bus down to another area but didn’t get to see the other parts of the island. Was end of season and lots of the shops were closed or closing. Glad we missed the crowds. Enjoyed touring the adorable cottages. Several people in our group did the $3 tour and highly recommended it. Wish we had taken the time to go to see where Jaws was filmed.

Beautiful place and gingerbread houses with the colors. I enjoyed the shopping because it was very unique .

Visited Martha’s Vineyard by ferry from New Bedford (around $70–80 per person), and it was absolutely worth it. It’s a beautiful, walkable town with charming gingerbread houses, cozy cafés, and great restaurants. The vibe was quiet and relaxed when we visited, which made it even nicer. The public transport system is really convenient too — buses take you anywhere around the island and make getting back to the ferry easy. A perfect day trip!

Martha’s Vineyard isn’t just a place you visit—it’s a place that hugs your soul. The moment you step off the ferry, the world feels softer, quieter, like it’s inviting you to just breathe. Each little town has its own flavor. Edgartown feels like stepping into a New England postcard, with sailboats bobbing gently in the harbor. Oak Bluffs is colorful and whimsical with those gingerbread cottages—and yes, the Flying Horses carousel is pure magic (I rode it, brass ring and all). Vineyard Haven has that “welcome home” ferry energy, and up-island—Chilmark and Aquinnah—the cliffs at sunset left me speechless. But here’s the thing: Martha’s Vineyard isn’t about checking off attractions. It’s about the feeling. Biking down quiet roads, walking barefoot on sandy beaches, sitting under a night sky where the stars feel closer than usual. It’s not just a getaway—it’s a reminder to slow down, to notice, to savor. The Vineyard doesn’t just give you a vacation. It gives you back time you didn’t realize you’d lost.

Martha's Vineyard is a staple of Massachusetts and the vacations of old. It is a beautiful island, similar to Montauk on LI, NY. Oaks Bluff is where the ferry lands. Lots of food and bars, beaches and people. Buses for free to get around. The 50th anniversary of Jaws is a biggie this year, where the movie was filmed. Richard Dreyfuss was there signing autographs. Fun family place. Nantucket is a little more of an upgrade as far as islands go. This is the place for family, for sure. Tell em Barsnobs sent ya!

We decided on a whim to visit Martha’s Vineyard for a mid-May, midweek, preseason getaway. We found a home on Vacasa that fit our needs very well. It was a five bedroom five bathroom split level single-family home. Nestled in a verdant space only 10 minutes away from the Vineyard Haven ferry terminal. We drove from Maryland to Vineyard Haven, and met up with our sister-in-law who was driving from Ipswich Massachusetts. We were a group of five friends and relatives. We brought a lot of of our own food since we were staying in a vacation rental, which cut down the cost significantly. Book your ferry crossing as soon as you book your home because I waited about two weeks to book our ferry reservations and was only able to get an 830pm departure. Putting us on the island around 9:30 which was a rather late arrival for our day one. We spent four days exploring the island and had a blast. Make the visitor center your first stop on the morning of your first day so you can pick up maps and get some hints about the best views and places to visit. It’s easy to drive around, and filled with stunning vistas on each curve of the road. Be sure to take the little ferry over to Chappaquiddick Island to visit the Japanese gardens, the beach and the famous bridge that Ted Kennedy drove off of crashing into the water killing his secretary who accompanied him. Everyone we met were super friendly from the fisherman catching squid to the art gallery owner. It was a great time to visit because there were so few visitors yet the weather was sunny and warm. It was too cold to swim, but we enjoyed walking along the beaches and shores. There was lots of wildlife to see, beautiful spring flowers in bloom and fresh air to breathe. Be sure to visit every little town in the island. Soak in the atmosphere of the town where Jaws was filmed 50 years ago! Get out of the car and walk around and enjoy.

Beautiful place. Beaches are amazing. The seafood is good, though expensive. The entire stay n trip is expensive

Absolutely love this place, I will try to come back every year. It’s quiet, quaint, some of the best seafood around, great places to stay, great food, great shopping.

Absolutely breathtaking views! The bed-and-breakfast we stayed in was clean, had a central location and was well looked after! The seafood was fresh and delicious… of course its Martha’s Vineyard!!!, but I would add that the sites seemed a bit touristy for my taste!

It’s a lovely island. Enough to do for a couple of days looking around. Checking out the Kennedy crash site, Jaws locations and the like. Pretty and helpful bus drivers. Felt like county Kerry with bigger cars.

Beautiful for a day trip. You can park in any of these parking lots (see picture attached), and take the free shuttle to the port to get on the ferry. The ferry was nice, and we enjoyed a drink with the sea breeze. The island was nice, but would have been nicer we if actually got our car on the ferry for an additional 100 bucks (because Ubers are so expensive on the island that it ultimately makes sense to take your own car and go from point A to point B which are pretty far apart - there's also buses, but do you want to commute an hour on the bus?)

Enjoyed our stay at MV! Amazing seafood and lots of great mom and pop shops. Got great coffee here.

Martha’s Vineyard is an absolute paradise and a must-visit destination! From the moment you arrive, you're captivated by the island's charm, natural beauty, and relaxed atmosphere. Each of the towns has its own unique vibe, offering something for everyone. The picturesque beaches are perfect for a day of relaxation or adventure, with options ranging from calm waters ideal for swimming to more rugged shores perfect for exploring. The quaint towns are filled with charming shops, art galleries, and restaurants serving up delicious, fresh seafood and local cuisine. One of the highlights of my visit was the stunning scenery—from the iconic Gay Head Cliffs in Aquinnah to the serene landscapes of the up-island regions. The island's lighthouses, especially at sunset, are breathtaking and provide great photo opportunities. Don’t miss a ride on the Flying Horses Carousel in Oak Bluffs or a leisurely bike ride along the scenic trails. The local community is warm and welcoming, and there's a strong sense of history and culture that enriches the experience. Whether you're here for a day trip or an extended stay, Martha’s Vineyard offers a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and New England charm. I can’t recommend it enough!

It was amazing experience. I didn’t stay but I’m regret because of this. You can find ferry very easy, island queen is only passenger ferry and travel takes 35 mins. There are so many bus and with day pass ticket u can travel at the all island. There are couple of beaches and all of them was really good.

We enjoyed our day visit to Martha's Vineyard. We arrived via ferry which for a person who does get seasick wasn't a bad journey. The island is easily navigated using the regular bus routes. Take in the beautiful architecture throughout the island which is diverse and amusing. The various styles and colors of the many cottages adds a festive and slightly magical quality to the experience. There are many eateries available for you to take advantage of while visiting. We took the time to go out to the Aquinnah Cliff overlook which was beautiful. It will be nice to go back and stay on the island but the day visit was great.

So stunning! An easy day trip from Boston! Everything is easily written on the ferry website. From parking to ferry times. Martha’s Vineyard is stunning. Uber is accessible and public transport. So many fun shops and neighborhoods. Would highly recommend a visit.

Beautiful experience! This trip is off my bucket list now. We had a phenomenal time and the weather was perfect. Our island bus tour Tom, was very knowledgeable, funny and kind. We definitely had a fantastic time.

It's an ok island but it doesn't feel like an island. Mackinac Island is a lot better. This island had very small beaches and the bigger ones are harder to get too with small shore lines. The island isn't walkable but you can rent bikes or other things.

We took our car also in the ferry to go to Martha's vineyard so that we can travel easily once we reach there. We went to south beach and aquinnah cliffs and both were good.

A very relaxing getaway! Most unique part are the houses! Had lots of fun wandering off admiring the homes.

I had not been to the Vineyard in at least 20 years. It is beautiful. We rented a car and traveled all over the place but there is so much to see and do right when you get off the ferry. Highly recommend visiting.

I had visited The Vineyards before but this was my first time staying. We recently visited for the weekend. It was a great time!!! First, we did the bus tour and saw the different areas of the island. Then the next few days, we took the local bus. Note about the bus and military fares, we had to purchase the pass at the bus to get the reduced fare. Each person had to show an active duty/veteran ID for the reduced fare. Didn't seem to be applied to the family, which is di, especially for active duty personnel traveling with their family. Oak Bluff was very lively. Lots of restaurants and bars. But as you travel away from there, especially west, I believe, it gets less populated. But it has a vibe for everyone. I definitely enjoyed the trip. We took the Steamship over from Cape Cod. Parking is not available at the port, but if you are not bringing your car, you might want to drop off the family at the port and then take the shuttle back. I think the ride was about 10 minutes from the parking lot where the shuttle is to the port. Also, there are some variety of food options. Juice by the Sea is a cute little vegan restaurant in Oak Bluff, across from the bus tours and next to the laundry mat. It makes a really good avocado toast...yummy!

Where the rich and famous and the wannabes collide. Great for vacationing. Quaint shops and houses circa 1800s. This is the site of the Jaws movie. Had a good time except for one restaurant, Mikado, which we thought to be Japanese by its name and signage but turned out to be Chinese. They charged us $25 for a bowl of what they said was ramen but was actually just instant noodles, We felt conned by this pseudo Japaneserestaurantwhich try to pass itself as Asian, which is not, except for the staff.

Incredibly beautiful island! The ocean color is pristine and gorgeous. We biked around the island and visited Oak Bluffs, Alpaca farm, Edgartown, and biked along the Beach Road through Jaws Bridge. We did a day trip, but would stay overnight next time because there is still a lot to see and explore! Highly recommend!

Beautiful affluent community. Not expensive during off season! I recommend staying in Edgartown and renting bikes to ride around. Check out the filming locations from Jaws and a Japanese garden on Chappaquiddick island. Busy and crowded in the summer but not in September/October.

Having a lot of fun here enjoying the outdoors. So many activities so close that you will not be disappointed. Plenty to see, plenty to do, biking, hiking, swimming, fishing, grilling, shopping, boating, jet skis

One of the best place in US to spend your holiday. Nice peaceful and calm place with natural beauty. You can rent bike ( Anderson bike rental is pretty good place to rent) and roam around all the places in the Island. Water color is perfect for photography. You will never fed up taking photos. ( keep power bank with you in case your cell phone need power). There is one light house at another end you can watch that, but be careful as it would be difficult to walk bare foot near light house as there are broken seashells.
